For those of you who are getting close to your trip, have you received your package yet? I've received the DME stuff but not the MYW package.

I have not received it yet. Was thinking it would come any day. :confused3

We are arriving Jan 24th and have reserved a Woods View Bunk Room.

Is there any particular floor or area that you would suggest (I heard that there are rooms you might see the fireworks from)?

This is our first trip to WDW. The Lodge looks great.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Everyone, a little on site trip report.]

As some of you may have read in a previous post we were going to surprise my DD(12) with her grandparents at WDW last Friday. I can't tell you how awesome that went. We were seating at Narcoossees for about 5 minutes when as planned my parents walked up to the table. My DD was so excited she couldn't be calm about it; I'm sure there were those in the MK that could have heard her. My wife was balling her eyes out, I was trying not to lose my man card(yep, I cried), our server was in tears, the tables around us were in tears. After not seeing them for two years since they moved it was great. I will never forget that moment at WDW.

As for the trip itself. The weather has been a little cool, but not bad overall. The next few days are suppose to warm up and my DD is hoping for a few hours at the pool; I think she'll get it. As usual, the concierge at the WL is great and the resort is awesome decorated this time of the year.

Today, we are going to spend some time wandering around the resorts and seeing how they are decorated. We need a little break from the parks: yes they have been packed, but we expected that.

I know words don't do much so I'll have to post pictures up when I get back. Again, everyone have a wonderful Christmas.

I'd request a 5th floor room, north wing. That way you might get the view of wishes through the trees, but not the enclosed balconies on the top floor.

Enjoy!!!

That is so awesome!!! I'm glad it all worked out just as you planned!

BTW, you can't lose your man card at Disney. The whole area is exempt!

Can't wait to get there myself.

24 Days!

We booked a Woodsview Bunk room. I had requested Upper floor north wing b/c I was hoping to see the fireworks. We wound up getting 4081...4th floor off the lobby. I was disapointed at first, but took it, as it was ready when we checked in around Noon and we were exhauseted. That night, I was thrilled to come back to the room and see the castle through the trees!
But anyway, as brian said, i'd request Upper floor North wing, or upper floor facing MK to hopefully see some of the Castle and fireworks. Enjoy your trip!

Oh that is so awesome! Brought tears to my eyes too!
Enjoy the rest of your trip, and Merry Christmas!

We came back on Monday from a wonderful stay at the lodge. This was our first time here and let me tell you what a beautiful place, all the christmas decorations and the CMs all excellent. Mousekeeping was also really good the room was always ready when we came back from the parks for a midday rest. We booked a wood view room, I didn't make any specific request and we got a room with view of the fireworks from MK. From Saturday night I think that until Christmas day there were going to be characters at the lobby to take pictures with. On saturday the 19 we saw minnie and mickey all dress up for christmas and on sunday night we saw goofy and pluto. They must be switching them around the resort because on saturday night we had dinner at Chef Mickey and there we saw Daisy and Donald's Duck uncle don't remember its name now. Wilderness Lodge was a beautiful resort I will post pics later.

We also just got back from WL (we were there the 12th - 19th) and had an incredible stay.

We were celebrating a belated 1 year wedding anniversary and I had surprised my husband with staying club level. Working with IPO before the trip was wonderful and we did the Wildlife Discovery Excursion at AK (if you ever stay club level we both highly recommend this - it was amazing).

The lodge itself is always breathtakingly gorgeous but all decorated for Christmas just made it that much more special. Our room also faced the MK and we had an unobstructed view of the fireworks every night (granted the view looking down wasn't so great because we were right over the loading dock - but how can you complain about that when you get to see Cinderella's Castle all lit up every night!).

Every cast member we interacted with was so cheerful and mousekeeping did a wonderful job. My husband and I adopted a bunny back in September that had been abandoned and my mom gave us a bunny beanie baby to take with us so we wouldn't miss her. We kept the beanie baby out on the night stand and one night came home to our little Lucky watching tv with a towel bunny friend. We were tickled, it was just so cute! It's just those little things that really make the difference!

I guess they must have started the character pictures on the 19th (we left in the afternoon) because while we were there they only had a photopass photographer set up in front of the tree with the special flash lighting. We did see Mickey & Minnie taking pictures at the Grand Floridian on Friday night. They were dressed in beautiful victorian style Christmas outfits.

We didn't really have any transportation issues while we were there. We seemed to get very lucky and walk up just as a bus was pulling up for where we wanted to go (which was the complete opposite of our experience on our honeymoon). The only time we really had an issue was waiting for a bus to take us back to the Lodge from DHS. We had waiting for nearly 30 mins for a bus, watching all of the other stops have multiple busses come and go. We finally just got on the bus going to the Contemporary/Polynesian (and had a horrible experience with getting harrassed by that bus driver - but thats a whole other thread) since we knew we could take the boat from the Contemporary. This actually turned out to be a very good thing because I had been craving a caesar salad (which Roaring Fork doesn't have) and decided to try the Contemporary's counter service and guess what, they had a very good caesar salad. So everything happened for a reason! :)

We probably won't be back until 2011 at the earliest and while there are other resorts we would really like to try, it's so hard not to come back home to WL.

I haven't had a chance to really get my pictures upload yet but when I have I will come back to this thread to post pictures of our view and the lodge too!

What a charming story! Thanks so much for your review as well. Hope you continue to have a wonderful vacation.

I agree re: the woods view. If you just don't look down it's great!

I am so pleased you had a great time on your belated honeymoon. The beanie bunny story is too cute too! Thanks for that.

We are booked for a woods view, bunk room Jan 24th to Jan 31st. There is a lot of talk here about CL rooms and service.

What is the price difference for the upgrade? are there any deals for upgrading?

Thanks for all the great information. This is our first trip to Disney World and WL and we are really looking forward to it.

I know there is a 40% off code on the Disney website for CL services. Your best bet is to call CRO and task them to check into it, cause I was unable to find WL CL online, but they were able to. I'll be CL in 22 days, never done it before either.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!

We were at WL 12/13 to 12/20, and we loved it! We were in a bunk bed room facing the pool on the 6th floor. I didn't mind having the solid balcony one bit, and the kids loved the bunk beds :) I loved being able to wander down to Roaring Forks in my jammies for coffee and breakfast when my DS woke up way earlier than everyone else! (That was me in the pink hat and blue fleece trying to hide in the corner;) )

The boat to MK and Ft. Wilderness was great! I think the only bus we waited for a while for was Epcot. We realized how lucky we were at WL when we moved to CBR for 2 nights to stay in a Pirate room. It was a 10 min. walk to coffee and a long bus ride to MK.

We would do the same trip again in a heartbeat - but we would upgrade to Club Level rather than DDP. Definitely going back to WL.
