This is it. I requested it as it is a good quiet location, and I could see the fireworks and bits of the monorail. We only saw some big white bird in it, someone earlier saw an alligator. Not sure what else you might spy in there. Have a great trip! :)

Every night we saw this at 10 from our balcony:

Pretty awesome view!:thumbsup2

Yea! Just noticed I'm under the four month mark now. Time for the happy dance!:dance3::dance3::dance3:
:dancer:party::dancer:

Wow great view :cool1:

Thanks so much for the info.

I know my trip is ages away but I am certainly going to request floors 3 - 5, Otter Pond when the time comes :goodvibes

You probably have a better shot of seeing on floors 4-6. 6 has the enclosed balconies which we did not want. Our shot from 3 was good due to the exact location with a break in some trees! You may want to request 4-5 as we did. We got all request but were 3rd floor. For our location though, it was perfect! I put Otter pond, 4-5 floor, quiet area. Got room 3020.

I know you can get a pack-n-play in a standard room, but could you get a full size crib or a rollaway bed/cot? And if so, how much would it cost? :confused3 Thanks!:thumbsup2

Looking forward to meeting everyone later today. The only bummer is this is our last day. It's been a blast. The weather has held up, other than being crazy hot. I've also learned that no matter what the crowd projections DHS is to be avoided when it's a Fantasmic day that evening. Lastly I've learned I'm not very good posting on the DIS from a Palm Pre.:rotfl2:

Thanks so much, I didn't know if it was too specific to ask for two floors (4-5) as I was really hoping for an open balcony but it looks like it is OK to request although of course no guarantees
I am going to request North Wing floors 4-5, Otter Pond and see what we get
Thanks so very much for the great info :-)

Hi- I asked this question, earlier, but didn't get a response (lots of people getting ready for trips, so I think my post got lost in the shuffle a bit) so if it's ok I'll try again.

We're taking a girls only trip next Dec. with my autistic DD and my mildly mobility impaired DM. We're splitting a stay w/ the first part at AKL, and had planned on the Poly after that, but I was thinking WL might be better because it's all indoors, and the transportation is still pretty good? My big question is in regards to the boat to the MK. Is it pretty consistent timing wise? How long do you need to allow to get back or forth; and if it's raining, how are the busses to MK? We will have a car for everywhere else, but MK is pretty complicated w/ the car, and if it's possible to feasibly use the boat, I think it might be better.

The boat does come along on a regular basis, but it is not the quickest way there ( I love it its a very relaxing ride) and the bus ride is very quick.
DW is in a wheelchair we have stayed at both WL and Poly and have never had a problem at either (we are staying at WL again Nov 25 - Dec 2) I think if it was a walking mobility problem WL would be our first choice easy.

Thanks! I really appreciate your response. DM uses an ECV often, but is really working on upping her stamina (she has a history of MI and CA and has neuropathy in her legs since complications from her chemo). Christmas will probably be a two edged sword for DD at WL, on the one hand, potentially massively loud and chaotic, but on the other hand, she wears earphones and really, really loves white christmas lights; so I think we might be ok. I was planning to ask for a room facing the otter pond as I hear there are sometimes partial views of fireworks and less noise. Do you think that location is probably good or is there somewhere better for quiet?

I'm baaaack!

First let me apologize to my DIS pals for missing the DIS Meet on Saturday. Our only MK day (Tuesday) completely unraveled, so we had to reschedule to do a full day in MK Saturday. BUT... I made Mike get his Dole Whip in Adventureland at exactly 2pm so it would "feel" like we were there. :lovestruc For those of my friends that haven't left yet... if you need to kill some time while you wait for your trip, and you're missing the Lodge... my Trip Report is up and running and contains pictures galore. :goodvibes -Stace

It would have been neat to meet you, but it is understandable with your change of plans. It was nice to meet Brunette8706 and her DH, and Deb o s (sorry Deb, can't get my keyboard to type your screen name correctly) and her DS. We talked about WDW, the history of the DIS, and a whole lot of conversation about threads and topics that get heated real quick, none of which I'll mention because it would only....... well um........ get heated in here real quick. :rotfl2:

Well, I've been home a whopping 2 hours and I'm already on the DIS and about to check out your trip report CamsmomE. :thumbsup2

Our son has anxiety disorder and tourettes. I was amazed at how quiet the WL is and it was at capacity, he was very happy at the resort. Very quiet on the Otter pond side. We rarely waited more than 10 minutes for a boat or bus in either direction, and to any location. Also...on your first park day, visit guest services and ask for a guest access card.

If you want a very quite area the rooms facing the otter pond are probably the best. I would ask for a room on the 4th or 5th floor as far down the hall as possible. These rooms are very quite. The only draw back is they are far from the main lobby and bus stop.

I would however take the bus to and from MK. Some of the boats are the motor launch type boats that you can't bring and ECV on.

Hey all! I just switched from the Poly to the Wilderness Lodge for my March 2011 trip. The price difference was INSANE! I saved over $1100 on the package.

cant wait to stay at the Lodge!

We're thinking about doing the same thing, for the same reason, and also because the Wilderness Lodge looks like it would be so lovely in December, when we're planning to go. I have a few questions I hope you can answer ...

For anyone who has been in early December (well before Christmas) how long does that Magic Kingdom ferry usually take? The big draw of the Polynesian is, of course, the monorail, and the idea that, with a younger one, we would be able to hop back and forth from the Magic Kingdom in just a few minutes.

Do any of the deluxe rooms have "secret" Magic Kingdom/fireworks views?

Can you see the fireworks from anywhere in the resort/beach easily, like at the Polynesian? And, if so, do they pipe in the music?

Are there any club-level bunk bed rooms? (My son would LOVE a bunk bed, my husband, who is usually very cheap, is being weird about wanting club level.)

And anyone who has stayed club level recently at Wilderness want to give me some low down? Like, are drinks readily available most of the day? Can you sit in the lounge area even when there is no food service? Would you do club level again? Do they have DVD players in the rooms and movies available for free lending like the Polynesian? Beyond the food are there benefits I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for any answers you can provide!

***

Hey All!

I just logged on I'm currently at the Yacht Club after after LEAVING the WILDERNESS LODGE out of DISAPPOINT!

Yes, some of Disney is in decline, but some there are improving.

Here is a quick trip report so far:

WILDERNESS LODGE

Pro's
Gorgeous Resort
Gorgeous Landscaping
Gorgeous Architecture
Beautiful Interior
Nice Pool
Great Theme
Great Location
Exterior upkeep (does have scaffolding though)
Very authentic
Very serene
Artist Point looked very nice (did not eat there)

CONs

Rooms/accomodations are horrendous
- vanity bulbs out
- chest drawers kept coming open
-head board chipping
-bedding dirty
-bed skirt (faded, worn, and frankly gross!!)
-Room had a very TIRED LOOK TO IT.
-Room needs to be updated BAD.
-Mousekeeping is less then PAR
- Room was finally made at 4 p.m.
-Ketchup on small table on deck
-paper wrappings on floor near bed
-Flat Screen TV -- Remote did not work
-Roaring Forks --Tight on food offerings
-Roaring Forks- Very Expensive on Sandwiches/Salads $9-$10 for an "okay" entree

Now, please don't flame, me. I'm just giving you an honest opinion on my first experience at the WL. We will not return. This was our first night. On the second day, I asked my husband if he wanted to move to another hotel. He said yes. So with that we stayed at the Yacht Club. We did this not knowing what to expect! All I can say is:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is spectacular, gorgeous, awesome and just GREAT! We will be returning here no questions asked! LOL!

PROs

-Beautiful Surroundings
-Beautiful stunning lobby with a Yacht theme (ships, nautical)
-POOL- OH MAN! WOW FACTOR-
-POOL - They also check your key before entering pool
-Sandy bottom pool, slides, very large, gorgeous and relaxing!
-Accomodations- STUNNING, GORGEOUS, Large balcony (12 feet x 5 feet) just guessing on that though.
-Bedding - white, crisp, clean, beautiful. Blue Bed Skirt, very upsale
-White french doors leading to large balcony as stated above
-Lobby, very nautical, ships, stunning
- Interior - very clean, new paint, carpet upscale

CONs

- Bartender at bar closest to lobby VERY RUDE
-Marketplace - where you get fast food about a 10 minute walk. It's located at the Beach Club
-CM at Market place wasn't very friendly.

We're having a GREAT TIME! We're checking out on the 14th. Just finished viewing EPCOT fireworks from balcony. I can't say enough good things about this place.

If anyone has any questions/comments/suggestions let me know. I'm still at the world so I'll be happy to answer them.

Thanks ALL!
Brunette
