The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Hey everyone, we got back on the 11th from a 6 day stay at WL and it may have been better than I remembered and certainly better than expected. We stayed in 3116 which was a woods view, bunk bed room. The girls LOVED the bunk bed option and I felt like we had a little bit more room than in a dual queen bed room. Could have been perception though. The view was of the Villas and a walkway out of the lodge to the villas. Nothing special, but the bunkbed room was nice. And mousekeeping was amazing. Devora was her name. If you get her, she's awesome. We tipped her and she saw us in the hallway, asked us if we would be coming back soon or could she start. Then she asked if the girls liked the towel animals and thanked us for the tip. Very nice!!!

Our transportation was awesome. Longest wait was for the MK the first day as we just missed the boat to MK. Contrary to past trips, they actually run the big yellow, white and teal colored boats and the little, open air boats. On breezy days, the smaller boats were AWESOME.

The weather was amazing too, so that probably had something to do with it. This was the first time staying at WL that we didn't eat at WC. Roaring Forks did a decent enough job satisfying us. Every night they had a chef's special. Most of the time it was a flatbread pizza. Sunday when we got there, the special was BBQ brisket pizza. It was AMAZING...and I'm not one who likes BBQ chicken pizza.

I'll post a few pictures once we get them unloaded from the camera. Good luck to all who are going and have a great time!!! We certainly did.

Welcome back! Thanks so much for sharing your WL experience - view doesn't sound too bad - think I know just where you mean. Glad you had a great trip.:goodvibes Looking forward to pics too.:thumbsup2

Wow!! Last week my DH announced that we could upgrade our hotel for our trip to WDW in September. The first place that I thought of was Wilderness Lodge.

I have been to WDW before (in 1997!!), and stayed at POR, so that was where we had booked for this holiday.....BUT.....in the back of my mind I had wished for the WL. So I jumped at the chance to show my husband why it would be a great place to stay. Now it's all booked and ready to go!!

I am thrilled with the access to the Magic Kingdom - and the thought of starting our day with a boat ride sounds amazing. My DH and our children have never been to WDW, so I have planned 12 days that they will never forget - and now after reading this thread - I know that it will be PERFECT!!

I love that I can be here in Sydney and have so much amazing info at my fingertips - thanks for all of the hard work - only 3 months to go - hooray!!

We were nearly neighbors as we were in room 2013 from 6/2-6/12. You can see my comments and review on a separate post (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2739933). Like you, we had a great time. There is just something about Wilderness Lodge that feels calm and relaxing, especially the lobby. We also had a bunkbed room and were quite comfortable with the room size. Our girls loved the bunkbeds. One of our favorite activities was ordering dinner from Roaring Fork and eating outside by the pool.

You certainly had a wonderful vacation and thanks for posting your TR:). So did you book a bounceback?:hyper:

Good morning! How exciting that you got the go ahead to upgrade to the Lodge:goodvibes. You're coming a long way, but I know that you and your family will have a great vacation at WDW and WL.

Don't forget that you can boat to the CR and take the walkway to the MK, too. You could also grab a bite to eat at the CR or even hop on the monorail to go to the Poly, GF or TTC to Epcot;)

I enjoyed your thorough TR that you posted to the Resorts forum. Have you planned a return trip yet?

Thanks! I've not been able to see any photos of the outside of the villas but now that you told me there are five floors, I will ask for the 4th or 5th floor. Thanks again.

Glad to help! There should be some photos of the outside of the Villas on the first page of this thread. Just scroll down. :thumbsup2

I wish!!! We've always wanted to book a bounceback, but never seem to have things in order to do so. My wife's employment situation for next year is in question, so we wanted to be responsible. Actually, we wanted to book, but FELT we had to be responsible! :)

DH and I will be staying at the Lodge for the first time this Nov (belated 20th Anniversary trip without the kids), can someone tell me if there are any king beds in the bear face rooms? I am booked for a Courtyard View and requested a King Bed (this is what we have at home) and to have Inner Courtyard off Lobby. I know requests are not guaranteed but am hopeful...Thanks for your help!!

Yes. I stayed in 5085(I think) in March. It had an awesome view. Right next to the balcony overlook on the 5th floor. Put in your request and note that its your 20th. :thumbsup2

And we were two floors above you in 4109 from the 3rd to the 9th! Hello neighbors

Oh hey, since I popped into this thread, I just remembered I have a question that one of you may know the answer to! We absolutely loved the pillows on the beds. I have read that some people hate them, but I thought they were heavenly. I looked in the Disney Resort collection catalog to see what they were so we could order them, but there are three pillows listed and I don't know which ones they actually use.

Here's the link: http://www.disneyresortcollection.c...ry2Name=Disney+Resort+Pillows&categoryLevel=1

The choices are ultra rest, magic gel, and luxury.

Anyone know? I could call or send an email, I guess, but I thought I'd ask here first. :) Thanks!

Our bed had two that were definitely magic gel. Did not like those too much, really squishy. We had 2 that were more firm.

Just planned a last minute September solo "mommy free time" getaway. Newly joined to DVC so booked at AKV (which I do love) but waitlisted for VWL....keeping fingers crossed the waitlist comes through so I can see Humphrey again! :wizard:

Here are some pictures of the resort. We wanted to get pics of the waterfall, but didn't get around to it...

We were talking last night about our favorite things about WL and so I thought why not ask my friends here:

What is your favorite thing at WL?

Mine would have to be the boat. Though not original to just WL, the way they come in from the MK you suddenly seem so far from anything else. All in just under 10 minutes. The calm of WL just flows over you....

The lobby. I'm an early bird but unfortunately I have teens who don't like to get up early, so I creep downstairs get some coffee and some thing very, very sweet, then I chill out in one of the rocking chairs.

I love how the lobby is usually quiet and you can hear the soundtrack playing. slowly you watch the world wake up as more and more people filter down.

It's an awesome way to wake up and get my day started.
