The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

This is a great thread! We visited the WL on our last trip and really liked it so we decided to stay there when we go for Thanksgiving.

Has anyone stayed in a room with the bunkbeds? My kids are 9 and 4 and sharing 1 bed makes for a lot of complaining, so we opted for the bunkbed rooms. Any advice about asking for a particular area?

Also we ended up doing a split stay b/c we had a pin starting the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but we still wanted to stay at WL so we have to check out Sunday and check back in Sunday-has anyone done this and had to change rooms?

TIA for all the work that has gone into this thread-7 1/2 months is a long time to wait, LOL!

WOOHOO! We just arrived here last night. We drove from NJ, leaving at 330 am (straight thru) and there is no more beautiful and welcoming site to see than this resort. We stayed here once before but it is even more beautiful than I remember. We did online checkin. We had a standard room booked and I asked for north wing, upper floor. When we got to our room on the 6th floor we realized we had been upgraded to a courtyard view!!! Yeah! (This kind of thing does not happen much to me! Lol. I was so surprised!). Anyway, we grabbed a bite at Roaring Forks and brought it back to the room. Finally got to relax and now we are ready for some fun!

Congrats!! Is it one of the enclosed balconies or open balcony? I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Are the bus stops finished?

Enjoy the Magic!

Is the geyser up & running yet?

Hey all.... We have an open balcony, the geysey is not working and the bus stops are still moved to the parking lot.

We stayed in a bunkbed room in Oct '10. Our boys are way too big to share beds and the bunkbed option was perfect. The beds are large enough for an adult (of smallish size) DS 15 is 5'5" and had plenty of room.

Our room was on the ground floor b/c we were next door to MIL and FIL in a king sized bed. I was worried about noise but the room was extremely quiet. We were facing the villas and the 'quiet' pool. That worked out great because the pool was only very short walk from our patio!

It was our first stay at WL but we will definitely be back!

Do they only have the current schedule out or is it possible to post May's yet? Just curious! Movies on the beach are one of our favorite things to do - but only if it's a movie that we are excited for! Thanks!

I am planning a one night stay at Wilderness Lodge and was wondering if I could order room service from Artist Point?

Yes, there is room service and here's the menu, but it's just your basic fare. To order from Artist's Point, you would have to arrange for carry-out, I suspect. Unless you're staying CL and the concierge has some way to arrange delivery of AP food to you.

Question for anyone who knows this resort well. When I booked, I had to go with a courtyard view room. I requested to be as far away from the pool as possible because I was worried about noise at night. Is the noise an issue? Is there anyway to see the MK fireworks from a courtyard view room?

You will not be able to see the fireworks from any of the courtyard view rooms. There are a few woods view rooms that have an obstructed view of the MK area.

Wood View rooms overlooking the Otter Pond: (Northside)
The last group of rooms that are Woods View rooms are located on the North side of the Lodge beyond the mid-way elevators. They are on floors 1-6 they face toward the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom giving you the possibility of seeing the fireworks from your balcony on the higher floors. They also overlook the Otter Pond where the local wildlife visits through out the day. (Otters, ducks, rabbits armadillos and deer) Rooms would be even # from 1004-1034, 2004-2034, 3004-3034, 4004-4034, 5004-5034 and 6004-6034. The rooms located on the 6th floor # 6004-6034 have the enclosed dormer balconies so guest have to stand to enjoy the views.

I can't remember the exact room number, but I stayed in a room overooking the otter pond on the 5th floor close to 5034 and could see some of the fireworks. It was a very quiet room.

I would keep checking back and try to get a woods view, then request a 5th floor in the very end of the north wing. Many times rooms come available as the date gets closer. I recommend calling first thing in the morning and having them check for rooms by looking up your current reservation. That way if you have a discount or pin code it stays with the reservation.

If you want a quieter CY room I would request a room close to the lobby.

If you want to possibly see fireworks from a CY view some of the high floor (5th)rooms on the very end of the south wing may give that to you, but they are right over the pool area.

Hope this helps

Brian

Brian, we had a great fireworks view in our corner Villa room - the side window faced the back side of the courtyard rooms (and looking for the side of balcony - you know, the Lodge wing that faces the Villas pool?). So I wondered if the courtyard rooms could also see the tops as well as we did. This is good to know that it is not the same. Thanks!

(how that little Princess of your doing?? I haven't been around lately - how did you feel about CSR??)
