It maybe silly, but I am having a hard time getting excited about the WL in July. We have always stayed there in the Fall and Winter; and in the summer at one of the more 'tropical' resorts. Please, tell me how wonderful the WL is in the summer. We are staying on the CL and I really want to get excited about staying here again. The WL seems like such a warm and toasty resort that it is hard to imagine it in the summer. I know I am crazy, that why I am asking you guys to help me out!!

I have to preface this by saying that I have never even been to WDW in the summer...we prefer cooler fall/winter temps...BUT...I picture WL in the summer as a Mountain Lake Lodge...just as perfect as it is in fall and winter!:thumbsup2

Okay, totally stoopid question here folks. We are booked for a honeymoon suite for July 31 - Aug 9. YAY! :woohoo: I booked this through Disney reservations on May 17. After reading through this thread, I'm wondering if someone was supposed to contact me?? :confused3 Sorry for seeming so clueless, but I've only stayed on resort property once (CBR in Feb this year and was sick the entire time!!!) so I've no clue what to expect with CL. I thought I was supposed to get an email confirmation when I made the reservation (got a confirmation number from them) but have received zippo mundo in writing.

As my 8 year old would say... halp!!! :rotfl:

We were there last July 4th (at the villas). It was my first visit to the Lodge, so I can't do a comparison, but I will tell you what I did like:

1)It was quiet, quiet, quiet after a day at the parks. The parks were crazy, as we expected, but coming home to the villas was such a nice treat.

2)We rented Sea Racers one day and had a ball. I would highly recommend it! It's great in the late morning before it gets too stifling hot outside.

3)The boat over to Magic Kingdom was nice, even when it was hot.

4)Awesome Pool Bar!

5)Being able to walk along the many pathways that were shaded and "cool".

6)The WHOOSH of cold air in your face when you enter the beautiful lobby.

7)Pool side pool party. Fun to watch and join in even if you don't have little ones.

8)Awesome Pool Bar!

I understand that you've been there before, so you know what a peaceful, tranquil place the Lodge is. Now imagine how nice it will be when the crowds are crazy and it's 95 degrees. :cloud9:

Hi LuvvsMickey,
I contacted the Wilderness Lodge IPO today by email about our upcoming stay in Oct. They were very nice, I already received a reply. Here's the address:
Wilderness.Lodge.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.com
I introduced us, asked some questions and so on. You'll want to contact them right away, since you're stay is coming up soon.
I put our dates, followed by our reservation number in the subject box of the email. Please let me know if I can be of any more help.
Have a wonderful stay!!! Bliss

does anyone know the manager of the hotel, if so plis quote me and answer me

Does anyone know if there are stations at WL for these?

DD loves both, we've done them at other resorts.

Thanks!

Bliss - Thank you so much for your reply. Now I have a teensy l'il problem. I've no clue what I want. :rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: Can ya help me with that too??? :lmao: (I'm kidding!) I'm really starting to stress out and I don't know why. Ugh. I think because our last stay, which was supposed to be this wonderful, magical and amazing once in a lifetime trip, was a TOTAL bust. And I do mean total. We were all SO sick and my poor father almost died. I had no taste or smell so the dining plan was a big disappointment. I had all this amazing food to choose from and couldn't taste any of it, not that I was able to eat much anyways. I am so scared to get excited about this. I need someone to pump me up!!! :cheer2:

edit cause: Geeze...I tried to quote your message in my post but because I have fewer than 10 posts I am unable to post an email address?! WTH? It's your own post! Man, I'm really not feeling the love today. :(

Make sure you put in a request for a room with a view! There are 4 suites. 2 have a view of the loading dock. 2 have a view I think of the lake. We had the loading dock view....while it was very private, we didn't do much sitting out there since there wasn't much to see. There was one perk though.....every night we had our own private viewing of Wishes! The first night I didn't know what the heck the loud noises were. Scared me a little. Then when it happened the second night I ran out on the balcony and there it was. So, you decide which you want and request it through the IPO when you finally talk to them.

