I just wanted to post this for any musical people- Fred was a wonderful, albeit quirky, and extremely talented individual.

The world is now missing a gifted musician, & my Husband and his colleagues are now missing their beloved teacher, coach, & friend.

If you have the time, please take a moment to view the youtube clip on that news station's webpage... it's not very long, but it definitely showcases his talent.

Also, if possible, please keep Fred's family & the students at UGA's School of Music in your thoughts.

Thanks for the info. I forwarded it to DS, who's also a musician-trumpet performance. No doubt he's heard of him.

Bump for the evening crowd...

Simba's Mom- you're welcome. If your son hasn't heard of him, I'm sure that his teachers/professors have. Fred was an incredible performer and teacher.

As it stands so far, the memorial service should be rather large & filled with lots of talented people from Fred's performing life & from the lives that he touched as a professor.

I just saw the clip. He was truly wonderful.

My condolences to everyone who loved him and his music. Such a terrible loss.

Thanks for sharing

Actually my son knew who he was and was very grateful for the info.

Moon, thanks for watching- I feel so lucky to have known him personally, albeit for only a few years.
Simba's Mom- I'm glad that I could provide that info for your son... even if it wasn't happy information.

I will be forever thankful for all that he has given my Husband. Even though my Husband is a trombonist, he's learned SO much from his time working with Fred. The memorial service will definitely be emotional for all involved- nothing's completely confirmed/set in stone yet, but there are several individual musicians, as well as the current Canadian Brass that are hoping to make it & perform.
