The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Lauri, thinking of you and your MIL. We are here when you need to relieve stress, tears, etc.

Sheryl, I hate when appointments get mixed up.

Kat, glad you took our advice. We worry about you!

Maria, hope you are getting needed rest.

Emma made out well at the Dr. today. She had lost some of her birth weight at the hospital. She was back to her original weight of 7lb 5 oz. I can't believe it has already been a week. Everything else was good, no shots till 2 months. Her next appointment is in two weeks for a weight check.

WFD- Chicken fajitas

My parents did not stay for lunch. DM wanted to go to the local grocery store, even through her three freezers are loaded chuck full for just two people. :lmao: That woman could live in a grocery store and be happy.
More rain here again, I am starting to wilt...the only day of sun seemed like the day Emma was delivered! :goodvibes

Lauri -- I am sorry your MIL's situation is so difficult. Please make sure everyone knows that you are still trying to get better yourself...no walking with babies!

Ann -- I used to put Caili in her bucket seat and bring her into the bathroom with me when I showered. It was the one place I knew Liam wouldn't bother her. I'm glad all is well with you and Emma.

Nancy -- That's why I made Greg return all the creatures. I knew they would be making a mess, and I knew I would be the one who had to clean it.

Bethany -- I'm glad you finally have your puppy.

I rethought it and I'm going to put the gym off until later this week, my stomach isn't 100% yet.

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself.

Liam's game was a huge disappointment. First of all, they lost 18-3. Second, the coaches don't know Liam, so Liam batted last and sat on the bench two out of four innings. I don't need to tell you that he didn't pitch. Greg did ask the coach why Liam sat for two innings when other kids didn't, and the coach said he has it all on his computer or something. :confused3 I'm going to wait at least a week to see if things improve, but I'm not going to make Liam be on the team if he isn't going to play. Liam did have a really nice hit and he scored one of the runs.

Well, we had three days of sun, and now we are back to rain. I was hoping to grill tonight, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I guess we'll have pasta instead. The kids are going to be happy.

I realized I forgot a couple things:

Aimee -- I hope your day was better today.

Sheryl -- I'm sorry your appointments got messed up...I would be mad too. I hope the rest of the day improved.

Marilyn -- I would have declined the hug too.

Stephanie -- That is a nice surprise to wake up to...tickets to Disney!

Okay, I think I'm caught up now, but I apologize if I forgot something. We are having a thunderstorm, so I am getting off the computer. BBL.

Had to leave work and come home, stomach again.:sad2:

Kat please take it easy lassie....

Stephanie - nice one with the tickets.

I got an email from FedEx to say my MNSSHP tix's had been shipped and I was beside myself with excitement.

I make my ADR's on sunday.

If youse would like me to try and book Cali Grill for us all let me know.

 to all who need them.

Being back at work has kicked my butt and im feelin a wee bit run down.

Take care of you and yours....xx

So sorry my friend, your in my prayers.

I haven't looked back but wanted to update everyone.

I was back in the hospital most of today, my fever was over 103 & would not break with Motrin & Tylenol. They hydrated me & gave me some Tylenol 3 for the pain & I'm much better.
Of course they did the swab for swine flu & thank God it was negative. They have seen several cases like mine the last few weeks after people have been on planes.

Kat & I have discussed the F&W ressies & I will be making the ADRs for us.....Please look at the 1st page & let me now what you would like to participate in.....I will post a reminder a few more times:)

Love to my friends:grouphug:

Augh, what a yucky day for you! What finally broke the fever? What do they think it is?

Day 2 went okay, though I have some serious discipline issues to deal with tomorrow. We include our neighborhood afterschool program kids and there are issues that just come with that dynamic that are often hard to deal with. Had about 150 today.

I fed the dogs and sat down to check my email and woke up an hour later  I still don't feel swift, though I spoke with my GI's assistant and he is going to call in some meds tomorrow. I see him Monday but I can't wait until Monday to get on some medication... I just keep taking pain meds and trucking along!

I made a Boca burger with sliced avocado and some mashed potatoes for dinner.

Do you know how hard it is to find a cherry pitter? :headache: Target sells them but didn't have any in stock and WalMart didn't seem to sell them. On top of that neither one had jelly jars.

Had salmon, orzo and green beans for dinner tonight.

Merle Do you have a hardware store nearby? That's were I go. I've seen canning jars in some of the grocery stores also.

Kathy Eat some yogurt and drink some mint tea. Mint has a calming effect on tummy and the yogurt puts back the good bacteria in your intestines and not the "light" kind you need it with the active cultures.

Maria Don't overdo things to early continue to rest and hydrate.

Aimee I hope you get some relief as well

Tonight I am cooking something anything I am tired of leftovers. :rolleyes1

Morning ladies! Woke up this morning to find out that my sweet hubby booked my flight for F&W last night! :cool1::cool1: So excited!!!

I am so excited for you too!!!!!!!!!!!!

Catching up food wise, for the fourth of july weekend my mother and I made curried chicken salad, black bean and mango salad, fried chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, arugula salad with candied pecans and strawberries, roasted shrimp and orzo salad with dill and cucumber, cheese and pate plate, chocolates and cherries. I have pictures but have not uploaded them yet. We had picnics at Tanglewood from the salads all weekend. Yesterday I also made a wilted spinach salad to supplement the last of the food from the weekend.

Your celebrations make our burgers and dogs look boring :worship:
I am so MAD! The dr's office totally screwed up my pre-op appts today.

:headache: And yet if you made the mistake you may be charged for an office visit if the Dr could not fit you in. Somehow it does not seem fair!

Emma made out well at the Dr. today.

So fast she grows!

