The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I just upgraded to the WL from POFQ for May 2-9 and I am hoping it will be worth the money. I am also afraid of missing out on something even though we will be there for a full week. Does anyone have any suggestions of things we need to make sure we do/see at the WL itself? This will be my third visit (but first as an adult) and first for DH, DS15, and DS6 and I want it to be the best vacation possible for them.

There is a tour of the WL every morning at about 9am. Last about an hour. The tour show you everything from how the lodge was built and what some of the decoration meant. It's also very educational.

Also, when you check in, ask if you can sign up for flag raising ceremony. That's a first come first serve appointment. Very hard to get. You get to raise the flag on the roof and take pictures from view you normally won't get to see.

Thanks, I appreciate the tips!! I am getting so excited, I can hardly contain myself!!

Yes, there are connecting rooms at the Wilderness Lodge they are request not gauranteed, depends on make-up of guest staying in the rooms. When we have been traveling with younger children we have always received connecting rooms. When traveling with other adults we received adjoining rooms.

Beckie

Are the connecting rooms located throughout the resort (standard view, woods, etc) or are they mostly located in one or two sections?

Ok....I've got the WL "bug" and we're not going till December. I'm giong stir-crazy already, just trying to pass the time, and i have a long way to go. Just starting to think about room requests...I booked Woodsview Bunk beds. I think I might go for north wing, to be closer to the boat dock. I'm also thinking of not making any requests and leaving it up to Pixie Dust. Who knows though...I still have a loooong time to wait, and I'm sure I'll change my mind about 20 times before then!!

They are scattered throughout for the most part. There may not be a whole lot of connecting Standard Views, but the other views seem to have a good amount.

We are going in December and my parents are coming along too. Going with Dreams Unlimited but do have two ressie numbers....and are traveling with two children...do you think we will have a good chance at getting connecting rooms??? Just wondering....I can certainly request at check-in if I need to.

Thanks everyone!!

I would fax them a request a few days before you arrive to increase the chances of getting connecting rooms.

I have not tried it yet but maybe you can request it for on line check-in.

Wow Im making my first visit to disney world and have Reservation at CBR ,After seeing these rooms here wow.If I were to swith my reservation to here I really want one of these new renovated rooms and not get stuck with one of those older looking rooms. What should I do ?I can only afford to upgrade to The standard view, Do they have standard rooms renovated?

How would an adult fare in a bunkbed? Would it be too tight of a squeeze? We're looking for an option so our child would not have to share a bed, but now after I booked the courtyard view w/ bunkbeds, I am starting to wonder if the adult going would be uncomfortable.

Also, are there bay lake/geyser views with the courtyard view/bunkbed rooms?
That would be my dream view, but I am wondering if the bunkbed aspect would hinder that chance.

Would it be out of line to fax and make a request for a bay lake/geyser view?

So they all have those nice flat screens?

Yes, all rooms at the lodge have flat sceen TVs. Remember, the renovations were done a couple of years ago, and there is some wear and tear visible in the rooms. But, then again, you have to think about how many guests come and go through those rooms!

The WL does keep their rooms very nice, clean and comfortable. IMO

P.S. - I thought I read that the CBR rooms were recently renovated and received new flat screen TVs.

That would depend on how big the adult is. My DH is 6'1" and his feet hung off the end, but width wise it was fine. Then again, his feet hang off the queen beds they have at the lodge. ;)

Bunk beds are located in both the woods view and courtyard view rooms. They are scattered through the resort, so you can have the view you are looking for, if the room is available when you check in. There are MANY, MANY bunk bed rooms available so it won't hinder your chance. Sometimes I think there are too many. Don't worry.

Faxing would be fine, but make sure you also put your requests on your reservation by calling CRO. The room assigners are there to make magic happen if they could so they will try to do their best. I do know that they look at the reservation's requests when they are downloaded to the resort. ;) Again, don't worry. If you don't get the view you want, ask again when you get to check in.

Thank you so much :) I will make sure I call to have the request added to the ressie too.

We're all so excited to be staying at WL :yay:

Thanks again for your help :) :)

I am wondering the same thing. We have a res at Tusker House at 8am and am wondering what is the best way to get there? A cab or Character Bfast bus? Anybody?

I may have missed it, but I did not see an answer for this question. Does anyone know the best way to get to a Tusker House Breakfast by 8:00 AM? I thought about a cab, but I thought I read something about cars being held out of the AK parking lot and busses being able to pass. But then again I don't want to be waiting for a bus that does not arrive either...

It's official we're booked for WL Aug 23 - 29.

Since it's our 10th anniversary I wanted to go large! Deluxe resort and club level.

We booked the room only with a 40% pin code, that really helped. We'll figure out the rest as we go along. We're only planning parks for 3 days, then a week on the Magic.

I asked for a queen with bunks. Will I get it?

Any suggestions or advice send it my way!

From the first page of this thread: Character Breakfasts Service will begin ½ hour before the earliest seating. The marquee on the bus will read "Character Breakfast." It should be noted that guests should verify with the driver which park the bus is going to for the character breakfast because there are different ones for different parks. They have the flexibility to allow direct transportation to the theme parks, and area resorts.
