Hello fellow DISsers !!

I decided to do another quick Dining review before we leave on Friday for the World. For those of you just tuning in, I injured my ankle pretty badly and it requires surgery to fix it.

Since the injury occurred so close to our September trip, we were unable to cancel or reschedule so we are going to go ahead and try to enjoy it instead of losing our proverbial hiney in points and money.

I will be scooter Mom :moped: on this trip, since I can only manage a few steps at a time. In the meantime, I don't have much to do since I can't walk, so I thought I would share to ease my boredom and hopefully help some people with their dining decisions and provide food porn for those that enjoy it so much.

When: June 15 - 18, 2012

Where we stayed: Old Key West

Who:

Me (Susan) - 44 yr old Irrigation Designer for a Landscape Architect

DSC02098.jpg

(This is me hiding behind the kids. I am the most unphotogenic person alive)

DH - My wonderful husband that puts up with my Disney obsession. Works in upper management for a chemical company.

DSC01793.jpg

DS - 13 year old thrill seeker, but still a sweet boy (so far)

DSC02857.jpg

DD - 9 year (soon to be 10 years) old sweetie who loves all things Disney

We love the dining plan and always get it. This really helps me and DH from fighting so much. It is just better for us if everything is paid for beforehand. He tends to get really emotional about money and for him to not have to worry about the bottom line really helps him relax and enjoy our meals.

Anyway, WPE is counter service and it is the BEST counter service place on property in terms of value. The food is table service quality and there are even waiters that will bring your food and get you refills. DH and I almost always split meals. We just find that ordering four is too much food and in the end, we are left with extra credits that we can use for one last meal.
Let’s get down to some food porn, shall we ??

DH and I decided to split:

BACON WRAPPED MEATLOAF, MASHED POTATOES, PORT WINE SAUCE, CRISPY ONION RINGS 12.95

DSC03263.jpg

Our waiter brought us an extra plate. This dish is just soooo full of flavor and different textures. Just a really great meal.

The kids each had:

CRISPY CHICKEN TENDERS WITH FRENCH FRIES 9.95

DSC03264.jpg

They love these chicken tenders and I have to admit, they are really good. Kid approved. It comes with a little salad in the middle that DH and I enjoyed. Even though we ordered just three meals for 4 people, we didn’t eat it all.

Most of you might not know this, but counter service credits count the same as an adult as they do for a child. So you can order your child something from the adult menu and it will be the same credit. Even though I only ordered three meals, the cashier charged us for four. I am sooo glad I checked the receipt and caught that. Our waiter gladly fixed for us and earned an extra big tip for his and help and excellent service.

For dessert DH and I split:

VANILLA BEAN CHEESECAKE 4.95
DSC03265.jpg

The kind of black looking stuff is a crème brulee sort of topping. So a little crisp layer on top like crème brulee. This cheesecake is always a win for us. So light and creamy and not too heavy. Very delicious.

In the picture you can see that DS got a sugar cookie and DD got a brownie. The cookie was a cookie. DS said it was good. Soft and not too hard. DD loves these brownies and I can see why. They really do taste good. They are very dense and filling though, so she saved half of it to eat later.

Snacks at Animal Kingdom

DS wanted a frozen coke so we stopped to get one.

DSC03320.jpg

I got a frozen lemonade.

DSC03322.jpg

I love these frozen drinks on a hot day. They are so refreshing. I'm am not a big fan of the paper straws, though, but I see why they are necessary.

Following as well!! It looks like it was just a few days but some good food packed in!!

DSC03383.jpg

We ordered this plain and it came with everything. I asked DS if he wanted another one, but he said no. So we scraped off what we could and he ate like four bites. I had a bite and I loved it. Picky kids !! What are ya gonna do ?? It came with those marinated cucumbers, too. We really liked these. Well DH and I did. The kids, of course, wouldn't touch them.

DH and I split the Crispy Mahi-Mahi.

Crispy Mahi Mahi - filet of mahi mahi, Japanese bread crumbs, Cantonese sweet and sour sauce, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables $22.99

DSC03384.jpg

This is so yummy. We really enjoyed it. Maybe this time the fish was a little dry, but still it tasted amazing. Very delicious.

