My DS20, Matt worked full time at internship this summer and treated me to a trip to Disney. We flew SW out of Indy on Sunday arriving at 230pm. We rented a car from Dollar and drove to our home base the Contemporary resort. I stayed here the first year it opened, November 1971 (I'm 52). Last time I stay here was 1982!
Even though I did online checkin our text never came and it was after 4. They had put us in king bed room -- CM got that changed and we were 4744 a queen TPav on north end. I'll say I HATE connecting rooms and this is a connecting room BUT we never heard a sound from our neighbors. Funny we met them last night because we wondered if room was empty. I will say there was a trampoline in the room above us from the sounds of it! Room was beautiful, view spectacular and hotel very pretty. Beds comfortable and mousekeeping great- we had 4 showercaps daily!
In April I participated in the DVC phone presentation. Took 30 minutes and got 3 FPs for each of us. We walked to MK and onto Main Street at 5PM to the flag ceremony. Maybe I got misty eyed. Walked towards Space and to DVC kiosk to get them to link our 3 FPs. This is the interesting part- CM there said since it had been 3 months I could do presentation AND DS could. We'd each get 3 more FP plus $100 gift card. So we arrange for that on Monday. We rode several rides that night never more than 20 minutes wait. Ended on Aladdin carpets at fireworks finale- beautiful!
We had Garden Grocer deliver our food and that was great. Breakfast in room every morning.
Monday we got up and went to Epcot via monorail. Got TT in twice, Soarin and Frozen. The single rider line on TT is great! No more than 20 minutes wait again. Brats and beer for me for lunch then DVC picked us up to go to Poly. One hour later each had 3 FP and gift cards. Returned to DHS. Here we did GMR, RnRC and TOT favorite saying again no more than 20 minutes wait. Hit MK via Express bus which was great and I'd recommend highly. Can't remember what we rode but major rides and less than 20 minutes.
Tuesday EMM in MK. Walked over and hit pictures on Main Street with no crowds, ride 7 Dwarves 5 times, PP, Winnie, tea cups and merry go round. Breakfast was good. Had 930 KTTK tour which was amazing! Peter was our guide. Lunch Tomorrowland Terrace and rode JC and HM. After that had FP for all 3 mountains which we rode. Earlier in day a CM just handed me 2 paper FP for a party of 5 to use on any ride and said pay it forward. We along with 3 new family members rode BTMRR and Splash. Long day so fireworks from balcony. No more than 20 minutes wait.
Wednesday was AK morning knowing Navi FP. OMG the masses heading to Avatar! Never seen anything like it. We went to safari and were on 2nd tour. Animals were active. Then EE twice and onto FP for Navi- beautiful ride but personally we wouldn't do 70 minutes standby. At 945 standby for FOP was 255 minutes! We were done at AK and got lunch offsite. Went back to Contemporary and chilled for a bit. Hopped monorail and visited Polynesian, walked to GF and listened to piano player. We saw new memorial for little Lane and went to MK. We did train and another ride before taking Express bus to AK to our ROL dinner package. Ate at Tusker House and did rides in Dinoland. Saw ROL which was ok, and Express bus to MK for EMH. Rode major rides- SM, BTMRR,HM etc with no more than 30 minutes wait. Walked back exhausted to room.
Thursday last day and FOP FP! Got to AK and went to EE riding 3 times by 920! Then off to FOP- this was longest wait of week. 30 minutes in FP line and it was amazing. Favorite ride! Drive to Epcot and single rider TT. Lunch offsite then DHS. Arrived there at 230. We did TOT 4 times (once after Fantasmic), RnRC, TS twice, Indiana Jones and Star Tours. Saw Fantasmic and were at hotel at 1015. Longest wait of week was 30 minutes.
Parks crowded but planning and FP made manageable. Great CMs and people in lines! Talked to many nice people. Had Memory Maker which we enjoyed.
Back home today full of great memories of mom / son trip
