Hi everyone, stood at Wilderness Lodge 2 times and it is my favorite resort, feels the most Disney to me. We are hoping to be blessed enough to stay there this christmas, that being said, do they do anything special at the resort Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I heard they have carolers come in and sing during the season and it is quite beautiful there... Just wondering if you could tell me what you experienced on Christmas day there.... Thankyou for your help in advance.

I was there on Christmas Day of last year and other than the carolers (I think they were on Christmas Eve), Santa (before Christmas) and a special Christmas Day meal at WCC, I don't recall anything else. We went horseback riding at FTW and it was a lovely day in the 70's. I hope you get to go!

I am 47 days out and booked at BCV for our first DVC stay. I am trying to get DH to agree to adding on 3 nights at WL with the current summer discount. I hope that he will go for it and we can do the split stay! I went in February and have been dreaming of the WL ever since.

Already planning my summer 2012 vacation and hoping that I will be able to get the VWL. Our home resort is AKV which I also love but need more time at WL!!!

Right now we are booked to stay over Christmas there. I too have been wondering about the festivities.

i think I read somewhere there is cookie decorating for the kids(?)

I don't know if they decorate cookies but it sounds like something the Wilderness Lodge would do.... My kids are 17 and 22 and they are very excited to stay there for Christmas. Hopefully someone who has been will list some of the festive things they offer there...

You're welcome. Yes, you absolutely need an ADR on Christmas. Christmas Day fills up everywhere very quickly. Make the ADR as soon as you can.

The food on Christmas at the WCC wasn't the normal BBQ-type foods they usually serve so I was somewhat disappointed. It was a turkey dinner with all the trimmings and a chocolate log roll cake for dessert which was very large and filling. Many of the WDW restaurants serve a similar meal on Christmas. It wasn't bad, I just prefer what they usually serve, especially since we had eaten the night before at LTT in the MK and the meal was very similar. I made up for it though by eating there again on our last night so that I could have all that great brisket and BBQ

well....we were supposed to be at POFQ starting Sat 21st ....yesterday we found out my husband has to stay a few more days at work ....So all the planning I did was out the window and I started at square one this morning....when i called to change the dates i was told NO VACANCY!!!! Well not at the POFQ or any Mod. resorts soooooo after a breakdown I booked Wilderness Lodge and am VERY EXCITED!!!! It was a pretty penny more but this is our first trip and I think we will be very pleased. I had researched POFQ and printed layouts and pics of pool for DD to see and had all my ADRs reserved and now i am scrambling but it is like my excitement is double fold It looks like this place has soooooo much more to offer and I only have a few days to plan our week. Looks like a beach? Looks like movies at night? Looks great Any advice on what not to miss?

I can sense you're a little stressed, but I think this is a great change and you'll love the WL. Now you'll be able to boat to the MK and FTW and the CR. From the CR you can take the monorail to the TTC to Epcot or stop by the Poly and GF for a bite to eat. FTW is just a walk away and I highly recommend you take a stroll over there and see the horses or maybe do an activity or go to Hoop-De-Doo for dinner. We love renting bikes at WL and biking over. Also, you should try and do the free Lodge tour.

Do you have an ADR for WCC or Artist's Point? If you've never eaten at Whispering Canyon, I highly recommend it. It's a lot of fun and the food is plentiful and good.

What room category have you booked? I know it's last minute, but I think you'll have a great time. I think it's the perfect resort for a first visit. It has a great "WOW" factor that you'll never forget

Thankyou for your reply, I have eaten at WCC many times and loved the BBQ skillet so I too would of been disappointed... Maybe we will bite the bullet and eat at Artist point or Konas on Christmas.. So excited to go.

Wherever you do decide to eat, just make sure you have an ADR and remember that many of the table service restaurants serve a similar turkey-type dinner. I would recommend the Hoop-De-Doo for Christmas if you're staying at the Lodge and want BBQ-type foods. I think that would be lots of fun and the food is great, but you will have to pay a holiday premium and can't use any discounts such as TIW.
