The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I was reading a post on another thread about the "H" word... dare I saw it... hurricanes.

We're going in August, if one was to hit how does the lodge handle it?

Is there food available? Etc?

Let's hope none of us every have to find out!

I don't know, and I hope to not have to find out, but if I had to endure a hurricane, I think WL would be the place to be..with everything in 1 building, you would be able to get to all 3 restaurants, the mercantile, lobby, etc without having to go outside. I'd hate to be stuck in my room all day for who knows how long.

Hi! :cool2: We're staying at WL next week. :cheer2: Does anyone have a copy of the activities schedule for July that they could please post?
(I guess I should also ask, does the schedule change weekly or is all of July the same?) TIA!:cool2: (ps: I'm specifically wondering about the movies on the beach, what's showing and on which night)

one more question! Are the new mug styles there yet? I  them and will be sad if they only have the old ones!

Room confusion.

Looking at the DIS resort board I see Standard rooms, Woods view, Courtyard, Bunkbed, etc... But when you move to the Old Faithful Club its only a standard room. Does that mean you get any of the above views on the 7th floor.

What would be the best to request? My 7 year old DD REALLY wants a bunkbed, we're staying CL.

Thanks.

Only a few more hours before getting up and heading towards the promise land!!

^^^ Enjoy your stay! I couldn't be more happy for you. We had such a great time in MK at the WL. Our stay was soooooo enjoyable! :cloud9:

You are right...you can end with any view up on Club Level...but just make your requests to the IPO and they will try and meet your requests!! When we stay CL we like a couple of specific rooms that we ask for or any other interior courtyard and we have always gotten what we requested!! Now, I am not exactly sure of how many bunkbed rooms there are, but just make sure to put that as your first request!!:goodvibes

Are there bunkbed rooms with a courtyard view? Do you have a room number?

What's the best view?

Sooo confusing!

When we stayed CL at WL in May, we were in a Courtyard view with Bunk beds. I do not remember the room #, but when I checked in and spoke with the CM's at CL they told me there were a total of 4 CL rooms with bunk beds.

Wow! Only 4 rooms. Don't like those odds. I asked pretty please for a bunk bed room with the IPO. My DD has always wanted one but we live in an old farm house and the low ceiling and narrow doors makes it impossible to have one.

Good luck! I hope you get it! My kids love the bunkbeds...that's their favorite thing about staying at the Lodge. I booked whatever category had bunk beds available, b/c I knew that would make the trip more magical for them (and DH and I don't have to deal with them fighting trying to share a regular bed) I never realized until now that you "get what you get" with CL as far a view and bedding types. I hope your DD gets her bunkbeds and loves them.

FYI...if she wants to sleep on the top one, turn the ceiling fan off before she climbs up...it freaked my kids out a first. The way it's positioned, I think it would be really hard to be hit by it, but try explaining that to a little one who is scared it will "get me".

Don't worry!! I just spoke with someone and they said that that CM must have been mistaken about the only 4 CL bunkbed rooms! :)

There are 43 regular (standard) rooms - these rooms are all views.
There are at least 1/3 of those room will be bunkbed rooms.

Now, there are only 4 honeymoon suites. (That's where they thought the CM got mixed up). :confused3

One Vice Presidential, and one Presidential.

There are deluxe suites but those are on the ends of the wings of other floors.

Believe me if you ask and them remind the IPO about 5-10 day before you shouldn't have a problem.

GOOD LUCK!!

I will be there next weekend, so if there is anything else you need me to find out I can!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for clearing that up. The lodge is the most confusing hotel every! Once I got it through my thick head the 7th floor was all CL and you never know what "type" of room you'll get I understood.

I would love a report on CL food from your trip.

Thanks! Enjoy!

I have managed to talk my husband into the WL for two nights in March before we move over to SSR. I am so excited! I have two questions:

Do all rooms have balconies? I remember how worried I was when we stayed at the Poly that we wouldn't get a balcony, and I am hoping a larger percentage of WL rooms have them.

As for as views, I am thinking Woods View. I know I have seen some rather not so nice view pictures of parking lots, dumpsters and a "meat house" and I assume those were all standard. It doens't have to be a stellar view, but I don't want to look at a dumpster if I paid for the upgrade!

Thanks for any help you can give me. My husband is really wanting to make sure we get a balcony and I need to assure him so I can make my reservation!

All the rooms at Wilderness Lodge have balonies, except for the first floor rooms with a patio.

If you book woods view, you will get a nice view, with a balcony and no dumpster. If you request the north side, you may even see a glimpse of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. :)

I would make sure to request Northwing upper floor if you want the best woods view room. Some of the woods view rooms off the lobby don't have the best view. You can see the service area..etc.

All the WL rooms have balconies...unless you're on the ground level and have a patio.

In May we were first given a Bunk bed room on CL floor, this was facing the villas. We had to swap as the bunk beds were not suitable for our family.

Whew, finally made it through this awesome thread! As far as I can tell there are plenty of inner courtyard, higher floor fanatics out there but I'd like to hear from anyone who has stayed in a ground floor room. If you have, please post your experience and note your location (inner courtyard north or south, woods north or outer courtyard/villas south. Staying at WL for the first time 8/29-9/6 with DH and DSs, 12 & 19, and stressing over room location.
