Also, if you are given a room and would prefer a different one is it ok to ask for another one?

You can definitely ask for a different room. (The CM might not be happy with it, but too bad. ) At POR once I had requested the Mansions, and got put in Alligator Bayou, and so I asked if they could find something in the Mansions, and they did, in the building I had wanted in the first place. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask.

re: Milk in gallons or half gallons...Milk is sold in Half gallons most other places so I would assume it is only half gallons here too. But at least they are easier to fit in the fridge as a 1 gallon jug usually won't fit on the door.

As far as the question regarding shipping food down it might be more cost effective to use a food delivery service such as garden grocer. Also there is less worry about what kind of shape the food will be in after being shipped down:)

Just wanted to respond to the garden grocer suggestion...they were great for our last trip!!!

I've been looking through this thread for a while now, but still cannot find out about the bunk bed rooms. Which areas/rooms with a courtyard view have the bunk beds. Wondering so I can put in a request. Thank you!!

Wood and Courtyard View Rooms that have Bunk Beds (billable view, to guarantee the bunk beds only). These rooms are spread out through the Lodge they are not located in specific areas nor lumped all together. If you are paying for the Bunk Beds you will receive them, they are no longer a request.

You may request your room location in any of the areas that have a Coutyard View, North Wing, South Wing, Inner Courtyard, Off the Lobby or overlooking the Villas.

Remember location is only a request and not guaranteed.

Good Luck

I have and it just confuses me. I wanted to hear from someone that has stayed in a standard room, what room to request.

I think the confusing part is that there are 2 things to consider when booking a room here. Your view and type of room. There are 'standards' to both. We were there last week. I booked a standard room with a king bed with the courtyard view. We got #4075 which was one of the 'bear face' rooms and if you don't know what that means just believe me, it's one of the best. I only paid extra because I requested the courtyard view as compared to a standard view (parking lot, etc). Most of the rooms are standard but the views are what change the price. Hope this helps.

This is slightly OT for this thread but I figured all y'all WL vets would be the best to answer this question.

DH and I are booked for a Resort Photo Session at WL on Dec. 10. We decided on wearing royal blue polo shirts and jeans for our photos - DH in an actual polo and me wearing a royal blue polo babydoll that is TOO CUTE!

The shirt that I wanted was not available in royal blue so we changed to sky blue. The shirt was supposed to ship last Friday but is now on backorder so won't be available before we leave.

Our options are:
1) We can wear two different styles of shirt in royal blue (but I'm afraid that won't look good in the picture.)
or
2) We can wear a different color altogether.

We can do another color but we are kind of limited on that due to my hair and DH's complexion. For example:
I look great in Red but DH is ruddy-complected so it won't work for him.
Green is out because the landscape at the Lodge is so green. Ditto for brown.
We both look scary in white.
I thought about maroon because that works for both of us for some reason but the CM who took our ressie thought that might be too dark.
I like lavendar but DH is completely opposed.
Yellow makes me look sallow and DH doesn't really care for it.

Do y'all have any suggestions on colors that might look good with the surroundings at the Lodge. Most of the photo locations are outdoors.

Would navy shirts with dark jeans look weird? Is navy too dark for the WL?

TIA in advance for any help. These are anniversary photos for us so I would really like them to look nice.

I just booked 2 standard view rooms at WL today with the with the new discount. We were originally booked in one room at CR which I booked 6 months ago and have been focused on that. I've never stayed at WL or planned to stay at CR, and in fact, I don't think I've even set foot inside WL since we had a Sunday Brunch there in 2000! I'm needing a crash course on WL!

I haven't read very far through this thread yet but one thing I'm wondering is about this closed/open balcony situation. My 3 yr old is a climber so if anyone can point me to a photo of the open balcony, I'd appreciate it, it just sounds like "closed" would be safer!

I'm looking forward to learning all about WL, thanks to all of you for sharing!

