Well today was another day that the plan was to start off taking it easy, and to an extent it did start that way, but then things changed! But more about that later...

The plan today was to head to Downtown Disney for some breakfast have a look about, then head out to MK later on in the day. So we hoped on the bus and headed down to DTD, where we popped in to McDonald's for breakfast. Mallinda had the big breakfast with pancakes, biscuit and sausage, whereas I had a sausage and egg biscuit. I ordered a really nice iced coffee and when asked for a regular or large, I said i'd have a large...this thing was huge! The same size as their large juice cups. Breakfast was good, and afterwards we decided to head over to West Side as it's usually nice and quiet to have a walk around. The Wrigglemonster was in a really good mood, but sadly this was to change later on in the day. Again, more on that later. So we head off around to West Side taking a few photos along the way.

We let the Monster out to have a run about for a bit and she was really enjoying herself, then when we headed round to just past the Harley Davidson shop, that's when it ll went wrong.

Mollie fell as young kids do when walking. She was crying a bit and it looked as though her finger was bleeding. But we were wrong. It seemed as though she'd went face first into the pavement and had cut inside her mouth. With her crying, it must've mixed in with the blood (graphic, I know!) and her little t-shirt was covered in blood. Wasn't ideal for Mallinda either as she was wearing white trousers. At this point, she was howling (how bad parents do we feel). I was amazed at the amount of people who just walked past completely ignoring the situation. We bundled her back into her stroller and as she was still screaming, opted to head to first aid.

WELL, there isn't first aid at Downtown Disney!!!! We bumped into a security guard and asked about first aid. He said that the only place we could try was guest relations and he escorted us over to speak to someone there.

This was when we were told, actually there isn't anyone first aid trained at DTD, which I thought was a bit odd. They did however give us an ice pack for her face, which Mollie just kept pushing away. It was a wee shame as it was starting out to be a really good day, you really had to feel for the Monster. They did however opt to call in an ambulance which I thought was maybe a bit OTT. We opted to take her back to the resort so she could have a bit of a rest and Mallinda could get a freshened up. Needless to say, the Monster didn't sleep.

On a more positive note, the day picked up quite quickly after she'd had a rest.

So we headed back to the resort:

And then we opted to head over to MK. This was the day that the Monorail system had broken down so we got a small water taxi over to the Grand Floridian. The Monorails were down for a bit and MK actually extended it's opening hours to compensate for this.

This was the first ever time we'd been to the Grand Floridian and at first we were very 'do you think people will know that we don't stay here!?'. It was a very nice resort and I really loved the look of it, but as stupid as this sounds, I think it's a bit too 'grand' for us. We'd prefer someplace like the Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We went for a walk about and popped in to the lobby for a look about. Again, although it was nice, I feel that the Polynesian had more of an impact on me.

We went down on the beach have a walk and take some photos while the Monster slept off some of the trauma of the day!

I really liked the walk between the Grand Floridian and the Poly. It was just a nice relaxed atmosphere as we were away from the parks. We also wanted to head over the Poly as he had an ADR for Ohana's tomorrow so wanted to find our footing.

Some photos at the Grand Floridian:

So we headed over to the Poly, where on the way I stopped to take a ton of photos:

We then approached the Poly, where I would say, is a hotel that we'd love to stay at. I just loved how the feel of it.

Mallinda even found a statue of herself that must've been prepared before we arrived.

We had a walk round the resort and went up to check out Ohana's so we we knew where we'd be going tomorrow morning. It's not a particularly huge resort but it was a very nice one. I like the water feature in the lobby as a centre piece. Was thinking of putting on in my living room at home but then remembered that I lived in a two bedroom end terrace house!. Better be the back garden then...

The Monorail was still down so we decided to walk the path from the Polynesian to the Transport and Ticket Centre. It only took 5 minutes which was really good. When arriving at the T&TC, there were a few CM's advising that the Monorails were down and that they should take the ferry.

We headed down to the ferry and it was along in about 5 minutes.

Everyone piled off but there seemed to be a delay on getting on. It seemed a woman was suffering from sea sickness. By this point, there was a large crowd forming behind us (we were at the front of the dock). So we all had the pleasure, I kid you not, of watching a woman coming off the ferry, heaving over the side into the water over, and over, and over...in fact though, I felt sorry for the woman. Being sick is bad enough, but doing it in front of hundreds of people!?

Anyhoo, she was running on empty, so we managed to board the ferry across.

Now, not to bore you by a blow by blow account of our evening in MK (the real reason is that I can't remember, I will just talk about some of our highlights for the night. This night was really quiet for rides, especially when Spectromagic was on.

We managed to walk on the following:

Pirates of the Caribbean – I used the good old, use the right hand side if the queues. When we went in there was a queue quite a bit back on the left hand side so we went on the right hand side. I kid you not that we walked straight on with the other queue moving quite slowly. After Pirates, we took Mollie for her first Dole Whip Float!

Winnie the Pooh – Mollie's favourite along with Small World. She also liked the play park:

Tomorrowland Transit Authority – Although usually my favourite, it was somewhat lacking, what with all the refurb working going on.

sdc12499i.jpg

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

Haunted Mansion – There was SOME wriggling on this one!!!!
sdc12500m.jpg

sdc12501i.jpg

Aladdin's Magic Carpet – Mallinda was terrified that Mollie would leap out of the magic carpet
sdc12502.jpg

sdc12504.jpg

Snow White – in probably all the years I have gone to Disney, this was the first time we just walked on. It was dead. There was no queue whatsoever. You could even come off and go back on straight away

Peter Pan – Had to pick up a fast pass for this – the usual.

This day was one of the first (and only) cool days that we were there. We thought it was now going to cool down (as the weather was reported) over the next week, but we were all wrong! I'm looking at you FOX 35!

We also managed to catch some of the Dream Along With Mickey show when we first went in:

sdc12512.jpg

sdc12513.jpg

We decided to give the full Spectromagic show a miss as we'd seen it before and Mollie wouldn't settle to watch the whole thing. We did stop for a bit though and I had her on my shoulders for a look. I'm sure we'll be back again to see it. Plus we wanted to beat the crowds.

Whilst this idea was good, it was only until we queued for about a half hour on the bus, more or less with a big queue of people behind us, all getting narky. Hey ho, we're on holiday, so although it was a pain in the bum, nothing to get your red and yellow pants in a twist about.

The bus eventually arrived and if I recall correctly we just got off at the POR bus stop tonight. Tomorrow, we're heading to Ohana's!
