The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I forgot what I came to ask in previous post.

I looked at the pictures of the rooms on the new WDW website. They have finally updated them.
My question is, the double room with no balcony, is that a picture of a suite room? I thought all rooms had a balcony and that maybe the suites entered onto their balcony from the other area of their suite. :confused3

I would like to know this too.:goodvibes How many cups do those in room pots make??:scratchin :coffee:

We stayed at WL last week and I brought my own coffee from home in hopes to make coffee each morning. I assumed that there would be filters. Wrong! The coffee the resort provides is in pod like little packets. I looked in the merchantile to see if they had filters and no such luck!!

I didn't use the packets that they provided, I probably should have because it would have been better then the Nescafe they serve in Roaring Forks!!

So I was perusing Disney's new website & checking out the WL info. Under transportataion, it says that Downtown Disney is accessable by boat/water taxi. Is this true? Is it new? I don't think I'd ever heard mention of that before, but I figured that someone here would ceratinly know. :flower3: Thx

No. MK is accessible by boat from WL. There is also a launch to the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness.

The only way to get to DTD from WL is by bus.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I thought. I was guessing that it's just another of the many mistakes on the new website. :lmao:

I agree, the new website definitely needs some help. I thought I was losing my mind earlier trying to find parade/show times for April. I found park hours, but not the day-by-day details the old site had.

Still haven't found it....:sad1:

No it is not true from the WL, but it is true that it is accesible by water taxi from P.O. and from SSR. The new Tree Houses will be included in this also once they are built.:thumbsup2

I'd venture to guess that the leaving off of the day by day details was intentional. By not publishing the parade and show schedule 6 or 3 months ahead of time, it leaves them free-er to adjust things to accomodate economic climate & crowd levels. But when you know they've done things like cut Fantasmic! back to only 2 or maybe 3 shows a week, it is frustrating if you wanted to make sure that you got to see it while on vacation.

The level of misinformation and blatant mistakes on disney's new site is astounding though.

If you were selected to be a Flag Family (and I know that's a big if), what time does that take place. I think I recall that we need to ask about being selected when we check in. But, I'm looking at my itinerary and depending on what time it is, it might not fit our schedule so no sense in requesting it!

Also, if anyone knows the answer to the prior question about the size of the coffee filters, that would be great. I'm debating whether I would bring coffee since we will be buying the refillable mugs, but sometimes it's nice to have a cup of coffee before getting dressed or brushing my hair! You can get brewed coffee in the refillable mugs, right?

I don't drink coffee, but my husband does. He said they make 2 cups (mugs and styrofoam cups available). They are the packages with the coffee and the filter in one, you just put them in. The choices are decaf, regular and my husband said they had one other flavor, but can't remember which.
They had about 5 different tea choices there which is what I drank. The coffee in Roaring Forks is good (according to DH) and I like that they had sweet tea and iced tea available. I'm from up North, we don't have "sweet tea" up here, but I tried it one day and it was delicious!!!

I will put filters on our list for sure!:thumbsup2

We are definitely bringing on our own coffee with us. DH hates the Nescafe and can't function without his coffee.:coffee:

My husband and I have been dreaming of staying at the Wilderness Lodge and Celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2010! I really did not think it would ever happen but it looks like it is going to! We reserved rooms at the LODGE for 5 nights in January 2010 and tonight my best friend (she is my niece by marraige also) and I will be paying our deposit! There will be 4 adults and two children going unless other family members decide to go also. I am so excited I can't contain myself!:cool1:

I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you and can't wait to be greated with "Welcome Home!"

I do have one quick question. Does anybody know what time the Electrical Pagent Passes WL on friday night in January? I found a list of times but it was for the summer when the parks stay open late. Thanks in advance for your help! :wave2:

I have a question about the bunk bed rooms. My brother will be nearly 6 foot tall when we go on vacation. Yeah he is one of those jolly green giant teenagers :rotfl2: Will he be able to fit on a bunkbed? What size are the bunkbeds? TIA for any help!!

Congrats on booking your trip!!! :cheer2:

We stayed at WL last week, Jan 3rd - 12th, the EWP passed by every night around 9:30 - 9:35!

Enjoy all the planning! It will be here before you know it!

We stayed in a bunkbed room last week. I think the bunkbeds are meant for smaller kids. My 7 and 6 year old kiddos were comfy in then but I tried to lay in the bottom bunk and couldn't do it. I'm 5' 7". Granted I'm a lot less flexible then a teenager. There is very little head clearance between the bottom bunk and top and the top and ceiling. I don't think he would be very comfortable!

Good luck!

We were the flag family last month, on 12/23. We had to report to the lobby at 8:15 a.m. It was a wonderful experience! It does interfere with being able to be at the parks at opening, but we didn't mind b/c we were there for 10 days. Ask when you check in if any days are open.

My daughter is 5'10". I called the lodge, and they said that the bunkbeds are not meant for anyone that tall. I really believe she was being honest. She thought that we would be more comfortable in 2 queens. My daughters do not like to share a bed. One is a light sleeper and one is a restless sleeper. However, they are willing to get over it for this trip so that we can stay at the LODGE!!! I have great kids.:cheer2:

We have never stayed in a deluxe before. We stayed at POR in 2007. We liked the privacy curtain between the sink area and the bedroom. Does the WL rooms have this? We are staying in a standard woods view room.

I'm thinking maybe not because the sink area opens onto the little hall, not right into the bed area. Am I right?

At least this was my experience with a courtyard room.
