There are suddenly a bunch of 7DMT FP+ available for November

Oh no, Disney can't be going there before the holidays, can they....?

That was my thought too. We were there during the TSM FP+ only debacle. Not a happy scene at DHS. We had our FP+, but it brings a damper on things when you see others who did not with upset little kids.

I will say though that they may have decided they had more FP+ capacity. We had 7DMT FP+ on 4 separate days on our trip a few weeks ago and, I don't think I can remember a time when they weren't rushing us to get in place. I don't think we ever had any kind of wait in the FP+ line before being put in a numbered ride vehicle spot.

Well if they start doing FP+ only wouldn't they have to start allowing a lot more than 3 per day? I mean, in the long run, if they are headed towards no standby lines.

They already allow more than 3, you would have to go to the kiosk.

We are going on the 18th so no Xmas party that night - we want to stay till close for fireworks and electrical parade. I moved it to 405 pm so we can still book more later and use morning for none FP rides - that sound doable? There are many times open for that day still.

Just keep in mind that you can't book any more fp+ until you have used your 3rd one. So if they were all before the parade then you could also get a 4th, 5th etc maybe.

That's our second day at MK, the 18th! Woo hoo!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!! Had so many times to choose from on 11/20......:cool1: Just made my day!!!

So should I book it before big thunder instead? I haven't been to the MK since I was a kid so clueless on booking stuff - any suggestions I'll take. We want to do A&E at rope drop as well

My goodness, can we just once say yea! they did something people wanted and not immediately try and decipher a way to make it negative?

Seriously, it would seem Disney can do nothing right.
They might be doing something right but it's clear that these abrupt changes normally have a purpose. People tend to be paranoid and with good reason.

I was just thinking this morning that maybe one of the reasons that FPs for the mine train have been going so fast is that they have allocated a lower percentage of the ride's capacity to FP in the attraction's first few months.

There have been a number of reports on these boards that the wait for the mine train has spiked up right at opening but leveled off shortly after, which is not really typical of popular attractions at the MK that have been around for a long time. Maybe they are now going to try issuing a higher percentage of capacity to FP+ to try to take a little more pressure off that initial rush and see how it affects the standby line.

Woohoo! Was able to change my HM FP to SDMT for next Friday. Decided to make it in the 5:30-6:30 slot when the lines might be a bit longer since it's a party day.

Yep.

Capacity is finite. A slew of additional FP's inside of 30 days has to come from somewhere.

Could be the next round of what we've already seen tested.

Heck, maybe they're starting to play with their release date methodology for FP's and testing holding some back.

Who knows. But, it had to come from somewhere like the SB capacity, or a new release methodology.

Unless they built a 2nd track while we were sleeping......

This should be interesting.

I think we will find out what all of those tests were for soon enough.

Their priority is going to be making sure their onsite customers can get what they want. If that means releasing more spots via prebooked FPs at the expense of the standby line, I think they will do that.

It will be very, very interesting to see what happens with the standby lines over the holidays...

And the hand wringing and looking into the glass ball trying to second guess why they're doing what, serves what purpose?

Personally, I don't see anything to lead me to believe they're doing this for anything other than crowd levels- unless you base the second guessing of this meaning they're going to all fp+ on the huge, baseless suggestion that they ever considered doing it.

IMO most of the paranoia that's on the dis is based on speculation and guessing. This is not the first time they released extra fp+'s and the sky didn't fall then either.

It's just the constant negative drumbeat get old after a while.

I saw it open up for Sunday the 23rd, but I already have a good FP time for that day. I have a late FP for Nov. 26th and was hoping to move it up, but I don't think they opened up any extras for that day as I still couldn't find any alternate times. Likely b/c it's the holiday week.:worried: Oh well.

What purpose does it serve? Preparedness.

It's not just 7DMT. I was able to tweak times for all of my MK FPs, tons and tons of times available when there had been slim to none.

I'm pleased, or well, pleased as I can be given the system overall.

Prepared? In what way can you prepare? If you have a trip scheduled for November and they suddenly go to all fp+ there's nothing you can do to be "prepared".

Stocking up on water and canned goods isn't going to help you.

Seriously, a lot of people are pretty pleased they were able to get a difficult to get fp+- even within 30 days. How about we just let them enjoy it instead of saying---oh, but wait..there has to be something horrible behind this..just you wait and see. This might be just the kind of thing other posters are talking about with all the griping and complaining. Just sayin'...gripe when there's a reason. Disney has given us enough real stuff, we don't have to create any.

If for the entire month of November then for most of the month it is benefitting non-park guests almost as much as on-site guest. Most of November is well within 30 days.
It "could" be a test for the busy Holiday Season with Thanksgiving in the equation. See how no stand works.
That said these are facts we know. They have added 7DMT before later. They have not done test over major Holidays (if more FPs were released for Thanksgiving then that would qualify).
None of the previous test included bulk release of FP+s. Not saying that is not what they are doing but there is no previous test that included such a move. Another words if making that assumption then it is being done contrary to facts.

I just booked SDMT for 11/21, prior to the start of the MVMCP. We only have party tickets, and SDMT was not available at the 30-day mark (neither was ETWB; not sure about A&E, since we aren't interested in that).

I traded a BTMRR FP for SDMT and kept the Splash Mt and JC FPs that we already had.

I'm happy to have the FP, but this emphasizes to me why I dislike the new system. I already woke up at 11 pm at the 30-day mark to make our intial FP+ reservations. I decided then that I was NOT going to check the website over and over again each day hoping to score SDMT because I have a job and a life outside of stalking MDE for FPs. My plan was to see if we could just ride SB during the party. If hadn't happened to check these boards today, there is no way I would have known the extra FPs opened up.

IMO FP+ has done more to unequalize the system more than the old kiosk method ever could have. Basically, if you're not stalking MDE 30-60 days prior to your trip, you're likely to be out of luck. At least under the old system, my time and effort was limited to the actual DAY I was in the park!

Sure there is...you can prep to take it out of your touring plan. You can shift park days. If I were going at this time I would try to get one of these new Fp reses, be happy I got one and have a back up plan if I didn't and if the ride went FP only.

You can be happy and prepared at the same time.
