There is a serial killer loose in our town! See post #84 for update

About 53,000 people in the entire county. And yes there was a serial killer here 40 years ago that killed 4 young women/girls. Now this killer has surpassed that with killing 5. Every where I go, I look for him and his vehicle.

So scary. I don't think I would leave my house, My prayers are with your town they find this guy before he does anything else

I would love to go stay somewhere else, but we have obligations to our jobs and family.
Today is July 5th and even with an updated sketch no one has recognized him. Supposedly he has big blue eyes.
His last victim, the 15 year old girl, died yesterday bringing the total of deaths to 5 in a weeks time.
Each night I set all these ****y traps around my house so that if he tries to enter I will hear a sound hopefully. If someone knocked on my door even in the daytime I believe I would faint.

I understand about the obligations but the offer does stand if you need to get away. Still praying for his QUICK capture and for the safety of everyone there and for the safety of you and your family.

I live just across the state line in NC. Cherokee County is our neighbor to the south. I am a 911 dispatcher and we have been getting calls all night about poss suspect sightings in my county. I hope and pray that this is over soon and this guys is caught. I am praying for all of the family and friends of the victims. We all need to keep an eye out and be aware of our surroundings. And there is no way in heck that I would knock on a strangers door in Cherokee County or Cleveland County.

Add York County, SC to that list of doors you wouldn't knock on. We're the next county below Cherokee, the southeast border I think. We're also a very rural county, at least on our western side, which is what borders Cherokee. Less then an hour to downtown Gaffney. Dh took the kids to his mama's this weekend. I had the doors locked and the loud-mouth rottweiller in with me until they got back. We were over at the outlet stores this afternoon. I figured it was pretty safe since the guy hasn't targeted anyone in an area with lots of people around, he's been in pretty quiet, somewhat isolated area. I didn't realize it was a champagne colored Explorer they were looking for; I drive a similar colored Expedition!

We were in Gaffney twice this past week and then came home and read this. OMG Prayers and thoughts are with all in the area. I hope this person is caught soon.

Heard this on TV today...VERY scary. I understand that you have a life and it must carry on but me? I would be OUT OF THERE!:confused3

Please, stay safe. I hope they catch this lunatic soon.

Prayers that they catch this monster soon! It must be awful to live in constant fear.

We live in NC in a cluttered house but you are more than welcome to come up here. We have a dog and cat if you can handle that. We have a couch and an air bed. Our house isn't dirty, just cluttered. There is some animal hair here and there that we miss from time to time. You really are welcome to come up here until he is caught.

This is one of the nicest things I've ever seen posted on the DIS! GOOD PEOPLE!

We're visiting in Cleveland Co. for the 4th, and I've been scared to death! I was home alone for a short time today and every sound made me jump.

We had planned to go the the yellow stores to shop, but I just couldn't do it.

I hope they catch the creep soon. :sad2:

Reading these posts reminds me of the DC Sniper. I understand how the people in the community feel. No playing outside, scared to do normal things.

I as the previous person posted, I hope they catch the creep soon!

I still think about the DC sniper almost every time I'm pumping gas. That, too was horrible.

Gosh I've got to get on the DIS more often for my news! I'm soo far behind!

I have cousins that live in Gaffney - thank goodness they are out of town til next weekend & are missing most of the drama - just hope its all over before they get home! "Cause I'll be worrying for them!

That is super scary. It reminds me of the 2 guys who were killing random people here (Phoenix, AZ). Everyone was on a look-out. Nothing was consistant.

Hope everything turns out ok!

The news stations have been encouraging people not to go door to door for sales or business stuff right night. But just today, a couple of old ladies came knocking on my door, with church brochures, I think, and I didn't go to the door. Even before this, I would still not go to my door for strangers at all!
They need to keep informing people to NOT go to other people's doors if they do not know them.

I hope you enjoyed your time in my county. Other than there being a serail killer loose in the next county. I hop you had no needs of any of our 911 services while you were here. I just hope this is all over very very soon.

I heard about this on the BBC News last night. I hope that they catch whoever is doing this very soon. Stay safe!

I hope this killer is found soon. I know the terror...

I still think about the DC sniper almost every time I'm pumping gas. That, too was horrible.

We live outside of DC and I think of the snipers every time I pass Leisure World, every time I drive down I95 through Ashland, VA, and even whenever I see a Ride-On bus driver (the last victim was a Ride-On driver, and for awhile every time I would see a bus I would start crying, thinking "if they'd only caught them a little sooner...). Also every time I see a big white box truck, since they first thought they were driving one of those. For years after, every time I'd listen to the radio and hear the emergency tone they play before a breaking news story, I'd feel it all over again. The terror that was felt during that October is indescribable. It didn't so much affect our daily home lives since we lived in a quiet neighborhood and the kids were able to play outside, but the schools cancelled outdoor recess, all the ballgames were cancelled, and whenever we'd go out in public we had this fear in our guts. :sad2:
