Is there a specific time someone would recommend to be on the return boat to WL in time to see Wishes from the water?

From Mousesteps (a great photo essay blog on walking WDW): It is a 20 min walk from Pioneer Hall to the Wilderness Lodge. The path is not lit at night, but is safe and used by joggers.[/URL]

Thanks, the link was a great help as I'm planning my first trip as a new member of DVC.

I would get in line just before it starts. Unfortunately, the ride is usually shorter than the fireworks.

Brian <-- ONLY 10 DAYS LEFT!!!!!! :rainbow:

We're planning on taking the trail early one evening. Have a tradition since our days of staying at Ft. Wilderness of going to Trail's End and getting a to-go pizza and eating it down by the dock. :thumbsup2

Can't wait!

Brian

Just upgraded our February weekend trip to the Wilderness Lodge i'm so excited! Just me and my brother for his 18th birthday. I'm in talks with Brian over at the Contemporary for a custom cake to be delivered to the room, has anyone ever done this?

Okay, we've stayed at Wildneress lodge way back in 2002--loved it. We've since done Swan and Portofino at Universal (2X). My kids are now teens so we do a lot of the thrill type rides.

I love the looks of Animal Kingdom lodge, but something tells me maybe we should try Wilderness again. And the transportation issues at AK scare me.

If we do Wilderness again, should we get the club level? Does that make a diff in room size and view?:confused3

I called Disney World today w/ questions and the girl suggested Beach club--to make my decision that much harder--because of the centralness, but the rooms look like something out of my grandmother's house.::lmao:

Any thoughts??

CL rooms at WL are identical to non CL rooms, unless you book a deluxe room which is super $$$. IF BC decor isn't your thing (it isn't ours) I suggest the Yacht Club, shares pool and amenities with BC but the decor is more classic, understated elegance. We love YC, it's our favorite EPCOT resort. I booked BC for our last trip but DH had me switch over to WL since the Christmas decorations were already up. Rooms at BC/YC are significantly larger than WL ones too

We loved the WL Club Level when we stayed in August, so much that when we decided yesterday to go back in February-I wouldn't book until I could get the WL CL again. My DH tried to get me to stay at the AK but there was no way that I wanted to be over on the other side of DW-we had enough of that bus ride when we stayed at the All Stars.

We booked the room only discount package and the difference between CL or not was about $100. Well worth it to me because we all loved the breakfast foods better than any TS restaurant that we've been to-and we've been to them all. We like to stop in and out of the hotel too and will have dessert when we get back to the room so I figure we are not really spending much more than we would have if we spent it eating out.

Rooms are the same. We asked for a MK view last time and got it-we were able to watch the fireworks every night from our balcony.

We are going at a similar time frame to you. We booked standard view. I assume that the $100 difference is between discounted CL vs. non-discounted courtyard view? Is that correct? I'd love to stay CL, but a discounted std room is stretching our budget this year, unfortunately.

Keep an eye out, back in the fall they discounted CL rooms 40%. It cost me around $35 more per night than our usual courtyard view room and the WL CL actually came in less than the BC GV.

No-they were both discounted rooms-I think that was the difference ($100). I looked at standard club level and just the courtyard view. I figured that we would really make up the difference with one character breakfast per day-that's about $100 with the tip for 4 people so it's like prepaying a meal, plus the food is a hundred times better. We're going to eat breakfast in the lounge and then eat a TS "linner" between 3-4 and then come back for cookies/dessert in the evening-give and take a popcorn or ice cream bar here and there. We're used to only eating one big meal a day so this is perfect for us.

I see. Rack value is $240 for std. room. At 40% off, the std CL would be $246. Something to look for when we can afford that. Thanks.
For now I'm calculating the $750 gift card offer to be giving us essentially 60% off the room portion of a 5 nt stay.

No-they were both discounted rooms-I think that was the difference ($100). I looked at standard club level and just the courtyard view.
Thanks for the clarification.

We stayed at BC last year and I missed the Lodge the whole time. The room seemed only a little bigger to me, quite honestly. The best thing about BC was the pool & maybe being able to walk right to Epcot. The rooms are updated and we liked them, but again, I just missed The Lodge the entire time we were there.

Loopner,

We're almost there!!! :-)

Just 9 more days!!!

Brian :banana::banana::banana:
Brian, I'm freaking out! I couldn't be more excited. I just checked weather.com and it *does* warm up, but we might see rain on Saturday 1/16. You know what? I don't even care. LOL. Bring on the ponchos (which I can't find, so I added them to my Walmart list. :rotfl2:). It's all good! I just won't think anything "non Disney" for the next 2 weeks! :woohoo:

I've been looking on accuweather.com because it gives a 15 day outlook. haha! I hit Walmart last night and did my list. Could not find the Ponchos. :-/ Hope you have better luck. I'd say lets race down 95, but I'm sure you'll get a head start. :rotfl2:

So you're driving, too? Safe travels! Vroooooooooooooom!

Hope you found the ponchos, though the forecast does not look like we'll be needing them. :yay:

8 Days!!!!!

Just wanted one last chance to see my ticker before we go. We'll be arriving for our first stay at WL tomorrow.

National Weather Service is predicting a 20% chance of snow/sleet for Orlando tomorrow!?!?! Guess I'll just have to warm up in the Epcot WS. I'm sure that Germany has some beverages that will do the trick.
