There'’s Nowhere To Go But Down...…To The Utilidors! NEW TR LINK 6/4

Chapter 7: For The First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-A-Long

Okay, so this next section was the worst part of the vacation for me. Like, I’m not even sure how much I want to write about it…but we all have those moments of Disney vacations that are not so fun.

We got out of American Idol and it was pouring rain, so everyone was standing around in the AI exit. Usually we’d just wait out the rain, but we had to get to the Frozen sing-a-long. I had no idea where the Premier Theater was, so my plan was just to follow my mom.

We had the hardest time getting out of the exit. At times we were completely trapped. Somehow, Mom, Kylie, and Emily got out, but I was stuck behind someone in a wheelchair. I tried to call ahead to them to wait for us, but they couldn’t hear me.

I saw them duck into an area nearby that had a bunch of tables with umbrellas, and for some reason I thought they might have waited there. So I ran ahead to those tables, and the rest of my family followed. Well, Mom, Ky, and Em weren’t there, and I had no idea where we were supposed to go.

My dad was (understandably, I might add) pretty upset that I ran out into the rain with no idea where I was going, because we were ankle deep in water and now we had less of a chance of finding shelter. I tried to explain myself but it resulted in us both getting really upset and yelling at each other.

Ugh. It was awful. We were soaking wet and totally lost and I just had no idea what to do. I felt bad for making my uncles and aunt run around in the rain. Thankfully they were all really cool about it.

Finally we got some text directions from our mom. Uncle Dave stayed behind (he’s not really a run-through-the-rain kind of guy) and we found our way to the Theater.

I was so miserable at that point. This was the thing I was most excited for, and I really thought I wasn’t going to enjoy it.

After I cooled off for a few minutes, my dad and I made up. It was the weather’s fault more than anything. On the plus side, we got the big blowout out of the way (not the good summer blowout like Oaken’s) and there weren’t any major fights for the rest of the vacation.

Another sad side effect of the rain was that my Olaf got destroyed. I’m just honored that he thought I was worth melting for…

I pulled myself together and we went inside. We got PERFECT seats, right in the center and didn’t have to wait too long before the show started.

Anna came out first looking for her sister. “Do you wanna build a snowman? Okay, that never works.”

14663191446_d7a9cde844_c.jpg

Then, the Arendelle Historians Aria and Erik told us the story of Anna and Elsa, complete with clips and songs from the movie.

14686187205_730abd7b1e_c.jpg

We sang “Do You Want To Build A Snowman,” “For The First Time In Forever,” “Love Is An Open Door,” “In Summer,” and of course, “Let It Go.”

14663190616_be294d44cf_c.jpg

KRISTOFF made an appearance! I was so excited to see him! I hope they consider bringing him out for the parties, like they do with Flynn Rider.

14685899442_ef8c741ea6_c.jpg

Actual king of everything, Olaf

14683808514_2555a34e8b_c.jpg

The funniest moment was the end of the story, when Erik was explaining how Anna had to choose between getting her kiss from Kristoff or saving Elsa, and he said, “So…OLAF saves the day, stops Hans, and kisses Anna! That’s her act of true love!” I was laughing SO hard.

Finally, Elsa came out, and we all sang Let It Go. Mom and I both got chills because we love this song so much. It really hasn’t gotten old for me.

The consensus? Everyone loved it, even Aunt Patti and Uncle Rick, who haven’t seen Frozen! They really want to see it now based on the sing-a-long. I thought it was absolutely precious and it completely turned my mood around.

That really stinks about the blowout with your dad, but if we're being honest, we've ALL had those moments, even in Disney! I'm just glad for you that it didn't last long. How can anyone still be mad at anyone during a Frozen Sing Along?!?!

It looks like a TON of fun! That would be really great if Kristoff came out for meet & greets at the parties!

Some family drama is totally normal my dear. It happens to us too, no worries at all. It made me chuckle though. I'm always the one that's prepared and know where she's going, and my Dad drives me crazy because he never prepares at all, so he always has no idea where he's going. It can be humorous and frustrating at the same time. :lmao:

Awwww, Olaf.

I'm so glad that you guys had a great time regardless of the circumstances that led you there. Everything always works out in the end.

Hi Courtney! I'm back and following along with your latest TR! What a great way to celebrate a Sweet 16 surrounded by family and DISNEY! :)

My Frozen appreciation has grown during our recent trip since we especially enjoyed the Frozen summer fun events at DHS. Well done Disney! The Frozen-mania is not going away soon and I'm glad to see Disney capitalizing on how hugely popular it has become.

