The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Hey friends!

LOOOOVE the pics from the meet and greet - I can tell y'all had a blast!! Those mojitos look divine.

I have a meeting tonight so it's another 12 hour day. When we have this meeting, I always meet 3 other people for dinner prior. Still trying to decide where we'll go - it's my turn to choose.

This is just a quick check in. Work is busy today and this weekend was even busier. My floor isn't down (the guy didn't get to my house until Sunday at 1:00) so my refrigerator is in the middle of my kitchen floor and my table is in the living room, but I guess this too shall pass.

Dad had a really bad weekend. He is now taking the pain meds and had a bad reaction yesterday. He was by himself while Mom ran to the store and decided to take a shower. Long story short, he started to feel faint and barely made it to the bed before his legs gave out. Scared all of us to death. We've now decided he shouldn't be by himself.

I didn't go to help because Hailey is sick. She started to feel puny on Saturday but by yesterday she looked and felt terrible. She drug me from her bed to my bed in a continuous loop all day long so thank heavens the laundry was done on Saturday because I didn't get anything else done at all. Her temp was 101 at the doctor's this morning and they think she may have strep but they don't culture her since she won't sit still for it. So I need to stay away from Mom and Dad for a couple days to make sure I don't have it to pass along to him.

Anyway, I guess I need to get back to work, but I wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. And to print a copy of the emergency list so I could add everyone's contacts into my new phone. Kat I was going to call and check on you, but my stupid internet wouldn't work and your number was in my old phone. Lesson learned. I'll add all of you tonight hopefully.

Any time I have told my mother when I was meeting people from here on the Dis she has told me not to go off alone by myself with them. Haven't met an ax murdered yet!

That line made me chuckle...we are a tough crowd here do you really think we would have accepted you so easily if you did not meet all of that criteria!!!! We all like you for you just remember that!!! I think the beauty of this thread is we are all different and have something to bring to the table.

By any chance does anyone know when Ellen will be leaving WDW? I PM'd and asked her and I am not sure if I got an answer, it keeps telling me I have an unread PM but when I go to it there isn't one there.

I may end up having pizza for dinner instead. I have been wanting Costco pizza forever and they have a coupon out.

Funny you said that the cell phone. I was going to call you this morning before I headed off to my DM. I kept looking to see if you were on line. I thought we should talk before you hear from my DH or I that I am in labor. Great minds think alike. I will call you tomorrow before I head out to my hair appointment around 11:00. Six hours left to today for your prediction to come true, but I think this little girl is very content right now.

I am so freakin lost! I will admit, I am not even going to try and catch up with everyone. I just wish you all the best!

I will have to agree with the others, yesterday was like seeing "old" friends. Not an awkward moment what so ever. We talked and talked and to be honest, I could have sat there and talked for much longer (we were at the retaurant almost 6 hours). We have formed such a strong friendship here it is truly amazing. What a wonderful group of women! I hope we do it again soon!

Kathy, meeting you last November was wonderful! You truly are like my twin...I have never laughed so hard walking out of Narcoosee's...almost pee'd my pants. What the heck were we laughing at? I can't wait to see you again!

Dinner tonight was leftovers for me and cheese plate for the kids. The one benefit to driving 45 minutes to get the skates sharpened is there is an excellent cheese shop nearby. They get bread imported from France daily and their brie is to die for. I ate a huge chunk of it this afternoon. The kids ate the rest tonight.

We ended up at a cool tex mex fusion place near work that the guys hadn't been to yet. Tasty! I just got in and don't feel well; I can't decide if it's just lack of sleep, stress, Crohns, or I'm coming down with something. Hopefully I'll be recovered in the morning.

Hi, everyone. We're having leftover stew and cornbread tonight. I think I've mentioned before it was my favorite at my grandmother's growing up and into adulthood. But only SHE made it. I asked her to come over and walk me through it a few months ago and she did. I can't tell you how good it feels to be able to make a "Mimi dish" all on my own now
