The worst ebay idea yet

The biggest problem with this idea, is that the person selling has the user id and password. What if he sells it, and then goes in and takes all the stuff? The person who bought it is left with nothing? This just sounds like a bad idea all around and a bad risk for the buyer.

THAT i agree with..could be a risk. Gotta love how "security minded" VMK is..and yet..we can't change our passwords.

Whether or not eBay is against vmk values is not what people are debating, we all know it is.

Hmm...what? My post doesn't have anything to do with ebay's view on selling virtual items. My post was simply a copy of VMK's official policy on the buying and selling of accounts and items. I thought that people may have missed this information as it is "buried" down several pages on the home page.

It is essentially up to the buyer and seller if they want to risk being banned for buying and selling VMK accounts and items. VMK may not be actively enforcing this house rule NOW, but who knows when they will? I believe they have the ways and means to track down the buyers and sellers, and they can solicit Ebay's assistance. Ebay does cancel auctions that attempt to sell products from some companies who have requested their items not be resold.

Eh, i think you might have misread what I said a bit, I was saying that most of us are well aware that eBaying items is not within the vmk values, but that really wasn't the issue being discussed so much as what people should and shouldn't spend their money on (ie "virtual" items, which quite honestly is what people spend THE MOST money on). That's what I have an issue with. Someone wants to come work my hours, do my job, and pay my bills then, and only then, can they tell me where i should spend my cheese.

Definitely if Disney wanted to stop it, they could and would (at least on eBay's end, not much they can do about "punishing" the individual buyers and seller). They are Disney afterall. lol. You just know some Disney mafioso is at the ready to cleanse eBay of all the vmk fortune hunters.

Actually there is a way to trace items back to an ebay seller, and get the ebay sellers information. Unless they have changed the way ebay works, you can look up a sellers profile and get there information such as contact number and email addy. It will ask for your information and theirs and ebay keeps track at who's looking at whose profile.

when you signed up for VMK, did you tell them your full name, address, phone number and give them a sample of your blood? No. Neither did I.

I have been selling VMK items on ebay for a while. Noone I have sold to has been banned because of it and neither have I. It does not take a brain surgeon to figure out how to get around their "rules".

Really, you people talk about "risk" but what risk? If the item does not live up to its billing, as lonmg as you pay with paypal, you can get your money back. If the guy selling the account says it has all these rare things, then the account does not, you can file a dispute, get your money back, and even have the member banned from ebay. That being said... my suggestion to all who might participate in this is plain and simple: check feedback. If the person selling the account has zero feedback and is forcing cash or money order, then dont buy. Only use paypal and only buy from people with positive feedback, especially those with VMK feedback.

Sure there is! Some people use the same titles they have here on the Dis boards as they do on eBay. Go take a look at the bidders.

Lol, I think you are reading too much into my posts. No, I did not misread what was said. I chose to NOT enter into the debate/discussion that the posters before me were having. I WAS posting in response to Lisa's OP -- the first half specifically. I was simply -- repeat here again -- posting VMK's offical policy regarding the buying and selling of accounts and items. My post was meant to be informative for those people who DIDN'T know VMK had an official policy or where it was located.

What's interesting then is how do some ebay bidders get our phone number to call dh about questions to his auctions? He does not list his phone number in his auctions. They have to be getting it some way. He also doesn't include his phone number in his mailings either.

anyone can easily change their VMK password. Check the Players Guide for instructions.