Oh no... stuck in IaSW, I'm glad it was you and not me! :rotfl2: Can't wait to hear about that one. Do they at least do the humane thing and turn off the soundtrack? ;)

Ha ha! I love that you declared yourself zee Captain! Take charge girl!

Followed you to this TR from your last one, it was so cute and your family seems so fun.

I haven't read any of this TR yet but looking forward to it. Just wanted to come out of lurkdom.

Doing a quick catch up...

The Frozen Funland area looks like so much fun! I'm so upset I hadn't made the decision to move my trip to July so I could've seen it and the rest of Frozen Summer. All of it looks so cool and I totally would've gotten myself caught up in all that chaos at the merch section. I'm surprised you didn't end up going crazy in there... or am I starting to move ahead in this TR? ;) Love all the magic shots btw!

:thumbsup2 to Star Tours! And that cupcake does look very delicious. Mmmm, SOMEONE TAKE ME BACK NOW!!!

Awww, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. That's no fun being sick. But LOL @ the whole "I am Zee Captain Now", kinda reminds me of Captain Phillips, though that is kind of a dark reference lol

YAY for Muppet Vision and American Idol! I really hope that American Idol really isn't going like they say because of Star Wars Land. I'm so not ready for that. At all. Come to think of it, I think that actually might already be true. Wah.

That stinks about your whole rain mix-up, I can understand why you might've wanted to skip over it. Glad you and your dad made up, but poor Olaf. Like you said, at least he thought you were worth melting for.

OMG, the Frozen sing-a-long looks awesome! I've seen lots of videos and photos on IG, but your description makes it sound even better. Ugggghhhhhh, how I wish I had gone in July. I could've met you too! But you win some, you lose some. :)

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Eeek, but fights happen to the best of us and are unavoidable. So i's kinda good you got it out of the way.

I'm glad it didn't ruin the sing along though.

It does look like it's pretty cool, I have to admit. I'll be putting it on my list of things to do when we're there.

First and foremost, RIP Olaf. So sad we will not be seeing you pop up in anymore pictures.

Major bummer on the rain, talk about raining on your parade. I am glad your mom was able to send you directions and you made it in time.

The sing along looks incredible, I'm glad it was able to brighten up your spirits.

Honestly Courtney, I'm glad you shared a less than magical moment. If you can do a Disney trip without it, you're in the vast minority I think. Any time you combine a large group, crowds, and lousy weather, it's going to happen. It's not a question of "if", but a question of "when". Plus, I bet reading these types of things really reassure others who may think... why is everyone else's trip so perfect????

OMG... I'm dying here looking at your wonderful pictures because I keep seeing Olaf peeking around from in front.

It sounds like this is what you really needed at that time... a little Disney magic can go a looooooooong way. :goodvibes

Family drama is to be expected especially with Florida's crazy weather patterns! But it looks like you all made up and had fun! I'm sorry about Olaf though. ):

Great pics from the Frozen Sing-a-Long. I probably would have cried my way through it. LoL

I really love the Kristoff that Disney picked :)

that sounds like such a frustrating situation with the weather and feeling trapped and lost but knowing you need to get somewhere at a set time - and for something you were really looking forward to ... I am sure if was all the stress related to that more than anything that let to the fight. Glad you got it over with though and that was that for the vacation :thumbsup2

Ok - the Sing Along looks like so much fun and really well put together. Our DHS day is our arrival day and I will be seriously bummed if all the tickets are gone before we get there

I'm sorry you had the fight with your Dad, and I know we've all been there. Especially when it's crowded, it's raining, you can't communicate with the other people in your party. It's definitely a stressful situation.

The sing-a-long looks like so much fun!!! Your pictures are awesome!! I really wish I could see it this summer. I did hear they extended it, and I hope it keeps going. I don't think I'll get back to WDW before possibly Feb.

Just found your TR and subscribed! I love all your photos! I'm sorry about the fight with your dad but I'm sure it's something very common to get in the moment when faced with bad weather and crowds :)

I'm late catching up but HERE I AM AND I READ EVERYTHING!!!!

