Friday 30th May

Our last day at WDW, sad faces all round but we're not going to let that spoil our fun today. We had scheduled a nice quiet day at SAB but what with it being our last chance to see Star Wars weekend at MGM, the original plan go shelved!

Off to catch the boat over to MGM then where we're greeted by armed storm troopers on the roof of the entrance, and as you can probably guess by now, the first stop will be to get Fps for TOT, in fact even better, no queue, so it's Fps for later and we quickly ride it now before the Star Wars parade. Watched the parade, which was shorter than I'd expected but ok none the less, then TOT again, lunch and off to do some character greetings / photos with the Star Wars characters. Now these are possibly the longest queues we've sen since we've been here! Rads decided to just get her photo taken with the Emporer and his storm troopers as we were waiting when they arrived no only had to wait a few minutes.

Great atmosphere although I can't imagine how busy it must have got at the weekend.

On the way out we managed to catch Mike from Monsters Inc, with no queue at all, which delighted Rads, Zak on the other hand wasn't so pleased, he'd been so excited at every character up until now, for some reason though, he wasn't too impressed with Mike!!!

When we'd finished at MGM we got the boat back to the Beach Club and got into our swim things to spend the afternoon at SAB, sadly our last as it's time to go home tomorrow :-( Had a great afternoon there and we also managed to hire tubes, so lots of floating around on those before heading up to the room for showers and off to the Boardwalk for dinner.

Dinner at the Big River Brewing Company again, we ate outside and had a great view of the illuminations (and some great beer too), an excellent way to consolidate a wonderful holiday.

And off home..........

Now I'm not going to give you a blow by blow account of our journey home as that would be really boring but there are a few points that I think need telling, and need to be well documented for teasing purposes for years and years to come. Tee hee.

Firstly, going home got off to a minor bad start as on Thursday we'd have photos taken in MK in front of the castle as we plan to do this every time we go, so in years to come we can look back at how we've changed over the years (hopefully for the better), went to pick them up yesterday and they hadn't arrived! This never happens with Disney :-( why does it only happen when you don't have the time to wait. Anyway, after trying back later as suggested by the staff and it still not being there, they contacted MK and ordered a replacement to arrive this morning in time for us checking out.

So we phone around an hour before check out and the time we need to leave for the airport, but it's not there as promised! Not good. Front desk say they'll send it on to us in the UK - phew. So we carry on packing, not leaving a space for it. Around 10 minutes before we're due to leave, there's a phonecall – guess what? You've got it, it's arrived, so off I trundle, leaving Si to reopen the case to pop it in and look after the teenies and collect it from front desk, all going well so far........

I don't know why, but I thought I'd just check it as I was walking back to the BCV. Lovely picture, Cinderella's castle looking great in the background and a very happy family enjoying their holiday, sadly though I had no idea who they were!
Back to front desk I go where we spent what seemed like an age, with the poor girl on the desk phoning MK and taking descriptions from me as to what we were all wearing, how we were standing etc. so that they could track this picture down and send it on to us at home. I'm beginning to wonder now if it's worth it to be honest! Anyhow, all sorted, I thank her very much and said that maybe on the way back to the room I should just check in the gift shop to see if by some miracle the original had arrived, she agreed – need I say any more! Ho hum.

So we're now around ½ hour behind schedule, fortunately my DH always allows way too much time in his schedules so we can afford to have wasted a little bit of time, so all packed up we phone bell services and arrange for them to take the luggage to front desk, while Si goes to get the car and we arrange to meet down there. Simple huh? Noooooooo not on our trip home. Around 5 minutes after leaving the room and before the bellboy had arrived, a very stressed Si appeared at the room again. “what's wrong darling?” said a worried me, he shouldn't be back at the room. Looking very stressed and embarrased he mumbles something about locking the keys in the car! At this point, I think it's hilarious and burst out laughing, he tells me I could at least be cross as he feels so bad! LOL These things happen, we'll sort it out and if not them we'll just have to live at the BCV. He'd started the engine and shut the doors to let the air con cool the car down and it's locked itself – oh dear!

The bell boy arrives and we explain the predicament, he very kindly claims he'll get the door open for us to avoid the apparent enormous cost of a locksmith. Around half an hour and several failed attempts later he gives in, apologises about the cost we're about to endure (like we care, it has to be cheaper than paying for new flights) and contacts a locksmith for us.
He arrives in what seems like 90 seconds – guess he wasn't far away, gets his 'how to break into any vehicle' manual out and is in within minutes. For this he charges us $35, THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS!!!! amazing, we were expecting to pay around $235!!!! Why on earth didn't we just call him in the first place.
Hot tip, if this happens to you, just call the locksmith, they're not expensive!

And we're on our way, crowning moment of glory though was when we took the car back, I drove and had the window open so the guy could tell us where to pull up. “leave the engine running please but don't close the window, these have a habit of locking themselves” is the advice he kindly offers!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

With the exception of the train we should have caught being cancelled and having to take a taxi into the city (something we wanted to avoid at all costs) the journey home went relatvely smoothy, I did moan like hell though due to my hatred of the trains and having just flown overnight, poor Si. Zak fell asleep on take off and we woke him up to take him out of the seat for landing – perfect, I'm sure we'll pay for that one day when he's in his teens! Rads insisted she didn't need to sleep on the plane, and instead fell asleep numerous times in standing / sitting positions on the train, in the taxi, at the station, in the car, and finally on the settee when we got home.

Good to be home? Yes it's always good to be home, but I'd rather be at Disney :-)

Wonderful reports Jo - and no, the last one wasn't a let down at all :D :D
