The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

I am sorry Kyle had a rough outing, but that always happens when players move up to a higher level. He is a smart guy...he will learn and he will figure out how to get the college players out. For now, he has Mariah to soothe his wounds. ;)

He just reminded me to tell y'all this. There was a player on Pensacola's team named Derek Jeter, I'm not kidding. Kyle struck him out and is telling everyone that he struck out "Derek Jeter"...

:lmao: :rotfl:

For dinner we had tacos AGAIN. Ate the last of the leftovers.

I've been awake for several hours now! This has got to be some sort of record! :rotfl:

Anybody notice they moved the smilies back to how they were before?

The Oct. meet and eat sounds like great fun but not in the cards for me. I just booked one of the new Treehouses at SSR for January this weekend, not leaving us many points to play around with. That coupled with our house repair, means only one trip to WDW for us this year. Poor me!

Oooh, I'd love to stay at the treehouses. How neat!

I heard from Greg today. He is doing well, but he has been recycled. He did not pass one of the physical exams (he had to do 47 push-ups...he did 75, but they only counted 45  ) so he is training for a couple of weeks, and his new class starts March 1. He is happy because he figures it will be warmer by then, but not hot.

Darn. I'm sorry.

I got one of the Universal tickets they were giving away so we are talking about trying to get down before 12/09 but it'll all depend on DH's job (or lack thereof). Can't commit to any trips yet.

Congrats on the tickets!!

Dinner (Part 2)...I'm HUNGRY right now....is oatmeal. I don't even like oatmeal that much. But I'm hungry. :confused3 Then I'm going to sleep...I'm fading FAST over here!

Hello ladies. Lots to catch up on. Haven't done much since I got home yesterday afternoon, feeling really tired out.

Good Morning! Early appointment for a growth ultrasound today so I will catch up later...

We are having my baby's fav today: sausage, shells and peas and salad and some italian bread.

Have a great day all!

Hi,
Kathy, the season is young! Congrats to your boy on striking out Jeter:cheer2: . Glad he has a nice girl to be there for him. You are braver than me, I have never tried onion rings.

Laura, sorry about Greg. Wish him well on the remainder of his training.

Becky, welcome back. Looking forward to trip details.

Lauren, good luck at the doctor.

The WFD meet is not going to be in our cards this year either.

No real cooking for me today. I will just bemaking my DH some sandwiches for work. I maybe heading over to my parents.

Ann

Well, so much for my hopes for spring arriving early! I woke up this morning to about 6 inches of new snow!:scared1: I'm so tired of this white stuff! It's supposed to snow off and on all day long. I was going to try to get to the library this morning, but I think I'll put it off for a couple of days!

Dinner tonight will be stroganoff sandwiches. I have everything except buns, and I'm hoping for a lull in the storm that will allow me to get to the store quickly. Keep your fingers crossed.

Welcome back, can't wait to hear about your trip!

WFD - Beans & rice, grilled sausages and a chopped salad.

 Awesome! :thumbsup2

Welcome back, Marilyn.

Tonight is our long skating night, so dinner will be leftovers from yesterday for me and probably sandwiches for the kids.

Hi Laura, For the cupcakes with the pumpkin, no one has ever noticed it was in there. But in Kady's class they all ask for the cupcakes Kady's mom makes. I dont make anything good, but these i guess i do!:rotfl2:

I have not a clue WFD tonight. One thing I hate about coming home is that I now have to be responsible for actually cooking the food as well as deciding what I am going to eat. :headache:

The trip went well, those of you on FB heard about the gorilla incident. :scared1::sick: Did a few things we haven't done before, saw two of the countries movies and watched the Chinese acrobat ladies at Epcot. Also got to FINALLY ride Spaceship Earth. I haven't ridden it in since they did the rehab on it. Pretty cool but I should have recorded the ending rather than trying to take pictures.

I have got to get the computer situation worked out, :headache: have lots of food pics to share.

Morning Y'all,
I missed so much yesterday, I'll try to keep up!

Sheryl, I am sorry you had a rough time with the MRI...it is so damn hard to sit still in those things never mind being so closed in. I have only had one and it was on my foot so and I was a little freaked so I could only imagine what you must have felt like. I did not get the email or PM you sent. I will maybe just order that for her next time. I think I am needing a better eye cream. I noticed lots of wrinkles in the hospital mirror the other day! Have a great day all! It is very warm here and all the snow and ice are melting...what a mess of mud in the yard...yuck!

I'll pm you (or email if your box is full) about the eye cream. You shouldn't feel sorry for me on the MRI, you've had enough tests & dr appts lately to cover us all for a year!! ;)

Thank you!

I only see you and Sheryl on there. I want to see when everyone else from WFD is going. Do you think we get our own list together? I want to try and see everyone from here...

So far we have:

Tiger Kat ... October 17th - October 21st (Beach Club Villas)
Shovan ... October 15th - October 22nd (Beach Club Villas)

So I am thinking maybe for me the 16th - 19th...??? and we can meet up on the 17th or 18th.

So far we have WFDT Food & Wine Meet:

Tiger Kat ... October 17th - October 21st (Beach Club Villas)
Shovan ... October 15th - October 22nd (Beach Club Villas)
FormrCastMbr..October 26th - October 19th? (??)

Yoohooo Friends! Who else is ready to put down a date? :goodvibes

Nan, Kady's school sounds so compassionate. As you know, Alexis's school is not nearly as good. This is a paid tuition Catholic school & they don't even have a school nurse!

