The year of living Disney - Autumn and deluxe dining TR**NEW TR LINK UP 1/16**

I always think of Bridesmaids whenever I'm on a plane :rotfl:

So funny, isn't it!?

I would love to take a feel good pill or get pretty tipsy on a plane and let my trip companion take care of me. I just worry though about getting sick since I get motion sick pretty easil

Bummer! I usually don't drink on the plane but you know, free drink cupons burnin' a hole in my pocket! Plus, vacation!

Knowing you only had half a day... and then Disney?
Piece of cake!

I'll take a half day of work then Disney anyday!

Nice! Wish I was closer. But I like where we live, so....

I guess I'm extra lucky because I like where we live too and it's close to work

You make it sound so... epic.
Biblical.
"The great wait hath commenced. Woe be it upon those who shall not wait."

It was epic!

Plus the front part of the plane is going to Miami.

:rotfl2:

Why? I had a reason.

We know we were going to land in the later part of the evening and didn't want to wait to have our luggage delivered. Plus we didn't want someone knocking on our door at midnight..."here's your stuff, you can go to bed now!"

So you didn't even have to stop in the lobby?

Nope. When we were on our way to the airport we got a text that our room was ready and what our room number was. I guess it's for those of us that are paid in full and have our MB's already and have done on-line check in. It's a beautiful thing! We didn't even go to the desk to check out.

well... I do want to know what else happened..... guess I'll stick around for a bit.

Ok thanks!

When I was originally planning on going with Ruby,
I was going to book POFQ.

Oh man! It's a really cool resort. Maybe someday?? Plus I love to take the boat to Disney Springs from there. You've never been there, have you??

Still have to wait and board last but I rather be waiting in the airport while everyone else is getting on than sitting in the plane while everyone else is getting off!

Me too! Waiting on the plane is the worst!

I love getting a room ready text before even leaving my house :goodvibes

This is the first time it's happened to me and it was awesome. I love being able to look at the resort map and see where we will be. But I'm a researcher and that kind of stuff is exciting for me

I'll take a half day of work then Disney anyday!

I'll take no work and Disney everyday.

Well, I can dream, can't I?

It was epic!

I knew it!

We know we were going to land in the later part of the evening and didn't want to wait to have our luggage delivered. Plus we didn't want someone knocking on our door at midnight..."here's your stuff, you can go to bed now!"

Ah. Gotcha.

Nope. When we were on our way to the airport we got a text that our room was ready and what our room number was. I guess it's for those of us that are paid in full and have our MB's already and have done on-line check in. It's a beautiful thing! We didn't even go to the desk to check out.

<sigh> Guess that'll never happen for me.
Paid in full and online check in? Check! But Disney won't send MBs outside the States.

Oh man! It's a really cool resort. Maybe someday??

Fingers crossed.

Plus I love to take the boat to Disney Springs from there. You've never been there, have you??

Our first on-site resort was POR. We took the boat to DTD (as it was called then) at least three times. Loved that perk.

Hi Kelly!!!! I'm here. Looks like a great start to your trip, but of course vodka makes everything great :-)

Can't wait to hear about your trip! My daughter and I will be doing our first Flower & Garden the first week of March. I'm so excited!!! We haven't been in 3 1/2 years so I have to support my Disney Addiction by reading about everybody's trips. Love your picture of you and your husband! Sadly, my husband is not a Disney fan. How Great to Celebrate your Anniversary in Disney! Even better to have an annual pass!

Hi Kari! So glad to have you here! Yes ma'am you're right about that!

My daughter and I will be doing our first Flower & Garden the first week of March.

Oh how fun! I've always wanted to go during F&G, we will catch it right at the beginning :goodvibes

We haven't been in 3 1/2 years so I have to support my Disney Addiction by reading about everybody's trips.

Oh wow, I'd be having some serious Disney withdrawal after 3 1/2 years! I bet you're so excited!

Love your picture of you and your husband!

Aww shucks! Thanks!