"the chocolate Anna was delicious (sorry Anna)"
LOL I am dying at this hahaha. when I got the Elsa cupcake and when I ate the top part I was like NOM NOM ELSA ;)

omg that episode of the middle was SO BAD!!! SO. BAD. I had never watched the show before and I watched just that episode because I remember being at work when they filmed so I was like, oh hey maybe I should watch this. BAD DECISION. omg it was painful to watch, I cringed soooo much and felt so uncomfortable hahaha

I  LOVE  THE  MUPPETS  omg Muppetvision is SO GREAT, I go all the time and still die laughing every time hahaha. and I agree, the pre show is the best!

aww sorry to hear that you had a not-so-nice time getting to the singalong but at least it didn't last long, and you got the one-required-argument-per-trip out of the way!! and I'm glad you enjoyed the singalong anyway! as you can probably guess, I didn't enjoy the singalong quite as much as other people did hahaha (Brazilian girls were screaming in my ears the whole time ok) but I'm glad you had a good time!! :goodvibes

excited to read more!!!! princess:

Yeah, it usually happens once a trip for us...it's never fun, but I'm definitely glad it was over with quickly!!

It was amazing!!! I really hope they keep it around in some capacity so you can see it, DS would love it!

I'm honestly really glad to know it's not just my family haha. Yeah, usually I'm the one who knows where we're going, but for once I didn't and that just threw everything off!

Don't worry...you may see an Olaf resurrection...

It really does. You can't ever stay sad for long in Disney!

BRENDA! I'm so happy to see you here and I'm excited to hear about all your recent travels!

I'm glad you liked Frozen Summer Fun! I thought everything was absolutely adorable.

They did in fact turn off the soundtrack. I'm not sure I would be alive writing this TR if they had kept it on for the 40 minutes we were in there...but I'm getting ahead of myself ;)

Hehe thank you!! It was fun but I still prefer when my mom's the captain.

Followed you to this TR from your last one, it was so cute and your family seems so fun.

Thank you so much for reading along and coming out of lurkdom!!!

I really wish it had been up while you were there! It was sooooo much fun. Don't worry, I make a triumphant return to Oaken's!

I WANT TO GO BACK TOO. I just want a cupcake!!

I have since been informed that it is in fact a reference to Captain Phillips! I hadn't seen it so The Middle was the first time I heard of it, but my mom told me where it originated haha.

American Idol is going in January 2015 :( I am bummed, it's not one of my favorites but I do enjoy it!

Yeah it was definitely the least fun part of the trip, but it ended quickly and the rest of the day was smooth sailing :thumbsup2

It would have been awesome to have a DISmeet with you!! But we will definitely have one in the future, hopefully in May 2015!!!

Eeek, but fights happen to the best of us and are unavoidable. So i's kinda good you got it out of the way.

I'm glad it didn't ruin the sing along though.

True that, Amber. I'm glad we got it over with quickly.

Me too! I really enjoyed the sing-a-long and would definitely recommend it. It's so cute!

I know, it's so sad...but you may just see another Olaf picture or two ;)

I'm glad we made it too! It really was incredible!

See, now you know what I was talking about when I was FB messaging you! All those things definitely contributed to the tension, but thankfully we got over it quickly and made the best of our day together.

HAHA isn't that great? I didn't even notice him until I was looking at the pictures to post in the TR.

It really can!! It was a much needed dose of pixie dust.

We did make up and had a great rest of the day! I felt bad for Olaf, but don't worry, he'll make a return.

Not gonna lie I definitely choked up during the sing-a-long. It was so great!

Kristoff is so cute!

Awww that sing along looks really cute!

It was adorable!

Ok - the Sing Along looks like so much fun and really well put together. Our DHS day is our arrival day and I will be seriously bummed if all the tickets are gone before we get there

It was definitely frustrating, but thankfully the stress only lasted like 10-15 minutes. Things definitely looked up after that!

I will be crossing my fingers for you, I really hope you get to see it!!

I'm sorry you had the fight with your Dad, and I know we've all been there. Especially when it's crowded, it's raining, you can't communicate with the other people in your party. It's definitely a stressful situation.

It was so stressful, but we got over it quickly! It's been very reassuring to hear it's not just my family who deals with this stuff :)

It was SO great! I hope they keep it in some capacity. Honestly I'd rather they do that than have Frozen take over Norway. I think it's a great addition to DHS!

Just found your TR and subscribed! I love all your photos! I'm sorry about the fight with your dad but I'm sure it's something very common to get in the moment when faced with bad weather and crowds :)

Welcome and thank you so much for joining in!! Thanks for all the kind words too :goodvibes

YAYYYY thanks for catching up girl!!!

BAHAHA I felt a little odd but like it's chocolate I'm not gonna say no.