Hi! The person I booked the room with said he requested a MK view (wishes at night) and also noted it's our anniversary trip. He also said I would get an email but that didn't happen. Hrmmm... :rolleyes1 I checked our reservation on line and I can see the special celebration note but have no idea if the view was requested. :confused3 It's a shame that these rooms don't have more spectacular views. Then again...they are honeymoon suites, right? :rotfl2:

I will make sure to mention it to IPO. Thank you for the tip!

Thanks for all the info. It is helpfull in my future plans for a stay at this resot.

I KNOW my Mom and Dad would love to stay at this resort. I think I will plan to suprise them with a stay in the nest 2 years or so. I want to either get 2 cabins or a 2 bedroom villa (leaning to the vills though really).

I just KNOW there are many memories to be made with daughters and grandparents at this resot. My parents are avid campers from Illinois (Mark Twain Country).

I can't wait to get those plans laid out for real.

Mam o man I have many WDW vacations to plan. Gesh--I hope I get the chances to do so. hehehehehehe!:dance3::woohoo::banana:

Just got back from a great birthday trip and stay at WL.

I haven't seen this posted so I wanted to let everyone know that they are now selling Humphrey plushes in the gift shop. They were in the display window and when I asked they had to get me one out of there. She said they sell out as soon as they get them in. I do have the tag if anyone needs the information to try and call and order.

And on a previous post someone asked about hair wraps - they were located by the pool. I didn't see tattoos but they could have both been in the one stand.

We're new to the WL, this will be our first trip in Aug. What's a Humphrey? Any pics?

Hair wraps are made with embroidery floss.

DD and I get one every trip!

The gal takes a small section of hair and wraps the floss around it creating a long decorative piece. You get to pick three colors of floss, beads and charms. They last for weeks! Very cool!

Don't quote me... I think they cost about $2 per inch.

From the first page of this thread. If you go there you will see a photo of Humphrey!!

:goodvibesThe Legend of Humphrey Bear and his MAGICAL NOSE.

Humphrey is located in the Lobby and is the Mascot (an animal, person, or thing adopted by a group as its representative symbol and supposed to bring good luck) of The Wilderness Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge Vet's Legend is that if you rub Humphreys Nose at the start of or during your visit to WDW you will be favored with PIXIE DUST and you will have a MAGICAL STAY.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON HUMPHREY AND WHY HE IS IN OUR HEARTS:

One our most loved VETS was a sweet gentleman named Roy Car aka FloridaCat he loved Humphrey and always posted to rub his noise so the Magic could begin. We vets also make sure to say "Hi" to Roy our dear friend when we all visit by rubbing Humph's nose.

This Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread is dedicated to Roy Carr and his Memory because he was very instrumental in making this and the previous 5 WL FAQ threads the great threads they have all been. He posted weather reports for the WDW area every morning as he lived very near the world. He was our Wild Wacky Wonderful WL Weatherman the title was even bestowed to him by the DIS-Tag Fairy.

"While at the Lodge, Pat Humphrey Bear’s nose so the magic can begin.":goodvibes

REMEMBER - The first page of this thread has tons of information!!

Thank you sooo much for the info on the hair wraps! My daughter and I will be getting on this year for sure! ;) I think I saw them last year at Downtown so that is neat they will be at our resort. Yippie....

MK view is the room I had. That's the one with Wishes at night and working dock and trees during the day. I think the other category is a view of the water, which is a better "view" during the day but no Wishes at night. When you "speak" to IPO tell them which you want: a nice water view or a MK wishes view. By the way, you can't so MK from the room we had, there were too many trees in the way, so I don't even know why they call it a MK view:confused3. You can get a glimpse of the ferry boats going there and back, but that's about it. Either room view, I'm sure you'll love it and have a great time! By the way, if you happen to be on the shorter side ,be careful climbing in and out of the jacuzzi! Even to use it as a shower, you still have to climb over this big ledge. It was interesting every time I had to get in it...almost comical.