Sadly, my husband is not a Disney fan

You know, mine wasn't a huge Disney fan in the beginning either but after we went to Disneyland for the first time he caught the Disney bug! It was him that suggested that we go in December, I was shocked! But yea! I'll take it

I Absolutely suffer form Disney withdrawl:charac2:. I'm the local Disney Nut that has planned trips for friends just to get my disney fix. Unfortunately my husband thinks Disney is a one and done place . My special needs daughter and I Love Disney! I wonder if we will ever make it to Disneyland?Did you like it? We have taken two trips to Disney World together and can't wait to go back to our Happy Place!! Especially since we will be there right between our Birthdays:bday:. Can't wait to hear about the places you chose to eat at. Hope you had a special Anniversary Dinner?

Day 1 Part 2

Let's see, where did we leave off? Oh yes, we were starving! Our original plan on arrival night was to try to go to MK for a couple of hours because they were open until midnight but my husband isn't crazy about many of the QS options at MK so we scrapped that plan and went to Disney Springs!

We were lucky to catch a bus just as one was pulling up and got the whole bus ride to ourselves! Gotta love the private bus! Our driver was really nice and friendly and talked to us the whole way there, it was really fun. I think the new Disney Springs is really beautiful but wow, so many choices! We had originally thought we would go to Blaze Pizza but we have a similar place here called Mod Pizza and we were just there so we decided to go into Raglan Road and see what the deelio was there. By that time of night, i think it was close to 10:30, and it was seat yourself wherever you like so we chose a bench seat table near the back. There were still quite a few people there having a good time, it was a really fun atmosphere but a little bit on the loud side which kinda made it hard to talk.

Both Bob and I both ordered the fish and chips from their late night menu, which is a pretty shortened version of their dinner menu but we were both happy. The food came out pretty quickly and soon after that the band started up. They were really good and fun to listen to!

This is how our food came out and at first I was thinking "that's it?? But I'm starving!" But in the end it turned out to be perfect for me, my husband could have had 2 though

BTW this is not my photo, I had to borrow it from Raglan Road's website....because as you'll see in future posts I was seriously bad about taking food pictures on this trip! :rolleyes2

The fish was perfectly crispy and the chips were good, pretty standard chips, and I paired mine with a Magner's Cider and I think Bob had a vodka and 7up. You'll find that is his go-to beverage :drinking1.

We stayed a while to listen to the live music but after a while we needed to get out and walk after all the sitting we had done that day.

We walked Disney Springs for a bit, which I think is really beautiful at night, and did some window ogling

image.jpeg

Amorette's Pastry had the cutest cakes in the window! Aren't they amazing?!? I'm going to have to make it a point to go back and try something next time!

image.jpeg

After our nice walk we decided to head back to POFQ. Thankfully the rain had stopped and it was a beautiful evening.

We checked out a little bit of the resort and then it was time for bed, we had a busy week ahead of us!

Edited to add:

My favorite thing about this day: walking with my sweetie in an almost deserted Disney Springs

Miles walked this day: 3.3

Up next, goodbye French Quarter, hello Polynesia! :wave2:

That is so me too! It would be my dream job :cloud9:

Disneyland is fantastic, and so easy also! With both parks being just across a courtyard from each other, park hopping is a breeze. I hope you get there someday.

Especially since we will be there right between our Birthdays

Yea!! What a great way to celebrate!

Hope you had a special Anniversary Dinner

We did :flower:

We actually have a Blaze Pizza around here, and I didn't think it was anything special when we tried it.

We never made it to Amorettes but those cakes look delicious!

I'm here! Late (as usual), but I'm here!

Sounds like pretty much a PERFECT first day! (Well, except for the half-day at work... And the senior citizen invasion...) I love POFQ so much! Definitely my favorite of the Moderate resorts, I think!

I am on board!! Better late than never.

You helped me by answering my magic band issue, (Thank you so much!) and I saw your link at the bottom for this.

My son and I are staying for the first time at POFQ for a quick trip in January when I take him down for the Disney College Program. Of course, the Poly is our family fav and we will be there in July.

Love the humor!

Oh wow that is so cool!! You're going to love POFQ, it's awesome. That's so great that your son will be in the Disney College program!!! My DD 18 applied just recently, I'd love to hear how he likes it. I'd also love to hear any pointers on how he got accepted. Congrats to him!

Whoa, those cakes in Amorettes are adorable! That wasn't open yet the last time we were there and yours are the first pictures I've seen :) Going to make a point of stopping in there next month!
