The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Ahh..yeah that was what it was, we were going to Contemporary to go ski doo back in 2006 and it looped over to FTW on the way back! Thanks! Forgot about that part! I do recall going from WL last year to Poly but can't remember why.

I think your memory may be better than you think. The curren boat routes are "new."

When we were at FtW in 2007, the MK boat went from:
AM: FtW then WL then MK then back to FtW
PM: MK then WL then FtW then back to MK

Now, I understand WL and FtW have separate boats to MK.

goof y 4 prez...If you don't mind me asking, how many nites are you staying for that $200 extra?? I was contemplating changing 1/2 of my 10 nite stay at WL to club level and you gave me even more inspiration to call today!

Thanks. Now I have another question is it worth the money to upgrade to a woods view room?

That is just such a hard question to answer.

How much time are you going to be spending on your balcony? If you are just in and out going to the parks and using the pool, then the view won't really matter.

Our first year in 2006 we booked standard. We were smacked with pixie dust and given a room with an inner courtyard and bunk beds. My DH was so spoiled by the view that we saved up extra so we could book a courtyard view in 2008. Imagine our surprise when we were given THE SAME ROOM again. This year we have booked the courtyard with bunk beds room. The boys are a bit too big to share a bed without lots of fussing.

The woods view has lots of great features too. You can sometimes see the monorail going through the trees. If you are up high enough you can see some of the fireworks. You are up high enough that if you are over the service area, it isn't as noticeable.

It is going to be up to each person to decide which view they are willing to pay the money to enjoy.

I think they are all great because you are at the Lodge! :cloud9:

Wow - you just made my day! We have 2 Courtyard View Bunk Bed rooms booked for Sept 25 - Oct 2. Hoping my 3 boys will love it!

Do you recommend the North or South wing?

Honestly, I think South Wing has the better view. But I'm lazy. I like the North Wing because it is closer to Roaring Forks. :rotfl2:

We are there for 7 nights. The reason why it is only $200 more is because we received a better discount than what we were booked for. It would have lowered our cost about $300 for the same accommodations, but we decided to upgrade and pay this difference instead.

We didn't get the free dining (can't fit the schedule) and were booked with the 25% off the room rate. I went on the WDW website and logged in. I played around with some vacation packages several times just to compare what my TA set me up with and a couple days later WDW sent me an email with an enticement to receive 40% off instead. I called and the rest is history.:thumbsup2

Absolutely keep on trying! It took me 4 tries over the span of a few weeks, but I got a CL room with my 40% pin!!

A really nice lady told me to keep on trying and chances were, rooms would open up as I got closer to my 45-day mark when someone cancelled their reservation. Little did she know I'm just not that patient but I appreciated her advice. GL to you!!

Hi! I'm new to all this and still learning everything. What is a bounceback and how do you get pin information?

Through Dream Unlimited I have a quote for CSR w/free dining plan that I am seriously considering. I just emailed back to see what bumping up to WL would be for the same plan.

Is it better to get a room rate w/discount, no dining plan? I understand you can get good discounts on the room this way, but wouldn't paying for food eat up that savings??

I am still trying to figure out discounts, rates, dining plans, etc. We would be staying 9 days/8 nights with a 4 year old and 9 month baby. I LOVE the way this resort looks from pictures. Being our first stay, I want it to be special. We are going Nov 27-Dec. 5th. I am trying to figure out how to go about getting the best deal!

Would love some suggestions!

Laura

Hi All! My husband and I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge August 7 - 14. We have reserved "woods view". I believe this is a notch above standard. What will this view over look? I know it will probably over look the woods, but does it overlook the monorail or castle? Also, what is the very best view you can get at the lodge? We are willing to pay for an upgrade.

Thanks so much! Brunette

You won't see the castle. Too many trees. Hence the name "woods" view. ;)

You can possibly see the monorail through those trees though. And you may be able to see the higher fireworks from MK.

I like the view that includes the geyser. Watching erupt for the first time in the morning while drinking my coffee is one of the things I am looking forward to seeing. That would be considered inner courtyard. It is not a guaranteed view. I paid for courtyard but I could also get the view of the Villas on the back side of the South wing. So am hoping for the Pixie Dust to get the view I like best.

Hi! Aren't you going down the same time we are? LOL! You're name looks familiar via my thread, "Who's going in August". Well thanks for the comments. Having coffee outside on the balcony overlooking the geyser sounds really nice.

 Yes! I will be there when you are. We are planning on a resort break on the 10th with an early lunch at WCC. Family of four - Me, DH, DS12, DS8. We will be the family that is NOT color coordinated because my 12 year old rebelled. :rotfl2:

Listen to THIS cool thought! AlexWyattMommy will be there through ALL of my vacation (I check out and you check in on the 7th) and ALL of your vacation. So she will get no rest from someone trying to find her! ;)

hehehe! Now are you staying at the Concierge Level, or one of the many various views that they have. I would love to get that court yard view. Or maybe pay for an upgrade to the CL. I never stayed CL but it really sounds nice.

We booked woodsview. Our DD1 is ridiculously phobic of elevators, so I don't see any 7th floor CL stays for us in the near future. Ground floor request was begged for... :thumbsup2

No CL for us either. Our touring style doesn't let us enjoy the offerings and the rooms aren't any bigger, so it just doesn't work for us.

I will try to find a recent photo of me to post so you can find me easier. :teeth:
I really don't mind. :thumbsup2

ETA: I fixed my avatar. I look mostly like still except now I have bangs. Couldn't stand the hair falling in my eyes. I will leave this for a short time and then go back to being anonymous.

Oh honey, let me tell you!!! I am just PLEADING to be found by fellow DISers! :lmao: I mean every single thing I own, carry, wear, married, or gave birth to has been tagged with a Lime Green Mickey Head (with camsmomE on them) and honestly, when I tell you my daughter is the real life Stitch, I am so totally not kidding- we are hard to miss! :rotfl2: I may have asked you this already, but will you be at the DIS meet on the 7th?

I have an 11am ADR at 50's Prime Time. Where is the meet at? I thought I read one being at the Poly. I won't be able to make that one.

yep- you'd miss it. :sad2: 2pm at the Poly for Dole Whips. Thursday the 5th is our day to hang around the resort- will you be around?

We are doing Quest that day. It doesn't open until 11:30. We will be swimming in the morning. :thumbsup2
