There & Back Again: A 1st-Timer's Tale--1/6-1/14/2010 @ FW Cabins: 3 more days!

Ahh, I've always wanted to try one of the surrey bikes! They seem like so much fun. :goodvibes Great plans!

Ahh, I've always wanted to try one of the surrey bikes! They seem like so much fun. :goodvibes Great plans!

There was someone on a surrey bike in the Disney Vacation Planning video, and ever since my mom saw that, she was set on us doing the same. I'm pretty excited!

I can't believe we're so close--only one week! Seven more days!

To take a leaf out of wdwgirl03's book, here is a list of the top ten rides I'm most excited about and why, in no real order (except for number one):

10. Jungle Cruise--I know this one is as corny as Kansas in August, but if you have a good skipper it gets so corny that it's actually hilarious... or maybe my sense of humor is just that terrible. :rotfl:
9. Space Mountain--I've been on this ride a million or more times, but I'm excited to see the changes made by the refurbishment!
8. Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Carribbean--I know I'm cheating a little, but these are two old favorites and you can't do one without doing the other.
7. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster--I am a huge roller coaster person, and when I went to DHS in 2007 we didn't go on this because the line was two hours long. :scared1:
6. Star Tours--another old favorite, but even more so because I was basically raised on Star Wars. (I still don't know how I feel about the fact that Disney will be incorporating the prequels into the ride... it could either be great or, well, not so great.)
5. Peter Pan's Flight--can you believe that of all the dozens of times I've been to DLR, I've only been on this once? It's so magical, though, that I may or may not have had tears in my eyes when it ended.
4. Kilamanjaro Safaris--I don't actually remember if I've been on this or not, but I think the answer is no. And that's crazy! Because there's a similar ride at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which I love, and Kilamanjaro is sure to be even better just because it's Disney.
3. Soarin'--one of those rides that has so much thought in it that I wish I could meet the Imagineers who worked on it so that I could tell them how much I appreciate the ride.
2. Expedition Everest--probably the best roller coaster at Disney, if you ask me (although I don't have all the data to make that judgement).
1. TOY STORY MANIA! I played this at DCA in the summer of 2008 and I've been wanting to go back ever since... it ended up being one of my favorite things on that trip (and there were a LOT of things to love about that trip...)

Splash Mountain would have definitely had a place on this list, but unfortunately it will be in refurb while we're there (as will Test Track, and possibly Cinderella's Castle)... oh well! And of course, this list does not include all of the shows (MUPPETS 3D!) or even the show-rides (like Living in the Land) that I love or know I will at least like.

We're making a lot of lists and checking them twice. We have a pre-trip grocery list, for non-perishable goods we're bringing with us; another grocery list for food we're buying when we get there; a packing list for every person in my family (each of us has a few non-personal things that we are in charge of remembering--like my brother has to remember the camcorder); a carry-on list; lists of confirmation numbers and phone numbers and addresses to remember... oh my. But Disney fever has definitely taken over our household for sure now.

I can't believe it, but there are only three days until our trip. !

A few minor changes we've made--
For our first Thursday, we've decided to just go back to Ft. Wilderness after touring Animal Kingdom, then we'll eat dinner and ride a surrey bike there, and if we have time after that (and we probably will) we're going to head over to the Grand Floridian to see Wishes. I know that there are probably better places, but I'm dying to see GF... it looks so beautiful in the pictures.

Then we realized that Fantasmic! is actually in Hollywood Studios, not the Magic Kingdom... I think we're just so used to F! at Disneyland we assumed it would be at MK. So we decided to cancel our ADR for the Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre, and instead we'll spend that Tuesday at another park (probably MK or Epcot), and spend a lot more time at DHS on Sunday, so that we can see both the Block Party Bash and Fantasmic.

I can't wait!!
