Theme Park Ticket integration problem onto KTTW cards

A friend of mine went the the BCV in mid January and tried to merge his separately purchased Theme Park Tickets onto his KTTW cards issued when he checked in. He told me the resort couldn't do it. I knew from on here that it should be possible.

But I too ran into this problem, last week at the BWV. I had bought my tickets through a DisneyWorld website and when I gave them to the Tickets/concierge desk, they said "sure, it won't be a problem", followed soon by "our new software is not allowing us to merge them". The front desk couldn't even add Park Hopping privileges to my tickets.

So then I walked over to the Epcot International Gateway and they had problems adding the Park Hopper option, telling me "the system says these can't be upgraded". Then a manager came over and did something, and upgraded them, and issued me new 7-day Park Hoppers.

I then took those newly issued (by Disney) Park Hoppers back to the BWV front desk and they again tried and failed to combine the tickets and my KTTW cards. So I had to carry all my KTTW cards and these rather thin and floppy tickets the whole time. The tickets closely resembled fast passes in size and thickness, so they were harder to keep track of and easier to lose than the hard KTTW cards.

Is the new software causing ticket merging problems at all resorts? Just for DVC? Anyone have success doing this in 2011?

ETA: My friend had bought his tickets since the price increase last August. I had bought my tickets last June. And we both hit the same problem.

That's been reported on the Theme Parks boards a number of times recently. It's the new LILO system apparently. People over there seem to think it will get worked out eventually, but who knows?

When I was at ALV in Oct we bought tickets at the resort after check in. The were able to add DFs to his KTTW. I am a Florida resedent and my tickets had to be printed separately which I found odd.

Ugh, that sounds awful. Those paper tickets are so easy to lose or get wet! When we were there in August they put our paper tickets I had bought from Undercover Tourist on our KTTW, no problem. Now it sounds like that will no longer be possible :(

We've always gone the AP route so are used to the paper tickets. I think they're easier to carry when getting FP for the group since they are thinner. And everyone still has their own room key for charging or whatever. Honestly, never understood why the big complaint about having it separate.

This is really frustrating. We are buying tickets for our DD and soon to be DSIL. They are going to WDW on our points in September for their honeymoon. Everyone was planning on pitching together for park tickets and the dining plan as a shower gifts. But I don't want this to be an issue for them at check in. Maybe we should look at getting Disney Dollars for them instead. Can you order Disney Dollars online anywhere?

Stinks for us too. DH and I are going in May and using non-expiring tickets from a couple years ago. Maybe they will figure it out by May.

Yes, we had the same problem at OKW two weeks ago with our tickets. They gave the same excuse, but there were six of us for a 10 day stay and no one had any issues with the paper tickets. They were acutally pretty sturdy, I had mine in my pocket one day in the pouring rain for hours with no deteriation .

I don't really understand what is frustrating you. Buy tickets in advance from either Disney, Undercover Tourist or whoever - give them to the newlyweds (you can't buy them through Member Services anyway, so had to get them separately or at the resort). The DDP will be paid for in advance anyway I assume unless you booked their reservation before last October. Tickets never need to be added to the KTTW card (we prefer them separate now for getting FPs in the parks), so I don't see what the big deal is.

Disney dollars are actually difficult to find most of the time. If you wanted to purchase something like that, just get a Disney gift card (available everywhere - grocery stores, Walgreens, etc.). Then they could purchase tix at the resort at check-in using the gift card, or apply the gift cards to their room account and charge the tix on the KTTW card, etc.

Many options.

(And to all -they're not paper tickets, even though they seem like paper. They are Tyvek and are actually quite sturdy and even fairly water-resistant unless you're washing them in the washing machine.)

:surfweb:We are brand new DVC owners, and will be making our first trip as members in :cool1: July, 10th - 18th. :cool1: We plan on purchasing parkhopper and more tickets as well as the Disney Dining Plan.

I know we have to purchase the DDP and pay in full prior to the trip, 48hrs cut off.

Is there a cut off for the tickets or do we wait to purchase them at check in.

If we purchase them at check in will they (as well as the DDP) be on our KTTW cards?

:woohoo: thanks for your help

Yes, the dining plan can be added to your reservation up to 48 hours prior to arrival and you will pay when you call.

Tickets can be gotten anywhere, but MS does not sell them so you don't buy through DVC.

You can get them by ordering direct from Disney, either online or when you get there, or use a retailer like AAA or Undercover Tourist.

When you get there, the DDP will be on your KTTW card, just like when you go as a cash guest.

If you want your tickets as part of your KTTW card as well, you have to ask to get them loaded (and that is what sounds like people are having trouble with right now).

Since becoming DVC, we have not worried about loading tickets to the card. First, my DD and I had AP's but my other DD, DS, and DH didn't. I bought their tickets through AAA and then just kept them by themselves.

I didn't find it too cumbersome to carry the tickets and the ones from AAA were plastic, not Tyvek.

This year, we are going the AP route again (we buy every other year and get two trips out of them) so will just be ordering online through Disney with the DVC discount. For my DD's friend who is coming, I will either order her ticket through Undercover Tourist or through AAA since she will only need the park hopper ticket.

Thanks for the idea of a gift card. That makes a lot of sense. Then they can purchase the tickets when they check in and have them put on their KTTW. I like having everything on one card. The frustrating part for me, is that our tickets that we are using for our May trip are already on a KTTW card from our last trip. So now we will need to carry two keys each and try to keep track which is which all the time.

I've had AP's for over 10 years and never understood the big deal about carrying them separate either.