Prayers being said for Buddy & the family. :sad1: :grouphug:

Hope you are feeling better! Congrats on the treehouse! I didn't realize they would be ready so soon!! The new treehouses sound like they are going to be awesome! I'm happy for you, just wish you could come with us!

Becky is back. I don't know when she'll be checking in, but she has a lot of cool stories and lots of pictures. They had a great time. Dinner today was roast chicken, cauliflower gratin, roasted butternut squash, asparagus and eggplant sticks. Becky was vegetable-deprived during vacation.

I heard from Greg today. He is doing well, but he has been recycled. He did not pass one of the physical exams (he had to do 47 push-ups...he did 75, but they only counted 45  ) so he is training for a couple of weeks, and his new class starts March 1. Welcom Home Becky! Your dinner sounds delish! I still haven't picked up a whole chicken to roast & then make the potpies. The prices at WF's blew me away. I'll have to go find a different all natural one at Winn Dixie.

I'm sorry for Greg! I dont understand how he could do 75 pushups & only have 45 counted. Hopefully the warmer temps will help him & he'll do even better! Prayers for him!

Unfortunately his time came today and he got a big "Welcome to college ball little freshman"...he only lasted one inning and gave up two home runs. The good news is that PJC was just smashing the ball today, none of our pitchers did well at all. The other freshman who pitched also gave up two home runs. It will be a day he won't soon forget, who am I kidding? Mariah is here making him feel better right now.....;) :rotfl:

Ooohh, to be young! :lovestruc Glad they have him off the bench already! I know he wasn't happy with the outcome. But isn't it good that he is already being put in the game?

He just reminded me to tell y'all this. There was a player on Pensacola's team named Derek Jeter, I'm not kidding. Kyle struck him out and is telling everyone that he struck out "Derek Jeter"...

See, his Aunt's knew how good he was!!! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Maria, I hope you start feeling better soon!!! :grouphug:

Janice, I hope you're bouncing back from the migraine!

Marilyn, Welcome home!

So there is a silver lining? :lmao::lmao:Seriously, as Laura said he just needs time to figure out how to get them out. It will come around.

Janice -- It was a big class, so they dumped a lot of people right at the outset. At least Greg was given another chance. 115 guys failed, and only 19 were invited to stick around for the next class...Greg was one of them. He really wanted to do some pre-Ranger training anyway, so he is getting that now.

Sound like he is doing what he wants and is good at it. It is nice to know that others see that too.

Hello ladies. Lots to catch up on. Haven't done much since I got home yesterday afternoon, feeling really tired out.

Welcome Home! Get some rest and then come on back and tell us all about your trip

My Gram's 95th b-day party was perfect, she was thrilled. My bf and I went to see her today and she was a bit confused on things and very tired from yesterday.
I'm happy to know she had a good time. I assume the confusion is because she is tired. My Aunt is always a little confused when she gets tired.

Hi, everyone! I survived the 10 kids!!!! It actually wasn't too bad. We only had a couple of instances of bad behavior, but otherwise things went well.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 With ten kids and a pool in sight I might have been tempted to drown one or two :upsidedow

Afternoon all! See, it only toDS was really sick the beginning of the week, then had to babysit our installer for our new tv service, and now I"m not feeling well. !

I hope it passes by fast! I am jealous of the SSR treehouses. We passed them several times and they look so cute out there.

Dinner is cabbage roll casserole. I have kielbasa for Buddy if he hates it too much.

Anyone ever fix Salmon with lentils? I'm thinking about trying that tonight. Last time I was looking for something to do with lentils, salmon kept popping up! Is that a great combo that I didn't know about. Ina Garten has a recipe I could try.

me again!:headache:

Nancy, Please post that cabbage roll casserole recipe! Is it WW friendly?

I forgot to tell you about Chocolate Sunday! You aren't even going to believe I said this, I can't believe I'm saying it but It was actually too much chocolate & too much alcohol!!! I know! We were all disappointed in ourselves. It was from 3-5, by 3:45 we had sugar overload & our brains were feeling foggy! We did rest have coffee, tea & go back for a little more. I was somewhat disappointed in the liquor offerings. They only had one wine vendor & one champagne vendor. Almost all of the rest, was different types of chocolate mixed drink concoctions. Lots of versions of chocolatini's. Don't get me wrong I like that, but in 2 hrs how much can you possibly drink? We'd get them taste it & toss it! :sad2: We did all have a good time though. I went with DD, Chris, my other SisIL Aimee & her sister. We call it a Shovan Girl's outing & we are planning more. The next one is going to be a formal tea with the little Shovan girls!

Fly by... leaving for a lunch meeting, followed by a long staff planning meeting, followed by dinner meeting. No idea where or what we're having but I know food is involved that I'm not cooking, which is fine by me!

I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around this....maybe I need to tag along next year and experience it myself.;)

I KNOW! It's sad isn't it! I really couldn't believe it myself! They only served one actual non dessert item & I enjoyed that for a break. It was a tuna ceviche dish from La Cote Brasserie. Yum, but my Sis IL & her sis would only take a small taste.

It was rich chocolate, after rich chocolate of every kind. Truffles, cupcakes, bread puddings, cakes, you name it. I think the ones I enjoyed the most was Zapp's New Voodoo Gumbo Chips dipped in dark chocolate & a Raspberry gelato with a chocolate zinfadel sauce! But I just kept looking for the Rosa to go with that!
