The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Hi All,

Kat, thanks so much for keeping all our ducks in a row. I was thinking this morning that maybe we should put together a little emergency list for whoever wants to participate. I'm a worrier so these are the things that pop into my head.

Beck that cod & mussel stew looks amazing! Tomorrow we're going to have mussels fra diavlo (sp) for "fish Friday".

Sheryl, great news about the most recent MRI, you all continue to be in my prayers.
We only eat steel cut oats.....tried them & never went back.

Glynis~ chicken w/berries????? mmmmmmmmm

Does anyone else buy there tomato paste in a tube??? I love how much flavor & color it gives everything. Last night was left over low carb pasta with some chicken sausage. I made a little sauce with the tomato paste, cooked it for a few minutes in the skillet to get the raw flavor out, some fresh herbs, little olive oil & grated romano. Tasty way to get rid of left over pasta.

Welcome:goodvibes POOH!

Lauren as long as your ok that's all that matters.

My belly looks like a road map of the Grand Canyon & I never had a baby...between the hysterectomy, the 8 surgeries to get pregnant it's far from pretty. So glad I don't have to worry about a bikini :rotfl:

Yup. Dried cranberries. Yummo!

My belly looks about the same! Stretch marks, incision scars from 2 c-sections and 2 other surgeries. No bikini here, either!

Hello all!

we are having baked ziti w/sausage and a salad.

Glad to see we have some new friends.:yay:

No bikini here either there would be a mass exit for the border  With so much fabric I don't think I could get away with calling it a bikini :sad2:

Ladies, I forgot to tell y'all, they didn't find anything in DD's MRI of her neck. (Well nothing that needs surgery now.)

Great news!! She deserves some happy news with the job mess she is dealing with now.

How do you make your pork schnitzel?

It is just a very thin pork cutlet. I do flour, egg, and bread crumbs then fry.
So easy and yummy. Serve with a basic brown gravy, we like mushrooms in ours.

The Fra Diavlo sounds wonderful...I use to waitress at a seafood place that made this!! CRAVING alert now.

Funny you mentioned the tomato paste in the tube. I was watch Giada today at my DM's and she used some in braised shortribs. I thought I need to pick some up to keep in the fridge.

No bikini for me either, I showed you all the mumu style I wear pregnant or not.

Being a worry wart shows me you are very thoughtful!

I have been looking for tomato paste in a tube a I can't find it. I know i saw it somewhere but where?:confused3

Wish me luck!

LUCK! Glynis, I really don't know how you do it. Liam told me today that he needs an Abraham Lincoln costume for a presentation next week and I nearly lost it. If he had told me Monday night (he needs it Tuesday), one of you may have found a very large package on your doorstep.

It makes me mad that they are requiring a costume anyway. It is just a complete waste of money and time.

I do when I think of it. :thumbsup2

Count me in the never wearing a bikini crowd.

Well, I didn't make the chicken tonight. I wasn't in the mood. I had a meatball and a little pasta, but mostly this antipasto salad:

Hey y'all, I almost forgot to mention, our dear friend lucas, had to let her 16 1/2 yr old dog and loving companion go to doggie heaven yesterday. This was her and her DH's baby. Prayers for them please.:grouphug:

Lucas, so sorry to hear about the loss of your furbaby. :grouphug: We went through this 13 weeks ago, and it still hurts. Hugs to you both it is not easy.

My version of Sheperd's Pie turned out pretty good! I boiled carrots (only cause I wanted big chunks and was afraid they wouldn't cook enough), sauted mushrooms and onions together then added the carrots, some peas and a can of beef. Added in some more beef broth, basil, paprika, salt and pepper, then thickened it up with a little cornstarch and water.

Made instant mashed potatoes(out of real) and added sour cream, ff half and half, butter, sour cream, cheese, salt and pepper. Put the beef mixture in a baking dish, topped it with potatoes, baked it for a while, added cheese to the top and cooked til melted.

I have been following this thread for along time but I don't post.Tonight I am making the delicious looking Stuffed Chicken Florentine from Shovan. It looks so good I had to try it and my husband has been losing weight so I have been cooking healthier for all of us-I am running out of ideas for chicken already(I don't eat fish).I wanted to say thanks for the great recipes!:thumbsup2

Welcome! Stick around and post some more!

Ladies, I forgot to tell y'all, they didn't find anything in DD's MRI of her neck. (Well nothing that needs surgery now.) So she is going to have the surgery on the disc in the lower back. Scheduled April 3rd, one day surgery with about 2 weeks recovery. So that sounds pretty good. She might as well get it overwith while she still has the same insurance coverage & isn't working.

Yay! Glad they didn't find anything and glad she is going to be able to get the surgery done. I hope it is helpful for her.

So I got my official transcripts today; now I need to submit them to a couple of places with corresponding paperwork.

We had parent-teacher conferences today and I worked 8-8. I'm tired but at least tomorrow is Friday!
