They booked our tickets so fast we were not able to change our minds, otherwise I would probably had stayed till atleast Saturday with it being a long weekend. It is probably best that we get back to rest a little, although I don't know the next time we will ever get to California with the flight prices.

I have a humorous story about booking airfare to California. About 14 years ago, I needed to fly to San Jose to train a group of software folks about a piece of software that they were going to have to maintain. As a consolation for the hard work that I had put into this project, I was allowed to bring my wife and kids along. This was WAY before the internet. I was a card carrying CompuServe member and, as such, decided to try to book my own airfare using the EasySabre booking system. The booking screens looked just like those that travel agents and the airlines themselves used. Very confusing. But I thought that I could save the company some money, so I booked our flights. I was unable to get a direct flight to San Jose, but, to my delight, I found a direct flight home. At least I thought it was a direct flight. In parenthesis next to the flight was the number 3. Little did I realize that this meant that my "direct" flight was going to stop a 3 airports on the way from San Jose to Cleveland. We boarded the plane for home at 11PM after having spent the morning and early afternoon at Disneyland and driving the 6 hours from Anaheim back to San Jose. The plane's first stop. Ontario (California) Airport. Which is only a stones throw away from Disneyland. Ack. The plane then flew to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. And then to Nashville. From there we were supposed to fly the final leg back to Cleveland. Only our plane developed a problem. So we had to make other arrangements to get home. No problem. The airline put us on a plane not to Cleveland, but to Cincinnati. From there, we would take a plane to Cleveland. Meanwhile, my ears had plugged up and each time we ascended or descended, my head felt like it would explode. James was 2yo at the time and thankfully he slept for most of the flight. Sarah, on the other hand, was only 3 months old and Sue and I took turns holding our squirming bundle of joy (who has just learned to roll over on this trip).

My direct flight home took over 14 hours to get us safely from San Jose to Cleveland. While we were in Cincinnati, we made a long distance call to Sue's parents and begged them to meet us at home. I knew that James would be wide awake by the time we got there, and we needed grandparents to take care of him and baby sister while we recovered from the ordeal.

Needless to say, I learned my lesson about booking my own flights and I pay a LOT more attention to those little numbers. And I must say that online booking has gotten a whole lot easier (and much more idiot proof) in the last 14 years.

I'm sure that your trip will be a whole lot less eventful and a lot of fun.

:moped: Quick note for my package recipient....I forgot to put a note in the box after I had already written it out  So if you get the box of goodies with no name attached.....it's from me!!

 to all :moped:

LOL...that is a funny story, John. I'm sure it wasn't so funny then ;)

If I had little kids, I would choose Disneyland. CA Adventure is still developing and not as much to do there.
Disneyland has a lot of old favorites.....and Mr. Toad!! ::yes::
How exciting! You'll have a great trip!

Kristy.....Hi and bye :wave2:

Hey Kimmie....I got my Capt. Jack charm :teeth: It is beautiful!! ;)

Yes...Jeannie.....mystery trip :teeth: Yes, Lily had a subtle change this week ;) ...on Sunday ;)
Next one will be more noticeable.

slow day here in yaya land.

slow day everywhere... cat on lap so excuse the short post ;)

hiya Kimmie, always love seeing you. In my nice way I told Dawn that I will not be doing everything. light dinner and the comedy thing. I can skip spending at gameworks if there is time

Jeannie, the short of it was Dawn was telling about her bachelorette party. 5 things have been planned and I am just not into spending any more moneyon her really. I also was told in order to go back to her house we have to spend the night... no thanks... I don't always like to do that.

Yay!! An extra day in CA! I vote for DL too!!!

lol John, that's quite a story

ack Cleo keeps stretching and hitting buttons

Hi & bye Kristy

:wave2: hi Nancy :)

There done typing :p

Dr. sent me to the hospital, BP was 150/100. A little on the high side. They drew blood, had me on the monitors for 3 hours and sent me home. I'm to rest tonight and tomorrow and then i have another dr. appt for Thursday, so I will get the official word on whether or not I will be returning to work this year. my dr. pretty much indicated that I wouldn't be going back to work. But since my pressure was so high he wasn't really into talking, he wanted me to go directly to the hospital without so much as stopping to pick up a toothbrush! Alas, they sent me home to rest. So here I am on the puter! So Ethan is still happily cooking away. I'll keep everyone posted as I go to my appts.

