Just got back, folks!

:love::love:We loved our stay at WL CL.:love::love:

Starting with what's most important - FOOD!
The food offerings were great in the club. :thumbsup2
More than enough for breakfast every morning. Although as we all know, WDW has the worst coffee. Really how hard is it to get decent coffee. I swear it was decaf. :confused3
Afternoons nice snacking - goldfish, pretzels and gummy bears. Sodas.
Evening offerings were great. Several nights we had beef or chicken kebabs. One night there was a great salmon chowder. Every night, veggies & dip, cheese & crackers and bread & spreads. The wines were good. I drank a lot of merlot. And beer was available. So nice to be able to just grab a beer and head back to the room. Some nights it was more than enough for dinner after a big lunch. (Don't kill me.):scared1:
Desserts - A cobbler or upside down cake, cookies, magic bars. Liquors and wine. And milk for the kiddos. pirate:princess:

The room was great. The kids loved the bunk beds and having them in separate beds was a nice change. No cover stealing. No kicking or poking. Mousekeeping was great. Towel animals every day. Stuffed animals arranged. We left little notes for our keeper and she always wrote back. I think big tips helped here. Our neighbor never left a tip and never got towel animals. Sorry but I think that's how it works. :rolleyes1The shower left much to desire in regards to water pressure and temperature consistency. Didn't care for the closed balcony on the 7th floor. We did like the inside courtyard view.

The restaurants at WL are what they are. We never ate at Roaring Forks, we really liked Artist Point for Christmas Eve dinner, and we don't need to eat at Whispering Canyon again. (Although it is cute to see how my kids yell out "KETCHUP" whenever they need it. :rotfl:The food was fine. The atmosphere is not our style. For the money, we don't need to go back.) Had some seriously good food at AP. Order the truffle fries. :yay:They were amazing.

For three days we were at MK, so the boat was great. Only long wait for a boat was coming back from the Contemporary to WL on 12/25. Loved the lake. The buses were good to DHS, AK and EPCOT. Never had much of a wait and only had to stand once. Didn't take Magical Express from MCO but I would consider it next time. The line moved quickly and the free part is great.

What we loved the most about WL was coming home every night.:thumbsup2 The walk up the pier is so romantic. Going past the "geyser" by the pool up to the waterfall was a special part of the day. Especially since we'd just been at the Magic Kingdom. And the lobby and the Christmas tree. Goosebumps! :wizard:

I hope everyone with an upcoming trip is getting excited. Me? Jealous? Never. Just hoping to go back sometime soon! (Although we did like the looks of the Grand Floridian.....)

Happy Holidays all you wonderful people. May all of your Wilderness dreams come true.

Are there photopass photographers at the resort? I would like to get a couple of family pictures. thanks

Also, will there be movie nights/sing alongs/fire when we are there, anyone know by chance feb 6-11 thanks

We arrived about 9pm on Friday night 12/18. WL is simply stunning at Christmas. It seems to be made for the tall Christmas tree, all the garland, etc. There were several small Christmas trees around the lobby area as well as one on the 7th floor. Mickey and Minnie were in the lobby several evening. We had pictures with Pluto and Goofy on our last night, 12/22. Mousekeeping was fantastic. Our turn down service was done nightly. One night we had only been gone for about 45 minutes and when we returned, our room was turned down. We had plenty of towels and extra shampoo, shower gels, etc. We had great towel animals and holiday towels done into candy canes, Rudolph, and Christmas Candles- without having left any tips. We were in room 7042 which faced the Magic Kingdom. We had a great view of the castle and could see most of the fireworks from our balcony. We didn't care that the balcony had a solid wall. We were the last room on our hall on the left side. I think the room to our left would have had a slightly better view (probably 7040?). We did have bunk beds as requested which was fantastic for our DD10 and DS6. I will post more about CL service on the CL thread.
Bus transportation was very good although I was frustrated a few times. One morning, we stopped at Grand Floridian on the way to HS. I didn't understand that at all! We also stopped at Fort Wilderness on the way to Epcot as well. We enjoyed taking the boat from MK back to WL one afternoon, as the weather was warm but didn't seek it out otherwise.
We enjoyed the grounds and the kids loved the geyser. We also had a BLAST searching for hidden mickeys using the hidden mickey field guide book (the front desk also has a scavenger hunt but it has fewer hidden mickeys). We did this on our last night- the kids were in their pj's. We even ran into two brothers on the same hunt! DH was happy to watch the last half of Monday Night Football in the lounge with a good scotch even if his team lost.
Kids stayed in the Cub's Den one evening and were very happy there. They reported that their dinner was great, they enjoyed the video games and crafts and were quietly watching a movie when we picked them up around 10:30pm. DD10 said she was the oldest but she didn't care. They were the last ones to be picked up that night. They each were given a rice krispie mickey on a stick when they left.
We ate at WCC for breakfast one morning and unfortunately it was our worst meal of the trip. Service was quite slow even though it did not seem very busy. My husband did not eat the beef off his barbecue eggs benedict. My children enjoyed their waffle and pancakes and my bacon & eggs were fine. The grits were actually quite good! Our main disappintment was on the morning of departure. DH specifically left the car in valet thinking it would be easier than getting it out of self parking for our early morning departure. He was told valet opened at 5:00AM. We got down there about 5:10am and found noone there. We spoke to front desk and anyone else we could but it took about 20 minutes for the valet to show up. That made our ride to the airport that much more stressful. I haven't complained to anybody but am considering doing so- any thoughts on this?

There were a lot of resort activities that we did not take advantage of, but it will give us a reason to return! I would definitely go back to WL although DH now says he might be interested in trying the Poly sometime! This was our 2nd trip in 2009 so I don't know when we will return, but I totally have the Disney bug! It is such a great vacation for our family!!!

Everyone returning with great things to say about the WL makes me long to go back now! I'm glad everyone had a great time!

I can't believe how long until we get to return!!!

Ok..our last trip to the WL was late June of 2008. I stumbled across some great shots I had taken. I'm attempting to post some here for your enjoyment.

All taken outside early in the morning by the pool...not many guests out yet.

I hope everyone enjoyed these shots. We love the WL..it's an awesome resort. E..:)

Everyone talking about CL is making wonder if I should try and convince DH to upgrade to CL and then downgrade our dining plan to the regular dining plan next time. Something to think about for sure!!!

Some more random WL photos....I hope I haven't posted too many here.

This was the bounceback offer then last summer.

Hi, all! :goodvibes We got back on the 23rd and have been very busy with Christmas, etc. since.

The Lodge was wonderful! Our room was very clean and the whole resort was spectacular. We had a great time, and I'll try to post a report and pictures later.

Thanks for the recent reviews!

We just changed resorts for the 3rd time for this coming May.

After much debate, we have asked our teens to sit out one trip so that we may still take DD9 and save $3000 for things like car insurance and repairs for them. They agreed and are looking forward to 2011, when DD16 graduates HS and we do a graduation trip.

After informing DD9 of the changes we told her she could pick AKL or WL (within our new budget), she has always wanted to try WL. So we changed ressies for the 3rd time with our pin code!

So we are really enjoying the reviews and pics...:thumbsup2
