The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Glynis :thumbsup2 Great food porn

Maria Glad your back to your chatty self.

Lauren Might be having internet problems again. Fingers crossed

I called Lauren and left a message on her voice mail. Hopefully I'll hear from her soon, hope it's not her brother.....:sad1:

I sent a text to her cell a few minutes ago:sad2:
She did say that they would be visiting her brother this week. I wonder if that's where she is.....

Glynis, good job! Love the cookies :)

That is what I was worried about. He is so ill. :sad1:

Maria- I agree that just attending the wedding and forgetting all of the drama with the BIL is the best way to go. I used to stress other people's issues and now I just let them go. Marisa says I have perfected not hearing any thing anyone says :confused3 She really does not mean it in a good way but I sure feel better.

Glynis- keep those pics comin!

"Mother Hen" reporting in.....

Lauren is fine, in a bit of a funk (her brother) but just busy with the baby.:goodvibes

I heard from Wendie!!!!! She's had quite a lot going on and wanted me to try and fill everyone in, she feels like it may be too hard to come back. I told her we missed her terribly and she'd better get her butt back here! Her father whom she's had some differences with, I think y'all know what I'm talking about, had a colonoscopy and may have malignancy. She had to pull Ross from his wrestling program, extreme problems with the coach and she feels like her father just "erased" her Mom's memory. I reassured her as best I could but would like to ask for prayers for her and let's all tell her how much we miss her.:grouphug: WE ARE a family here.:thumbsup2

Lauren  I'm glad little T keeps you from getting to down about your brother. It is good to have a little distraction.

Kathy Once again thanks for keeping tabs on all the lost chicks.:thumbsup2 I'll have to drop a lline or two to Wendie

Sorry about the delay. Had to get Alan's birthday cake in the oven. I'm making an orange pound cake a la Paula Deen. Surprisingly, it only called for one stick of butter:confused3

Anyway, on to the shameless posting of pictures of my baby!

Of course Wendie has my prayers. You all do all the time! What a lot to deal with! We are a family, but sometimes I hate it that we are so far-flung! I just want to be there to help out!

Thanks for reporting back on Lauren. Prayers continuing for her brother.

What a wee darling !!

Thanks Kat for the update!

Oh poor Wendie, I wish she could come back to us. Tell her it feels like we're missing a wheel:hug: Prayers for her always.

Glynis he is just beautiful, he is so big so quick!

I'm so glad you're here to keep up with us. I probably should PM a couple of contacts for myself just in case someone needs to track me down at some point

Glynis - that child is just gorgeous! I can't believe how quickly they grow.

Wow...I had quite a bit to read!

Ann -- I'm glad you found a suit you like. I don't like caraway either.

I am cringing about a wedding in the event they decide to marry. What do you do?

Whatever the couple wants. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules anymore (except when seeking a religious ceremony) so if they want a big, traditional ceremony, complete with white dress and many tiered cake...go for it. The only thing that would be unreasonable would be asking her parents to pay for it.

Does anyone know if you can get the old Face Book page back?
 I don't like the new interface either. I hope your medication works.

Robin -- If you haven't read them, I recommend Innocent Traitor by Allison Weir and The Twentieth Wife (I can't remember the author.) Both are historical fiction.

Gretchen -- I've been meaning to ask you, how is your sister doing? Has her family adjusted to CA, and do they like it there?

Sheryl -- Your pictures of Alexis are great. She just shines on camera.

Glynis -- Those shamrock cookies looked so festive. Timothy is such a cutie! Thanks for posting the pictures. Happy Birthday to Alan!

Lindsay -- I did say to Nancy the wedding should be whatever the couple wants, but some have better ideas than others :rolleyes1 You definitely don't need to respond to a FB invite.

Wendie -- If you are reading, please come back. You are a wonderful person, and I miss hearing about your life.

Oops, almost forgot, I spoke with Gretchen earlier, she has a lot going on getting ready for her weekend getaway, she leaves in the morning. So if she doesn't have time to check in that's why.

Glynis, so worth the wait. You have a beautiful family! Thanks for sharing.

DH & I were talking about this the other night. He told me to make sure Kathy had my number so she could fill everyone in when the baby comes.

:grouphug: Wendie & Lauren, prayers for you both!:grouphug:

WFD- DM made pasta with chicken wing cacciatore and salad. Yummy!

Thank God for you Kat! You keep us all together and accounted for. Thanks for letting us know how both Lauren and Wendie are.

Prayers for Wendie! I do hope she finds her way back here, she has way too much to manage and while we are so far away maybe we can help a little.

Happy Birthday Alan!

Glynis, Timothy was worth the wait indeed! When did he get so big? I liked them all but that big smile on St Patrick's Day was my favorite, his eyes just sparkle!

They have not gotten to any wedding plans but they seem very serious. I really never asked about her first marriages, she was terribly nervous and blurted it all out the first time Donny introduced us. I do know that she had a tough childhood, she lived across the street from us when the kids were little and was at my house a lot so I think that mistakes in judgment are understandable. I met her ex and his family and they were all very cordial so whatever happened :confused3

As I told Lindsay, I can understand why a couple would choose a very relaxed atmosphere for a wedding and reception if there was a previous marriage but as a Mother I would like my son to have way more than a Flip Flop affair. (Okay, I would burn the flip flops off his hot little feet is he ever suggested that) I am just worried already and they are not even engaged, you know that there will be something said no matter what they decide and Donny has waited a long time for someone so special in his life so I don't want them hurt.

Lauren- I am so sorry, I came on several times to tell you how much I enjoyed your pictures and then left without telling you how precious your little Thomas is. Also I continue to pray for Charles.

Love the pics, everyone!

For the record, I wouldn't care if The Lovebirds got married in their bathing suits. They've both been married before and don't want a big to-do. It's just the wording of that invite and how it came across redneck. I have decided to ignore the Facebook invitation and just RSVP when the paper one comes. I honestly don't know what I'm going to say if they ask me why I haven't responded on Facebook. Any thoughts?

WFD - Burgers on the grill, sweet potato fries and cole slaw.

Gretchen - have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Wendie - Please come back home!

Lauren - Hoping you have a great day today!
