Day 4 (August 26)
After Mickey calls we are up and at em and on our way to AK. It is hot already as we wait for the bus. We get to AK about 8:15 and Chip and Dale are in front. I really want to take a picture of the boys with them because I always have and its fun to see them get taller then C &D but if there is a crowd control person around they arent paying much attention and while my boys are patiently waiting thier turn, anyone with younger kids or a stroller is cutting in front of them. We give up and go on our way. They are hungry and I want more coffee, we stop and they get bagels, danish and oj, I get a frozen coffee which is tasty but too sweet- Dan finishes it for me. We ride Dinosaur, get off and ride it again. We make funny faces when they take the picture, which cracks us up. We wander over and do the safari with no wait (we may have gotten a fastpass, I am not sure). The driver is from Nairobi and very good. We see a fair amount of animals and the lion is visible, sleeping, but we can see him and he is awesome looking. We wander somemore, looking in the shops and at the animals and go over to Kali River Ride- there is no wait so we go on. I put my slicker on much to the kids disgust but I hate walking around with wet clothes and it is so humid I doubt we would ever dry off. The ride is fun, I stay relatively dry, they get drenched. We share our boat with a woman and little girl from England and a couple and their son from Japan. Part of the reason this ride was so much fun this time was the group we were with. They were loving it and really laughing, which made it so much fun. My kids were the wettest on the boat. We then stopped at the Chakandari Chicken Shop for a snack, Nick got corn on the cob and Dan got pot stickers and took the filling out and ate them. Have you ever seen what the meat looks like once its out of the wonton? Trust me, it didnt look too appetizing. We look in some more shops, look at the gorillas and other animals, get more drinks and decide it is tooooo hot. We stop for lunch at the Tusker House where Nick and I split the peanut crusted chicken and Dan gets a vegetable wrap. We order chocolate cake for dessert which no one finishes. We use our vouchers here and save about $8. Dan finds a pair of pink plastic sunglasses with Tinkerbell and rhinestones on them that he thinks would be the perfect gift for his girlfriend but they are very scratched up. They dont have any others at this shop but give us some ideas where they might. We work our way to the exit looking for these glasses. No place has them but he finds a Fox and Hound pin which would also be "perfect:, he buys it and we are off to the YC where we spend the afternoon swimming. AHHHHHHHHHH.
After a couple hours we decide to go to MK and finish the few things we still want to do. We go on POC where we are surrounded by crying children once again. we have a kid crying in the row in frint of us and one in the row in back of us. we also have to listen to a running commentary about the pirates "Oh look, the pirates are playing tag, arent they funny?" Waaaaaaaaaah, Waaaaaaahhhhhhh. We manage to enjoy the ride anyway. The line for Jungle Cruise is too long so we skip it, Dan thinks this is the "lamest" anyway. We go on Big Thunder Mtn which Nick has never done, we all enjoy that. We walk over and do COP which I have never done, and we enjoy (its a great big beautiful tomorrow). We go on TTA a couple of times. Dan is hungry so we go the the Main St Bakery and he gets a portabella mushroom sandwich, Nick and I get drinks. we walk around some and since MK is closing at 7 and its getting close we decide to go to Country Bear Jamboree to finish the day. The bears are all outside dancing and whooping it up. One runs (lumbers) over to me and gives me a big hug, which was nice. I notice he is hugging lots of us mom-types, must be his job. They do a line dance with people from the small crowd, I want to get a picture with Liver Lips and the kids but he is too busy dancing. I realize the heat has gotten to me or I am loosing my mind because for a split second I am wondering if they will not have the last show because the bears are all outside. :) They do have the last show which we all enjoy (why this isnt lame and JC is isnt clear to me but I dont question it). Its 7 now and everything is closing, sigh. Goodbye to MK.
We take a bus to the Boardwalk so we can got to Spoodles to eat. I see a man with a Hawaiian shirt and Mickey ears on. He is nice looking and just sitting calmly talking with the woman he is with. I am in love. I realize I dont know any men who would wear a Hawaiian shirt or Mickey ears let alone both at the same time. I also wonder where are all these men who like Disney and how come I never meet them? They are probably all happily married. Oh well. Anyway, there isnt a wait for Spoodes. Dan orders swordfish with red pepper couscous, I am not very hungry and neither is Nick so I order the dip and bread appetizer for us all to share, a salad for me and a flat bread pizza for Nick. The food is very good. We stop at the bakery for Dan to check out the desserts and he decides he will come back later for something. Back to the hotel, back to the pool. It is another beautiful night. Later Dan and Nick walk to get a snack from the bakery, I pack up for our switch to PO the next day and we are all shocked and sad we only have one full day left. Normally we are ready to go by the end of 5 days but we arent this trip at all. Maybe because we have done more relaxing at the pool and arent so tired. I think about just staying at the YC for the last night because we like it so much but we have always spent at least one night at PO and they really want to switch so its really fine. End of day 4.

what a great day - loved your comment about the guy with the hawaiian shirt and mickey ears! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip - thanks for posting

What a great day at the Animal Kingdom.....

Now this might sound wierd but there is a stand that my DH always finds a pair of sunglasses that he loves in the AK! The wierd part is that he loves them so much that he is never happy till we go back and get another pair from this lilttle shop (actually it is not even a shop it is a cart right next to the Tusker House!!!) I wonder if it is the same one your Son found the sunglasses for his girlfriend? And you know the wierd thing about it is that he has looked all over Disneyworld and not been able to find any other glasses he likes!!!

I have to admit I am a little sad you are leaving YC too! But I'm sure you had a great time at PO! You really had a wonderful trip! Looking forward to reading your next post! :D

Well I do know that at least one of "those" guys that wears Hawaiian shirts and Mickey ears is married. That's because he's married to me. Embarasses the heck out of our kids. :D

Love your trip reports, thanks so much for writing them.

Robin, That is the exact shop, right by Tusker House and we never found the exact glasses for Dans girlfriend anywhere else. Funny!
Figment- Ok, you didnt happen to be at WDW last week did you???? I am jealous!!! You are a lucky woman, in my opinion!!!!
Thanks for reading. WW

If you saw Figmentvi's DH you would remember--TRUST ME!!!!!! The Hawaiian shirts he wears are outrageous and now he has my DH buying them--so if you are in WDW in Dec and see 2 WEIRDO's in the Hawaiian shirts, those 2 guys would be related to me AND MARRIED:p Thanks for sharing your trip with us!!!!!

OK, this is not fair there are at least 3 men out there who will wear Hawaiian shirts and Mickey ears? And they are all married??? I am bummed. :(