I don't know if you're still wondering about the balcony but the difference is that the open looks like regular railing with about a 2in.spacer. The closed ones have a solid rail where you have to stand to look at anything in the courtyard.

Thanks. I have reserved a Courtyard view Bunkbed room. Does anyone have a preference for which courtyard view I should request?

I was told to make sure you say 'inside' courtyard view. Otherwise, some courtyard view rooms look over the villas but are still considered courtyard view rooms.

The following information is from my post on the first page, there is additional information located there.

COURTYARD VIEWS:
Courtyard view rooms can be located off the lobby, down the south and north corridors they face the falls/pool. Some Courtyard View rooms may also face south, overlooking the Villas. These rooms are located on all floors.

All Courtyard Views aren't the same, to receive the view most guest want when paying for a Courtyard View you need to add Inner Courtyard View to your reservation. If you want the view of Silver Creek Springs Pool, Silver Creek, the waterfall, the geyser and Bay Lake, be sure to add this to your request.

Inner Courtyard Views: (Northside)
Many guests enjoy the Inner North Wing for a great view of the Bay Lake or the Electrical Water Pageant if room is located on one of the higher floors. They are further away from the pool so they would be a little quieter with less pool noise.

Inner Courtyard Views: (Southside)
The rooms in the South Wing are closer to the Silver Creek Pool so I feel the views of the pool are better from the South Wing. The higher floors on the Inner South Wings also have obstructed and very limited views of the higher fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. The Courtyard View rooms toward the end of the wing would be the best location to see them.

Courtyard View Overlooking the Villas:
There are Courtyard View rooms located in the south wing that face south and have a view of the Villas and the smaller Hidden Springs Pool. The rooms also have a view of the forest between the Lodge and Ft. Wilderness Campground. I have enjoyed watching the local wildlife visit the edges of the woods during my visits. These rooms are some of the quietest rooms so would be great for light sleepers.

Inner Courtyard Views off Lobby:
Last but not lest are the Courtyard View rooms that are off the main Lobby, they are centered in the middle of the inner courtyard and they overlook the entire courtyard area from the balcony with the beautiful Lobby just outside the front door. Can you tell I love and request these rooms when I book Courtyard View? They are located on the 4th, & 5th floor.

Okay, I have re-read the first page and am sure I am missing this information. Can someone tell me where to fax a room request and is there a certain time frame before your visit that you should send your request.

The WL no longer accepts faxed room requests. They were receiving too many. Make sure your room request is added to your reservation. The CM's at WL do their best to honor those requests.

The Wilderness lodge doesn't accept Fax request, they only accept request that are noted on your reservation.

So is it too late to put in a request? When I did my reservation I wanted to put something down but it wouldn't let me. What should I do now-call?

Yes ::yes:: call CRO even if you booked on-line they can add your request to the reservations.

Just thought I would let you know.....I had previously booked a reservation at WL for 12/6 through 12/11 standard club level for four people. I am in the process of cancelling the reservation, so if anyone is looking for a room (I know the resort is sold out for this time period) call now. The room rate is 385.00 per night.

Good Luck

Thanks! I see you seem to know your stuff w/ WL. We usually stay at the Poly but thought we'd like to try WL. We have booked a standard view-now I am concerned we are going to get some terrible view of driveways & the roof!!!! I read somewhere to ask for a quiet room - someone also mentioned we may be lucky to get a free upgrade. Any suggestions???? Thanks!:goodvibes

i have booked 2 connecting rooms, woods view. does anyone know which room numbers have connecting rooms, or are they too numerous to list?

With a Standard View Room the locations are overlooking rooftops or overlooking the service area. :confused3

Of the two areas that the Standard Views are located I would request 5th floor North Wing because of the possible view of the Magic Kingdom and fireworks at night, if the inclosed balconies don't bother you the 6th floor would be futher away from any noise that might come from the service area.

I have stayed in this area many times and unless I am out on the balcony during the day, I have never heard any noise.

Upgrades are always a possibility but I never expect them.