Liam's game was a huge disappointment.Second, the coaches don't know Liam, so Liam batted last and sat on the bench two out of four innings. I don't need to tell you that he didn't pitch. Liam did have a really nice hit and he scored one of the runs.

That was the roughest thing about All Stars the first year Deb played. The coaches did not know her, she did not play much and she sat out a lot. That first season is a proving ground and I think it is very hard on parents and kids. At that stage it is all about winning (at least that is the reason Gail was given) The first game Debbie did not play at all! I sure can sympathize with Liam and with you all as well, it was pretty awful that year.

Being back at work has kicked my butt and im feelin a wee bit run down.

 I feel sop badly for you, my friend

I imagine sealing with the kids issues as well as the "normal" days you have is enough to set your stomach off! Take care!

Do you know how hard it is to find a cherry pitter? :headache: Target sells them but didn't have any in stock and WalMart didn't seem to sell them. On top of that neither one had jelly jars.

I wanted to suggest a hardware store too, I have seen them there on occasion

Kat- are you better today? I am worried about you, this has gone on for too long.

Yesterday was a long day but it was nice. Weird because losing Jean should not be joyful and somehow it seemed so right that she was with Bill. They had one of those marriages that you don;t see often, he adored him and she fussed so much over and at him. He thrived on that. Anyway, by choice she always stayed in his shadow so Donny said it was fitting that most of our conversations drifted back to Bill even as we celebrated Jean. They were that intertwined :lovestruc

Dinner was a smoked shoulder with boiled potatoes and carrots. Asparagus and salad as well.

Chris is in town until tomorrow so we hare all having dinner together. Spaghetti with meatballs and sausage, salad, garlic bread and something light for an appetizer, maybe. He likes crusty bread in balsamic vinegar so I may do that but then my dinner will go uneaten :confused3

I am planning to bake an Angel cake for dessert.

Good Morning!

Quick check in...it seems like a I so unorganized lately that I have been chasing my tail.

I hope everyone is doing well. Hugs and good thoughts for everyone.

Kathy, Maria, Aimee: I hope you all are feeling better today. I am worried about you Kat since you have not checked in yet. :grouphug:

Nancy, What a nice love story. I am sorry for your loss...enjoy your dinner today.

Maria, I am game for all the events...I believe everything is still OK with Charlene too.

Not sure about dinner. I think we will get take out. Andrew is going to his Dad's tonight through the weekend...:sad1: so it will be just me and Tom eating.

Have a great day all.

Morning Y'all,

I posted yesterday evening but now it's not there & I can't remember a thing I said! Oh wait I remember some. Everything worked out yesterday! I took the lemons & made lemonade, I went out to lunch with DD, DM, Alexis & my 15yo niece. Then we went to the aquarium! My pre-op appt is today & my hair on Friday. So it all worked out! Now I just need this sore throat that started last night to go away.

Lauren, If Kat doesn't check in, I'm going to call her later this morning! I'm really worried now that you haven't heard from her! :scared:

Aimee, I hope you are feeling better! I know Camp is a big job, but if you're not well, you need to let others take care of things for you. Prayers & hugs!

Maria, I'm praying for you to get over this, NOW! :flower3: Did they ever give you antibiotics? Are you sure you are feeling well enough to handle the F&W adr's? Since Vicki has offered to book Cali Grill maybe you shoul let her handle that one. She can make ressie's first and we'll have a very large group. I would offer to do it all, but I realized last week or so, that my booking day is the day after my surgery. :sad1:

Nancy, I'm glad you are feeling good about Jean. It's nice to hear about truly happy couples! :lovestruc Enjoy visiting with Chris tomorrow!

Lauri, Thinking & praying for you & your MIL. :flower3:

A neighbor friend has offered to take Alexis with her & her daughter to the Children's Museum today, while I'm at the dr's. A doesn't know, I can't wait until she wakes up & I can tell her. She is going to be soo excited!:lovestruc

I hope everyone else is well! We will probably do take out for dinner.

lauren--I feel the exact same way. And my "baby" is almost 4. I just can't seem to get everything together. I'm sure it has nothing to do with my slight addiction to my computer ;)

Kathy--hope you are feeling better today!

Ann--glad to hear that baby Emma is doing so well!

Maria--so sorry you are still so sick! Here's hoping today is a good one for you.

Vickie--woohoo on the FedEx email! And if you get to make ADRs this weekend, that means the trip can't be that far away!!!:banana:October seems so far away, but I guess it's only a bit more than 3 months!

Aimee--sorry you have to deal with discipline issues this weeks. 150 kids! That's a bunch! Good luck today!

I think I'm making Lemon Fusili with Arugula tonight. But that could change at a moment's notice. SIL is flying in today to help with childcare while my parents are on a 3.5 week vacation (I know, nice, right?) And my hubby, instead of getting a high school/college girl to watch the kids 2 afternoons a week, is flying his sis in this week, and his mom next week. I'm kinda like  but if that's what he wants to do and it's not gonna put us in the poor house, so be it!

Okay, gotta get the kids ready for camp! I'm excited I actually get to spend some time by myself at the pool today! Read a book, listen to some tunes. Can't wait!

I'm sorry to make y'all worry, I'm doing better. Not good enough to go to work but better. Janice, I thought like you that yogurt would be OK, that was my mistake yesterday. It just soured my stomach. I just need to watch what I eat for a few days, which is very hard for me as I've always had a cast iron stomach. My co-worker is taking me out to lunch tomorrow to PF Changs, WTH am I gonna do???? Thanks for all the good thoughts, y'all are the best!:grouphug:

Maria & Aimee - hoping y'all are feeling better.

WFD - plain toast....:scared:
