June 9 Part 2 Our evening at the Magic Kingdom

I posted part 1 earlier - my writing on this day was just getting too long so I split it up into morning and afternoon.

The kids woke up from their naps pretty late considering how long it took us at the Coral Reef. But, they woke up rested and happy, so we felt pretty good about taking them back to the MK even if we got in a little later than usual.
When we got there, it was lightly sprinkling. We were amazed to see so many people heading out quickly and donning rain ponchos. It was so hot, we felt like the rain was evaporating off of us pretty quickly, but it was doing a great job of keeping us cool. So we went around pancholess and didn’t cover up DD’s stroller. I think she liked the rain, too! The first thing we did was go to the ticket booth to buy our park hoppers. Originally, I didn't want to spend the extra money, but now it was seeming to be definitely worth it! Total for three people: $111 after taxes.

Our first ride was the Jungle Cruise. The sign said a 25 minute wait, but we walked right on! Maybe they didn’t adjust the time after the mass exit from the rain. I missed this ride last time. We all had a blast, thought the CM’s jokes were pretty bad but funny, so that was pretty neat. Then, we headed for Pirates of the Carribean. Loved it! DS loves pirates so he got a big kick out of this ride. Not scared at all. We decided to eat at Columbia Harbor House. I had been there back in 97 and then read about it on the boards as being a good CS place. We went upstairs and didn’t see anyone else up there until we were leaving. That was such a great quiet place to have dinner that the food being good was a bonus! The fish and chicken were great and the apple pie was huge and very good. We enjoyed that meal a lot – even if DD did keep standing up in her high chair the whole time! When we left, DS kept talking about how he wanted to ride Splash Mountain. I was worried that it may be a bit much for him, so we talked him into Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as an in between ride to work himself up to the bigger one. We got fastpasses and then went to watch the Tiki Bird show while we waited. That was so much fun! DS kept dancing in his seat. I wish I had that on videotape! Then we went to BTMRR and did the baby swap. DS and DH went first and I waited with DD. When they came off, I said to DS, “was that fun?” and he responded with “Yes!” then I said, “are you ready to go again with me?” and he said, “NO!”. Guess he didn’t like it that much. But I was so proud of him that he rode it! I asked him, I guess this means you don’t want to ride Splash Mountain? Nope! Darn. Oh well, maybe next time! I went off and rode BTMRR for the first time by myself. (Pout) But it was still fun. Don’t know what I was so worried about last time, but hey, I am a chicken and I know it!

By this time it is about 8:00! Mind you, my kids are always in bed by 7:30 at home. So, we head on back to the hotel thinking they will conk out pretty quickly. Boy, were we wrong! They both seemed to get a second wind and a huge case of the sillies! DD could only crawl, but she was crawling around the floor faster than any baby I’d seen! DS was chasing her around and they were giggling and squealing. It was pretty cute and we had a good time watching them. I just kept thinking, when are these two going to get tired? We had a stack of towels in the floor and DD was playing in them like they were a pile of leaves. She was trying to stand up, too. She would get on her hands and feet and push up, but she didn’t quite get it yet. Before the trip, we’d been joking that she would learn to walk at Disney World. Well, we still have 4 more days! DS didn't go to bed until 10:30 - probably a first for him!

Up next – yet another day at the MK, time to adjust our plans again?