IT WAS AWFUL!!! Super cool you were there when they filmed it...but seriously I was so uncomfortable the whole time. They just had no idea what they were doing, I wanted to shake them by the shoulders and have them reevaluate their choices.

It's seriously one of my family's favorite attractions at WDW! My sister and I are constantly quoting Statler and Waldorf's lines, and every time we see a bunny we go "BUUUUUNNYYYYYY"

Haha that's a great way to put it, we always have one big fight per trip! Ugh I had a tour group behind me the second time I saw it and it definitely detracted from the experience so I feel ya!

Chapter 8: ‘50s Prime Time Café

Aunt Patti and Uncle Rick needed a snack break, so we said bye to them and met Uncle Dave over at Beauty and the Beast.

This is my favorite show to see interpreted. The interpreters really act out the story and get into the emotions, and it’s wonderful to see.

14683801964_879a8ebfb9_c.jpg

After that, we headed over to ‘50s Prime Time Café for our dinner reservation! Now, we had told Aunt Patti and Uncle Rick to meet us there, and they texted us saying they were on their way, so we checked in. Before they got there, though, the host Sven called our name. Yes, his name was really Sven. He said he got a lot of autograph and photo requests.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t seat us without our full party there, so we had to wait. I snuck over to Hollywood & Vine to check out the pin board. Finally, Aunt Patti and Uncle Rick showed up…they thought “the ‘50s restaurant” was Sci-Fi Dine In. Close enough, I guess…

We all got seated and our waiter was a man named Michael. I was a little bummed it wasn’t Loukili, who has been our waiter the last two times we’ve eaten at ‘50s. And then…out of the kitchen…LOUKILI!!!

We all shrieked and he was taken aback. We asked how he was doing, and he said, “Well, I’m above ground, so I’m a happy camper!”

He also was upset that we didn’t have drinks at that point, so he said he’d go back and shave Michael’s head.

Michael, although not Loukili, was hilarious. He gave Mom a hard time for forgetting to request corn instead of collard greens.

I got a vanilla shake and pot roast. The pot roast was soooooo good. It had an amazing flavor and was nearly as good as my mom’s.

14499545378_39ae6ecb60_c.jpg

14663182856_16fb275a76_c.jpg

Dad got the sampler, so you can see all the dishes everyone else got (meat loaf and fried chicken). Uncle Dave got the special which was some sort of spicy shrimp dish (SO MUCH ALLITERATION) but I didn’t get a picture. I wasn’t on my food pic game yet.

14499514860_b6f0ed3fa2_c.jpg

Dad got caught texting on his “walkie-talkie” and had to clear the table.

14501364737_3f0b207dfc_c.jpg

And Uncle Rick got shamed by the restaurant for not eating his vegetables.

Emily, however, was bestowed the great honor of joining the Clean Plate Club!

14499544788_aa43af3a73_c.jpg

Kylie got the first of many birthday cupcakes!

14685891222_28fcaeacd9_c.jpg

And Loukili gave me sprinkles and M&Ms…I’m not sure why but I appreciated it nonetheless because he’s my favorite.

14663176266_a1e34b2e2d_c.jpg

Of course, we had to get a picture with our man. (The purple Mickeys are in honor of my dad's friend who passed away from cancer.)

Chapter 9: See You In The Movies

After dinner, Aunt Patti and Uncle Rick went home. They aren’t the night owls the rest of us are.

Kylie and Emily were Disneybounding every day of our trip. If you aren’t familiar with it, Disneybounding is when you dress like a Disney character, but with regular clothes and not a costume. Today they were Peter Pan and Wendy and a few people recognized them!

RETURN OF THE PHOTOBOMB

14687526645_ebb2c449fc_c.jpg

We did Voyage of the Little Mermaid next. That’s always a favorite of ours. Since Emily loves Ariel, she adored it.

14664520996_41ae041ec7_c.jpg

Next, we did the Great Movie Ride. It's artsy because it's tilted.

14500857820_ba924a3a44_c.jpg

Emily discovered my biggest secret: I don’t look up during the Alien scene. I stare at the floor and wait for it to be over. My family has never acknowledged it but Emily did. Embarrassing. We had the gangster and it was a pretty good ride!

14684353381_a09fa484e7_c.jpg

Next we headed to the Animation Building to see if we could meet some characters! Unfortunately, the lines were closing since Fantasmic was starting soon, but Kylie and Emily took some of the quizzes and I admired more art.

If anyone wanted to buy me a gift, this would be good.
