If there's not zero entry is there at least a ledge going around parts of the pool?

I am planning on switching from our usual stay at BCV to VWL. My kids have been spoiled with the beach and sand at stormalong bay. Are they going to miss playing in the sand at the pool at Wilderness lodge? Anyone know if the Hidden springs pool in zero entry? That would surely be much better if they could at least walk in and sit. Any info about the pool experience would be great. My kids will be almost 4 and 6 if that helps.

Hi there,

The pool are the Lodge and the Villas starts at 3-1/2 feet. There is an outer ledge but I don't think there is one that they can sit on within the pool. There is no zero entry to this pool.

Now, if your kids are used to Stormalong Bay, honestly I think they will be disappointed. This is just my opinion now. Don't get me wrong, the pool at the Lodge is very nice, but it is very small and has a smallish slide compared to Stormalong Bay. You also will have only two sides to the pool as where they can play and you can watch. One of the other sides is the slide and the other side is where the hot tubs and walk way is.

The pool is very pleasant but can get crowded depending on the time of year and time of day.

The pool over by the villas will be less crowded but has no slide.

Oh, and there is an area near the lake that is sandy and they can play, but you cannot go into the lake.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone ordered anything from Miss Jenny's for their Wishes Cruise? I was thinking about a fruit and cheese platter or something like that and a bottle of wine or champagne. Any suggestions? Also, I know I have to order at least 48 hrs in advance but is there any reason to do it now or can I just wait until I check in (that will be 72 hrs in advance).

TIA!

Hi there,

We ordered a small cake and a bottle of wine for our cruise. It was very nice. I sure the cheese platter would be great. They will probably get it from the kitchen at Artist Point.

The only thing we didn't like was the glasses they provided. They were the small plastic ones that the bottoms fall off. :) Of course, no glass on the boat. So, the next time we wound up bringing some nice plastic larger wine glasses we had purchased for around the pool. Worked out perfectly!!

The Wishes Cruise was amazing, by the way. The view was great, it was so beautiful, I cried the whole time the fireworks played. A very happy, magical cry. :cloud9:

EmmaLuvsPooh - I have to agree with TheLodgeLady...while WL is our favorite resort we typically split our stay with YC or BC so the kids (3, 4 & 7 this trip) can have Stormalong Bay...the WL pool in no way compares. They have a kiddy pool but it's like 1.5 ft, fun for the 4 yr old but not much fun for the 6. Also, there is no little children's slide at WL like at YC/BC and my guys are scared to go down WL slide because they can't see the bottom from the top.

Have you considered a split stay...that way you are by EPCOT & the studios for a few days and then by the MK for a few days. Hope I've helped!

TheLodgeLady - Thanks for the info!! We always do something big for our last night. Last year it was the Pirate & Princess Party, this year the Wishes Cruise. I haven't told anyone yet; I'm going to try to keep it a surprise as long as possible ;)

We love the campfires at the Poly and YC/BC, as well as the pool activities we actually had time to catch at SAB. What kind of little events do they have at WL?

They have some pool activities, cookie/cupcake decorating at Roaring forks, and there of course is the campfire over at FW. We like to go at Christmas, and there is often something going on in the Lobby in the evenings. In the mornings, they have the flag raising ceremony on the roof....This is hard to get to do, ask as soon as you check in if there are any mornings available during your stay. There is also a guided tour of the lodge available several days per week. My kids loved looking for hidden Mickeys...just ask for the hidden Mickey list at the concierge in the lobby.

Sounds great!! Thank you! We always try to spend at least an afternoon or evening just roaming around the resort, so these will be some fun things to try. Thanks, again!!:thumbsup2

So excited we are returning to the lodge on Sept 12th. Can't wait. We stayed at the Poly the last two times we went and while we love the Poly we always felt like something was missing - we LOVE the WL. This will be our 3 years old 2nd time but her first time at WL I think she will love it especially the boat rides to the MK!!

You're welcome!!!!

Just ask for a list of activities at the concierge, since not everything is every day, and will vary depending on the time of the year. Then you can plan accordingly.

HAVE FUN!!!:wizard:

When we were there last week they were playing movies on the beach....we happened to stumble upon it as we decided to take a walk around the resort. They were showing Wall-e. The girls loved playing in the sand while watching the movies and my DH and I just loved relaxing. I would think that in the Welcome packet that you get at check-in they would have a times guide and a list of the movies showing....I just never looked for it.

Okay, someone in the know...is it true that they are now having movies on the beach at WL?

We were just there March 8-12 and our packet had a recreation activities sheet that includes a "Movie Under the Stars" at 8:00 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's activities.

Here is the description:

Movie Under the Stars
Enjoy Disney movies under the stars by the shores of Bay Lake. Bring your beach towel and enjoy "WALL-E" Rated G.

Friday and Saturday that week were Enchanted and high School Musical 3 Senior Year.

So when you check in and get your packet look on the paper called Recreation Activities to see which movie if there is one.

If I can get one of my boys to help me I will scan and post a copy of the paper I will because I know others have asked about current activities at WL.

Here is the March Recreation Activities guide for Wilderness Lodge:

^^^^ Thanks for posting this. One question, I don't see Chip and Dale Sing Along listed here. Do they still have this?

What I posted is the Wilderness Lodge hotel activities. Some people mix up these 2 so it is easy to do. The Wilderness Lodge is the big hotel and Ft. Wilderness is the campground with tents and cabins.

Chip N' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long is still taking place, but it is at the Ft. Wilderness Campground which is a boat ride away from the Wilderness Lodge. :goodvibes

For the month of March at Fort Wilderness Campground starting with time change:
Chip N' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long
7:30 pm - Fire lighting
8:00-8:30 - Sing-a-Long
8:40 pm - Movie starts

Subscribing. WL is our favorite resort and we are proud DVC members with VWL as our home resort! 46 more days till our 10 day vacation at VWL!!!!
