The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

I am so freakin tired and cannot sleep. I have been in bed surfing the net since I got home. I need to do a couple things so have to get up but Tom is bringing dinner home again...Chinese!

My hip has been really bothering me. I guess Tommy boy is sitting on a nerve or everything is spreading.

Ann, Glad all went well at the doctors. I would switch resorts too to save 1300!

Sheryl, Great news! So glad that all went well with DH and DD's appointment!!!

I am just so tired so don't have it in me to catch up...I hope everyone is well...thank you for all the well wishes!!!! You guys are the best!

All is well with little Emma. Heartbeat was 152, and I am measuring properly.
I had be diabetic screen done but wont know those results for a couple of days. I am up a pound since I got pregnant. I am at 24 weeks.

Check back later.

DH & DD went to the MDA Clinic today. With new genetic information & more of DD/SIL's background the dr. said that there is very little chance of them passing on muscular dystrophy!!!! .00000001 or so chance!!! :dance3:  :yay: The dr. suggested one easy bloodtest for DD & if that's good, NOO WORRIES!!!! :goodvibes

You can't imagine what a relief this is to hear!!! :cloud9:

:cool1:

yup we did it again. We decided to be practical instead of splurging, and we have gone full circle and will resting our heads this trip at CSR again. No more changes to report I promise ... we saved ourselves $1,300 by doing this downgrade. Neither of us have stayed here, so I am still excited.

Ann -- I am so glad little Emma is doing well. You did make me laugh about another resort change, but I don't think you are nuts. You are practical, and right now, that is being smart.

You can't imagine what a relief this is to hear!!! :cloud9:

Sheryl, that is GREAT news.

Lauren -- I hope you manage to get some rest this week. You are going to need your energy once your little guy arrives.

Rest and relax!

My sis always used to say when she was pregnant with her 2nd that is felt like her hip was breaking.

Oh my was my shrimp good! I just took a bottled barbeque sauce, dipped the shrimp in it and broiled it. :cloud9: Gonna try that on the grill, that is when the snow melts off of it. ;)

I had it with orzo that I cooked with artichoke hearts. When they were done I added the lemon caper sauce I got last weekend at Wegmens. It was okay but I really didn't put enough sauce in it.

This is March, right? Which means April is next? And February is OVER?

I get this form in the mail today...in big red letters "Deadline to return: February 15, 2009". If I do not return it, the landlord is required to come visit my apartment to determine if children live in the apartment. Guess I'll have a visitor soon. I'd LIKE to see him actually. :rolleyes1

I can JUST picture this. He comes in, wow you have a lot of Disney stuff...children's books....flash cards...stuffed animals....crayons....WHERE is the child? :lmao:

I didn't get a chance to read all the way through.

I think I have to be out of this apartment by April 30. School ends June 26. Not sure where to go for 2 months. :confused3 (In media terms, this is classified as a "Developing Story...more details to follow as we receive them".)

Geez...I should have gone into reporting. :rotfl:

Good Morning,

We are having the dinner we did not have yesterday...

Have a great day!

PS: I think my Sister is bringing my Mom to visit today. I have missed my Mom so much since I have not been able to make the drive lately.

Have a great visit with your Mom. Lauren, I have been thinking about you a lot lately and keep your family in my heart.

Bethany- there is never a dull moment in your life...:rotfl:

Dinner is the chicken I never cooked yesterday.

I love shrimp like this on the grill... sounds yummy!!! But most food does to me right now!:rotfl:

Enjoy your day with Mom.

This is my brother Peter's favorite meal. My DM use to make it for his birthday.

WFD- going to my parents for dinner tonight.

Hey all! Yesterday was a very busy day. Meeting with Emma's school principal for next year (nothing bad, she just meets with all incoming new families) And then work, where our computers were messing up every 5-10 minutes. Made what should have been an easy night into a terror. Oh well. It's over.

WFD tonight is RR's Christmas Pasta. Never tried it before, but it sounds really yummy. I needed some Romano cheese for this recipe and there wasn't any cut at the cheese counter, so b/c of this recipe I got to make friends with our cheese man b/c he had to cut me a piece special. Could become a very expensive friendship. Love me some good cheese!

Lauren--enjoy the day with your family. Can't wait to see pics of that little bean! Not long now!

scotlass--my ds had really bad issues with constipation for a while. Have you tried Miralax with him? It worked wonders in our house.

Okay, time to get everyone dressed and off to school

Morning Y'all,

I am still feeling very good today with the good news we had yesterday! Plus I think I'm on a steroid high from my injection! My neck feels good too, so it's a happy day in the Shovan house!

I know you said don't laugh, :rotfl: I just can't help it!:goodvibes But what a savings! You can either spend it having fun or much less fun... use it to pay for the trip. bleaaah! ;)

Lauren, Sounds like you are very close to sprouting! Please just rest, cause I know you want Bean's birthday to wait til Saturday! :grouphug: You aren't going to believe this, but I'm stressing about you not being able to check in & chat with us as often when the boy arrives. I know I'm selfish, just going to want minute by minute updates!!! Have fun with your Mom today! Will she or anyone else be staying with you when you return home with Bean?

My roast chicken last night was delicious!! Sorry no pics, but you've all seen chicken & Becky's food is always the prettiest! My Mom dropped by yesterday afternoon & Chris & A were still here, so dinner was running late.
I marinated the bird in evoo, lemon juice, chicken broth, dried rosemary & thyme & Paul Prudomme's seasoning. Roasted it on the rack in the pan with broth poured in the bottom. It came out so juicy! We had a mushroom brown/rice pilaf & leftover spinach gratin. I made the gravy in the roasting pan, with a splash of white wine & cream. So good! I have plenty left & DH didn't need lunch today. But I think I still turn most of it into the potpie I've been promising Bob. I just can't make up my mind on how to do it. Surefire way, with puff pastry top, double layer pie crust ??? We'll see!

Lauren -- Enjoy your day!

The kids want to have tacos for dinner tonight. Their idea of a taco is lettuce, shredded carrots and cheese. Liam says he wants black beans in his too. This doesn't sound appealing to me, so I will make myself something else.

Hey all, not sure if Mom and sis are coming. My sister is not sure she can get my Mom out of the house...

I just got an update on my brother. He has started Chemo here at a cancer center in NJ and hopefully that will help a bit. The cancer is also in his colon...not good. Thank you for your prayers he can really use continued one.

*********
OK, I have a question...

Andrew wants to bring Brownies to school for his bday. I cannot believe they can do this since for holiday parties it has to be all healthy stuff. Anyway, I was thinking of an easy way to bake them and I was thinking of doing them in cupcake papers.

Have any of you done this? Do I need to do anything different than if I were using cake batter? Spray the paper?

TIA!
