Hi Fellow WL lovers!! Can't wait until Sept!!

Also, I stayed at WL last year and I know there is a smaller hidden pool over near the Villas, I think. Is that right? How do you get there from the main lodge area? I never saw it last year.

Exit the main lobby near the Merchantile onto the covered walkway heading to the bus stop. When you come to the intersection where you turn right to go to the busses, take a left instead. You will go down some stairs onto a sidewalk that will take you between the WL and the Villas and to the pool located behind the villas. There is another hot tub back there also.

Of all the trips we've taken to Disney we've never gone at Christmas, until this year!! From the pictures I've seen, The Wilderness Lodge seems to have the most holiday appeal. The tree in the lobby looks awesome. I can't wait. We've never been at Christmas. We've never stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. Thanks to everyone for this thread. I'm learning a ton. But, feeling just like a kid, it will take FOREVER for Christmas to get here!!!!

If you are visiting during the Christmas season you will most definately get into the holiday spirit there. If you haven't already found it check out this thread.

How is the food at roaring forks?

I really enjoy the food at Roaring Forks. Their salads and most of the sandwiches are made right in front of you. The portions are HUGE, you can definately share a meal. I fell in love with the magic cookie bars, which has chocolate chips, coconut, and a bunch of other stuff. The place is small, but the food is great.

Last time we were there it served it's purpose. I found the food good not a ton of choices. But it seems like they had a speical or 2 on the chalkboard everyday and I believe there were soup there. We are staying at WL and doing the QSDP. So I'm sure we will be eating at RF quite a bit I'm not worried.

I have been reading very bad reviews for Whispering Canyon Cafe. Does anyone like it? We are planning on lunch when we are there in Dec. Would dinner be any better?

We thought the food was fine. But the time it took to get the grilled food was ridiculous! The CM's were very nice, but it took forever to get food.

Also there aren't a lot of tables so we would ask for our food to-go and take it back to the room. Carrying all the food on trays was exhausting. I learned that you can ask for paper sacks with handles and then put the food in that. It was so much easier!

ok, quick topic change...

We want to hit EMH at MK on 8/3 (8AM). I REALLY want to be able to take the boat. The boat only runs 1/2 hour before the park opens, so it won't get me there in time to see rope drop ceremony.

I heard there was a "early breakfast boat" to contemporary. Could I take that boat and then walk to MK to get there earlier??

That's an easy walk. Like 5-8 min from the boat dock, all flat.

We agree. I think the cold selections taste better, too. The sandwiches and pasta salad were great. Also, you can heat or toast things in the dining area. The quality from the grill was just ok. Perhaps the pasta was good. We didn't try it. We found the choices and quality to be much better at Contempo Cafe in the CR atrium. It's a quick boat ride.

I disagree with those reviews. We had a meatloaf and a trout entree at dinner. We were hot, exhausted, and cranky. The staff could not have been nicer, and the kids were well distracted AND ate the food. While I wouldn't call the food excellent by any stretch, I was surprised at the quality after all the bad reviews.

DizneyNutz-your pictures are so wonderful! I know some are missing, but I do like going through that thread when I am homesick for the lodge! Thank you for posting that link!

I personally like the food at WCC. We had a great breakfast and dinner there in May! Like other posters have said, don't miss out on the smores cheesecake! yum!

And let's keep this here, but the Artist's Point is da bomb! It is the place to eat for dinner! (wanna be able to keep getting ADRs! )

DH and I can not wait to go back after T-giving! And return to their CL, for first class service from their CMs and their top offerings from chef Matt!

I need a night cap tonight! LOL

The food at dinner wasn't the greatest meal I've ever had. We're going to give it another try (or 2) in Dec, once for breakfast, probably the skillet and for sinner, off the ala carte menu. Hopefully the servers are a little more interactive this time.

We are going in Dec for my birthday. It will be our first time staying at the lodge. It has always been a dream of mine to stay here. I guess dreams really do come true at Disney. Thanks hubs, I love you.

When I made ADR's, I could have sworn that WCC did not have breakfast. Is this new?

Nope, not new. Breakfast was an option in 2006 and 2008 when we've been there.

Artist Point does not have breakfast. Is that what you were thinking of maybe?

I had a chicken penne pasta dish there a week ago Saturday and it was very Yummy. Our server was awesome and the rest of our party all liked their meals as well.
