How far in advance do you find out about themed parties? Or do I assume there will definitely be a pirate one? Any others? We want to be prepared.
We're on the 7day Eastern in January. pirate:

We're going to be first-time cruisers, too. I know there's a fun Sail Away party as the ship sails away (hence, the name). And I'm pretty sure there's a Pirates in the Caribbean party on every cruise. Just not sure what night it would be for the Eastern cruise. But I'll bet someone else here could supply that information! ;)

All the cruises have the sail away party, which really sets th emood for your cruise. It is really a lot of fun. Now all the cruises have Pirate night as their themed dinner night. You go to dinner in your pirate costume, you'll receive a free pirate bandana and your wait staff will be dressed as pirates too. Your menu will be served on a scroll. It is written in pirate style. later in the evening you have the pirate deck party ( not sure which night) with singing and dancing, a skit with characters, the finale is fireworks and a huge buffet on deck 9 to wind up the party. it is really fun as so many people are dressed as pirates that entire evening. It's great to walk around the ship and see all the costumes. Entire families dress up together, but if your not the type to dress up dont worry, there are some who dont dress up. But as for me I say it's great to be like a kid again and go for it!!!! Our entire family will be dressing up when we go again in December, that is half the fun of the party.

Thanks for the great info! I'm firing up the sewing machine to make some costumes. I think we'll use them at Halloween and then have them for the cruise. It sounds like a great evening.