For dessert, DD got the kids sundae

DSC03385.jpg

Which she liked.

DS got the sorbets.

Seriously, y’all. This is the most amazing dessert ever. Soo, so, so good !!
Basically, this is the same meal we had in April. Hey, if it isn’t broke … don’t fix it. AmIright ??

Great start to your reviews! WPE's meatloaf looks great, and now I'm really missing the wontons from Yak and Yeti. :goodvibes

Their meatloaf is sooo yummy !! I know I need to try other things, but I just keep gravitating back to the meatloaf. I love those onion rings on top and the potatoes, too. Just good comfort food that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

I was wondering if those fried wontons were going to live up to the hype on the DIS. I am so glad they did !!! Very tasty and original dessert.

Great reviews! Can't wait to read more! :)

:welcome: Posting more later today !!

They had an exhibit set up to promote Brave and the kids really loved it. It was an archery game and we finished in time for our lunch ADR for:

DSC03503.jpg

We checked in right at 11:30 AM and the lobby was crowded. The CM’s came out to sing and after a short while we were all seated.

DSC03504.jpg

I love this little cabin. Do you think they would let me live there ?? These gardens are just beautiful.

And the waterfall behind the restaurant …..

DSC03511.jpg

DSC03512.jpg

We were seated and ordered drinks. And then the wonderful pretzel bread came (angels singing)

Untitled-2.jpg

DSC03516.jpg

DH ordered that famous

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and Bacon Cup $5.49 Bowl $6.99

DSC03515.jpg

I ordered a cup.

This the best soup ever !! We used the pretzel bread to sop it up. There wasn’t a morsel left. Not even a tiny smackerel .

Our super picky DD ordered plain noodles with cheese.

DSC03517.jpg

Sigh …..

DS ordered the burger

Le Cellier House Burger - roasted mushrooms, smoked bacon, maple barbecue, Black Diamond Cheddar, and crispy onions, and french fries $14.99

Just beef, bun and cheese.

DSC03518.jpg

Those fries were sooo good. Not as big as steak fries, but bigger than the shoestrings fries. Crispy on the outside, but nice fluffy on the inside.

Perfect …..

DH and I split the Mushroom Filet

DSC03519.jpg

This was amazing. You could cut the filet with your fork. And the risotto was good, not as salty as some people have described, but it was salty. Not inedible though. Loved the mushrooms, too. We very much enjoyed this entrée.

For dessert. DS ordered a sundae

DSC03522.jpg

I got a chocolate martini. Because well … it seemed good at the time.

DSC03521.jpg

DSC03520.jpg

Look y'all !!! Milk AND white chocolate shavings !! And it was. Delicious !!

DD got the Chocolate Moose

DSC03523.jpg

DH got some chocolate brownie cheesecake thing that was very tasty.

DSC03524.jpg

This meal was one of the favorites of our trip.

I am super bummed about this restaurant going to 2 table services credits for lunch. We really love it, but we just don't feel like it is worth the 2 credits for lunch. Too bad they don't have a kiosk outside that serves just the soup (besides Food and Wine of course). Love that soup !!

After touring through World Showcase for a couple of hours, it was time.

Grey. Goose. Slushie.

DSC03567.jpg

DSC03568.jpg

DSC03569.jpg

I love this drink !! One of these was for DH, since I wasn't sharing !!

**********

Then we got the kids their Kaki Gori.

DSC03582.jpg

DSC03583.jpg

We took a seat in the shade in the America pavilion to rest so they could enjoy their treats.

DSC03584.jpg

DSC03581.jpg

***************
We stopped at Karamell Kuche to burn some snack credits.

DSC03602.jpg

DD got some chocolate and caramel covered marshmallows.

DSC03598.jpg

I got a Salted Chocolate covered caramel. DH had a few bites.

DSC03599.jpg

DH got some VERY cold beer. I just love the beer in the Germany pavilion. It is always so cold and I really like it that way.

DSC03600.jpg

DSC03601.jpg

love the salted caramel chocolate from Karamell Kuche but never managed to try the grey goose slushie yet - might be another add to the list :)
