The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

We have reservations for a courtyard view bunkbed room. I just called and requested an inner courtyard view room off the main lobby if at all possible. I'll be very interested to see what we get when we arrive at the hotel after 10:00 PM on our arrival date...

My family and some friends will be arriving at the Wilderness Lodge tomorrow. :woohoo:

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should take my laptop. Last year I didn't use it, but I do have a couple of matters I need to check on next week. I have searched and searched on-line to find an answer to my question, but alas, no luck!

Does the Wilderness Lodge have a business center with an internet-connected computer?

Thanks so much for your help!

No they don't, however if you take the boat to the Contemporary their convention center has a business center with computers to use the internet. I believe their hours are from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, although I don't remember them 100% and the cost for using the computers is $10.00 for every 15 minutes.

I've read the first few posts, and looked around the official Disney site, and don't see the info I'm looking for. What I'm wondering is if there is any sort of radio, or CD player in the second bedroom of the two bedroom units at VWL. My little guy (DS4) won't go to sleep without his music, so I want to know if I'll need to pack a radio or not.

Take the WL boat to MK, then hop on the direct monorail or ferry from MK to the TTC (make sure not to get on the resort loop in this case, as the CR stop can take a long time). As for picking between the direct monorail or ferry, I'd just go with whichever one is there first.
Thanks for the info! Do you know if there's a bus that goes directly to the TTC? Or do most people just use the park-specific bus straight from the WL? I'm trying to imagine getting to ADRs at specific times, and how much time we'd have to add as a "cushion" for transportation compared to staying at a monorail resort.

Using the TTC as a hub to get to other places when you are staying at the WL doens't work very well.

In my opinion the quickest way to get to the parks is by taking the bus. The more times you have to switch from boat to monorail etc... the longer the trip will take.

I love taking the boat to CR and catching the monorial but it is a long walk from the boat dock to the monorial. This is probably still the best way to get from WL to the other monorail resorts...but it doesn't make sense to do this to get to the EPCOT.

If you need to get to the EPCOT resorts you should take the bus or boat from WL to MK and then take the bus from MK to that particular resort.

That also would work when wanting to visit the Value and Moderate Resorts, since they all have buses which go to the Magic Kingdom.

From our experience the TT is great to use if you are not in a hurry and just want to do the boats & the monorail. If we're not staying all day at Epcot we will use that as a way to return to the WL.

Okay...so there IS a bus from WL to TTC? In addition to the boats to CR and MK, and the buses to AK, EP, and DHS?

I did not think there was one either. Used to be everything went through there but lately they are direct bussed to the parks to the best of my knowledge.

Okey dokey. Thanks! It sounds like they make it relatively simple to get to the parks...park resorts might take an extra step, but still doable.

There have been times, especially when the MK bus stops were being upgraded, that the WL bus has gone to the TTC rather than straight to MK. But as of right now, I do not think any buses from WL would even stop at the TTC.

As other posters have mentioned, using the TTC as a transport hub isn't really as easy now as it used to be, when it really was more of a hub for buses as well as the monorail.

But, if you really have a yearning to see the TTC, you could hop on the boat from WL to MK, then get on the ferry or monorail from there to the TTC. If you want a scenic route to EPCOT, for instance, you could do this, and then get on the EPCOT monorail at the TTC. But by no means would this be anywhere near as fast or easy as simply getting on the EPCOT bus at WL.

Hee! No particular yearning to see the TTC... just looking for quick and easy ways to 'Ohana and 1900 Park Fare! :)

Thank you! I think we will probably be spoiled rotten after the Polynesian, but that still sounds pretty doable to me -- especially if we planned to spend most of our time at MK or EPCOT.

We stayed at the GF for many years before switching to WL. Yes, we were spoiled by the monorail, but, I have found that taking the buses isn't really much of an inconvenience. The DD bus is definitely the one that comes least often. I love taking the bus to Epcot rather than changing monorails. It is all quite doable! Enjoy!

Booked a Studio at the Villas in September.
Does anyone have any tips for the studio location?Rooms with good view etc.

OK, I know this has been posted (I just read 114 pages of posts, so please forgive me!) - am I correct that bunk beds now cost more? So if I don't request them for non-CL, I won't get them? D wants to sleep in her own queen bed, and since there are only 3 of us . . .

And how long do the busses to Epcot, DHS and AK take? We're going in January; since the park operating hours are already so short, we wondering if we shoudl just rent a car so as not to waste time!

Thanks all!

Does WL do anything special for Christmas? I know they have a beautiful tree in the lobby. However, I understand other deluxe resort have special things going on for Christmas.

Is there anything they do on Christmas Day? Do the characters visit? Do they leave a little trinket gift for guests? Do they do anything special in the concierge (club level :goodvibes )?

Looking foward to learning all I can about Christmas/New Years and Wilderness Lodge. :santa: :yay: :cool1: :santa:

Thank you in advance.

Hi all... I got back last night and had one of the best vacations of my life! Topped only by girlfriend only trips--- this trip was with ds 11 and me--- dd 14 and dh stayed home--- IT WAS MAGICAL for ds and I.
it was our second trip there (1st in 2003 August)... had an inner courtyard room--- view fine, not outstanding (in corner of courtyard) but fine. had to look over rail and to left to see pool, lake but could also do this and see the eletrical pagent water parade ( I could here the music to it from my balcony).

a couple of things about the transportation I read from WL threads last week--- concierge does have some incorrect/outdated info about buses, ect. And there definitely needs to be a covered area at MK to wait for the boat back... we did get to see WISHES from this spot at the dock twice (so the canvas covering being absent worked to our advantage ). But everyone was so nice--- and helpful----

I used the bus to Mk more than I planned as it was AIR CONDITIONED-- and the quick 4 minute ride was a bonus. but the AC was a key factor--- especially since we got stuck more than once just idling in the lake waiting for traffic, boat traffic.... in the hot sun;

Also, using the boat to MK or CR to get to other places via monorail is great but remember the direction to monorail runs--- MK via monorail to GF is a long ride--- the resort monorail goes clockwise (MK-CR-TTC-Poly-GF-MK) I often got to mk by bus THEN used the poly/GF boat (very quick) to the resort....

What else? check in, baggage services excellent- a bell person named arnie was awesome--- explained things to us as he was unloading bags, groceries from green grocer (no problems with this service btw)
mousekeeping--- works incrediblely hard--- always clean dry pool towels, rooms impeccable....
food: roaring forks (counter service)--- breakfast quick and good, I liked their different sandwich offerings... ds lived on the chicken tenders... we got fresh fruit there often- no problems....HINT: check fresh by dates-- nothing was outdated but was good only until that date( I might get a bowl of grapes for dessert but save them for another day--- and by then getting mushy)

Did WCC for dinner and breakfast--- not outstanding but no complaints----
minor antics--- which was fine with us.

what else??? hmmm..... having withdrawal--- do wish they sold soda in 6 packs (like beer) instead of single cans... but that isn;t with the resort itself... Laundry- $6 total for a load (wash/dry) not anything heavy.... but worth it as less to pack, carry. ect

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions....
Jill