John...your direct flight sounds like one I would end up with!

My best friend who left today, got to Charlotte, NC only to find that her 2:00 flight had been canceled and she would be going out at 430. Got a message on the machine at 615, saying she was still in Charlotte and that they were **hoping** to get her out by 830 tonight. The poor thing is not in her fancy electric wheel chair but a crappy manual one that she really can't control herself so she was stuck whereever they left her. I sure hope they got someone to move her to someplace where she could eat and potty b/c she has been stuck there a long time!!

Hi to all! I'm gonna hit the couch, suddenly my eyes don't want to stay open.

I'll check in later!
tara

 Tara.. just take it easy if you can. I just hope you can remain comfortable through the remainder of your pregnancy.

Well I took some allergy meds and my eyes are foggy now... I am trying to reply to PMs, but I have that glazed look I am sure... I'll get to long ones tomorrow ::yes::

Whewwwww, really long day here! DS's dad picked him up after school so I decided to hit the mall after work. I went in a different entrance than usual and got all excited when up ahead I saw "Bear". Thought I was gonna get me a BAB but, NO! It was a fake BAB store it was the "Bear Factory". :( So, I wound up with zilch. Got my DS some stuff at Old Navy  .

Anyway, all.
Yippee for the Shep family winning a trip and going to DL. How fun!
Tara-You take care of yourself and rest up. Glad you got to go home to rest.

Hey Kimmi & Jeannie!

TC funny story!

Alan was back trying to stir up more trouble, wasn't he? But, if he's a Skynyrd fan I guess he can't be
all that bad :teeth:

Liz, I've spent most of my week so far cleaning. I did get a $10 BaB GC so I hope to get there soon. Sissy really needs a new outfit. :teeth:

Sorry to hear you had a rough night. :(

Morning all! Quick post here.

Thought about the Bachelorette party. I will be an awful friend and have a big lunch that day so my meal will be cheap at wherever. Not spend any money at Gameworks if we go, which the more I think, the less likely that will be. Go to the comedy club which will be the most expensive part of the night and *maybe* spend the night. It will all depend on how I can work the next few weekends with sleeping. So Dawn won't know the difference... and I found out what happened to make her sound so 'witchy' She had 2 MOH. One local one not. The local one made plans for that night already (even though we've known about it for months what night) and not helping at all. I feel bad for Dawn. So Dawn is planning this with her out of town MOH who doens't know Columbus as well. Sucks doesn't it?

Anywho... Rose Mary, sorry you came across a fake BaB. I hope you run intoa real one soon!

Sherry, have fun at Shrek2 what a good mom you are ;)

I missed all the "good stuff" too. As Nancy said "naughty trolls" Happens on all sites.

Liz, I hope you are feelign better soon! As for my allergies... they will be here for a while. Cotton wood is the worst for me and so right now it's pretty bad.

Gotta go...

 Real quick "HI" to all! Must get busy. :( Didn't want to get up this morning.

Sherry-Review of Shrek 2 please! ::yes::

Liz-Got a space on my fridge just waiting for something to fill it up :teeth: .

:wave2:

Sherry..how was Shrek 2? I have $30 movie gc and would love to take the girls.

As for Disneyland...Mandy and Cassie have told me that want to spend their 2 full days on the beach. I guess they figure they will see the mouse another time.

Elaine...good plan. I often do the behind the scene thing to save money.

The SoCal beachs can be very crowded. Take it from someone who lived in Hermosa Beach right off the beach in the early 1980's. And if memory serves me, the ocean water may be too cold to go swimming. If they don't want to see the mouse, maybe you could take them to see Universal Studios. Oh wait. There's one of those in Florida too. Drat. How about the LeBrea Tar Pits?
