I haven't been to DL for a couple years and just starting to plan for next summer. Is a theme park reservation still required at DL? Any end in sight for these? Wondering why they're no longer required at WDW but still a thing at DL. Thanks for any insight!

Yes, reservations still required. Probably not going away here…DL is a different beast. It works for staffing, crowd control, etc.

WDW still has park reservations. They just gave date-based tickets the highest priority - the "date-based" part serves as a reservation. Everyone else fills in the available space underneath - APs and convention multi-day tickets still need park reservations there. (If you still have an old 5-day parkhopper, for example, you would need park reservations, too.)

The main difference: WDW has substantially more park capacity and a much smaller local audience. They had room to loosen it. Short a major economic collapse, DLR's never really going to be in a position to do that.
