The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

I have a Cuisinart- kind of like the first one- but it has two sections that does two different flavors. I like it. It's pretty nice. Looks like 2 of the first one crammed together.

Good to know...she was also considering this one with two cannisters.

Lori, is yours easy to clean. She is concerned about that.

I heard about that. My ex-sil lives in TX too and posted on FB about schools being delayed. Not sure where exactly she is but they got a total of 5 inches. She is from MO so she thinks everyones reaction to it was quite comical. ;)

I didn't hear of any schools delaying - it melted when it hit pavement but did stick to grass for a few hours. Is she in the DFW area?

:dancer:This is DH doing his I got the job dance!!!!!!!!:dancer:

Thank you all for the prayers. He has to go Friday to finalize paperwork and details.

:cool1:

Kat - I have that reservation for Tchoup Chop for our trip and I'm trying to think budget. Do you remember the price range on entrees? I haven't found a menu online with prices easily. You said it was amazing, right?

It was incredible! Apps are around $10 and entrees are $20-$35. We did the tasting menu and I have some pics that I really need to upload and post!

WFD - Lemon chicken, pasta and broccoli.

Wow, it has been rainy and windy all night here! Miserable. We have tons of branches down in our driveway and the flag pole on the house got bent down.

WFD- shaved steak subs with sauteed onions mushrooms and swiss.

Quick fly by this morning. We are upgrading our computers at work (thank heavens, my post yesterday went when the system when down AGAIN). Anyway, the computer guys said we would be down at least until the afternoon, so I may not be back on.

Morning! It's another chilly day, here! I'm having the biggest problem staying warm this winter! Don't know why. Not liking it!!!

Today is my day to wrap the Christmas presents that I have so far, and see where I stand. Tonight, I'll have Alan put up the second tree, and while the kids are decorating the tree downstairs, I'll try to figure something out for the tree upstairs. That's typically my Disney tree, but all the ornaments are breakable, and with Timothy into everything, that's not a good idea. I may make some cookie ornaments this year, and let the upstairs one be things like applesauce/cinnamon ornaments, stained glass cookie ornaments, popcorn chain, and other edible ornaments. Then I won't feel badly when Timothy pulls the tree over. I know it's going to happen, and I just don't want to lose any of my Disney ornaments.

Dinner is up in the air right now, although I saw a recipe on the Pioneer Woman site that had me drooling. A lemon chicken sandwich. I'm going to have to think about it some more before I go to the store.

Please keep my SIL in your thoughts. She is pregnant with her first baby (actually due today) and was put in the hospital yesterday with dangerously high blood pressure. Her doctor is worried about preeclampsia. They are trying to get her pressure to a point where they can take the baby. I'm a bit worried, as I haven't heard from them since last night!

Have a great day, everyone!

Glynis- she is absolutely remembered in my prayers

Just stopping in, I have a lot to do today while I do not have the baby. Marisa stayed here last night, it was pouring after the movie and Welby refused to take her home because she has a walk to her door. Kady has poor Buddy pulling his hair out. He wants to take her shopping and she was trying to tell him how busy she is, she said she could fit him in next Wednesday :rotfl:She told me all she has going on and I was :faint: just hearing it. He coul dnot get past "and then I have to rest...." :upsidedow

I took a small pork roast out for tonight, I hope to get that cooked with some roasted sweet potatoes and a salad.

I can imagine the look on Buddy's face, too funny!:lmao:

The baby is here! Born at 2:10 this morning. 7 pounds 9 ounces. Not sure on the length. Beautiful baby boy, and his name is Paxton James. I'm so thrilled!!!

I'm flying to be with them Sunday morning! I can't wait!!!! This is my baby brother, and his wife. He's been really depressed lately since my mom isn't here and she used to come stay for a week after each grandchild was born. I understand the feeling, so my dad and I are flying out to Syracuse to stay with them until Thursday! I'm so excited!!!!

By the way, SIL is doing fine. Once the baby was born, her blood pressure went down, and she is feeling very good!!!

Thanks for the thoughts!

She is in El Paso. Said it all melted pretty quickly but turned to ice then the ice has melted pretty quickly too.

That's great! Glad everything went well and everyone is fine.

Dinner tonight will be a sub, have lots of errands to run tonight.

Yes you do! Before I leave on my trip! :flower3: That's helpful, thanks!

I seeminly acquired a malware in my internet browser but my tech guy is too busy to mess with it and I don't have the admin rights to take care of it myself  So, I just deal until he has time to fix it.

I saw on FB that he arrived! :woohoo: I am so glad you will get to spend a week with your dad and the newest addition to your family.

Yeah, the ice is what kills us around here. It's typically black ice so you have no idea you're on it until you're spinning in circles or sliding off into a ditch. Fun times! When I lived in Ohio, it was typically just snow and slush which was easy to drive in. Thankfully the church always closes when it ices so no one dies on the way in but DH has worked for companies that wouldn't close, or even delay entry, so he had to slide into work. Annoying.

I forgot I had an open house tonight for a friend's new interior design business and I'm dressed in a hoodie and jeans. :headache: I have to figure that out. We are planning on the ranch chicken tonight when we get in. We'll see what time we get home.

Ann- Congratulations to Ron, you must all be so excited!

Glynis- Thanks for sharing such wonderful news, I'm glad you and your dad will be able to fly out.

Nancy- I hope Kady is able to pencil Buddy in at some point. How is Marisa's therapy going?

Maria- Still thinking of you.

I forgot I'm going to my parents for dinner tonight, so our ranch chicken will wait until tomorrow. I'm making a batch of chili for my husband to eat since he won't make it to my parents. It was so rainy and windy I'm sure he'll just want to come home and take a warm shower. Have a great day everyone!

Glynis, congrats Auntie! Glad everyone is healthy and happy.

Nancy & Marisa, I think Kady better start interviewing for a personal assistant :lmao: before her crazy life gets more out of control. She is so darn cute.

Good to know...she was also considering this one with two cannisters.

Lori, is yours easy to clean. She is concerned about that.

Super easy to clean. almost everything comes off and all but the canisters could probably go in the dishwasher. I like that I can do only one batch at a time also if I want- don't HAVE to run both but you can.

Trust me.... it has to be easy if I'm making it from scratch and not going to get Hagen Daz dulche de leche!;)

I'm thinking she needs a Daytimer or a palm pilot for Christmas.... so she can keep track of everything!:lmao:

Ann- congratulations to Ron on the new job!

Glynis, congratulations on the new arrival!! I also wanted to tell you that I have made that pioneer woman lemon chicken sandwich, and it tastes just as good as it looks. YUM! I've made a bunch of things from her site. Did you know that she just published a cookbook?

I ended up having to stay late last night, so by the time I got home I was too hungry and tired to make anything good, so I just heated up some annies mac and cheese that I keep in the house for Liam. It brought me back to the days when Laura and I shared an apartment, before we each got married...Annie's was our dinner at least once a week. Sometimes we would get fancy and stir in some frozen peas and corn. :rotfl:

Dinner tonight is either going to be the egg dish I mentioned earlier this week, a shrimp and vegetable stir fry, or quesadillas. See, I posted three things..the odds are decent that I'll choose one of them, right?

My boss gave me tomorrow off as a thank you for working extra this week, so I am going to start putting up the Christmas tree (assuming I can convince John to help me haul the box out of the basement this evening).
