The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Robin- Happy Anniversary!

Glynis- What a week! Hope you are all feeling better soon

Kat- sounds like DH....Soup? That's it, Soup? :confused3

Ann- I hope your cold clears up fast!

Dinner is leftover chicken with gravy, stuffing and a veggie. Marisa and I can have quinoa with dinner

I thought Kris was really good & I agree with Kat. I liked the red-headed girl & the eyeliner boy too.

Robin, Thanks! That garlic bread was really good. I used french bread & topped it with fresh minced garlic, melted butter, olive oil, dried oregano & fresh parsley. Black pepper & fresh grated parmesan and put it under the broiler a few minutes. The good olive oil really made a difference.

I've got to go figure out what's for dinner.

I think this year the easter bunny might bring a new bike.

Ooh...maybe the Easter Bunny will bring Caili a new bike too.

Oh, Glynis, I meant to say that I am sorry you are all having a bad week. Those stomach bugs are so hard to prevent from spreading. I hope everyone is well soon!

I agree with all of you on the Idol contestants...Adam (eyeliner boy) and Allison (red-haired girl) are in. I think the third spot is between Kris and Meghan (the girl who sang Put Your Records On). Even if Kris does not get in tonight, I am sure he will be selected to participate in Wild Card week.

I changed my menu. I am going to have the fish dish tomorrow, and I am making lamb chops, cauliflower gratin, and broccoli rabe tonight. The kids won't eat the gratin or the rabe, so I think I'll make them some rice and a boring, acceptable vegetable.

Exactly how is the wild card week going to work?

Glynis, I also meant to tell you that I'm sorry so many of you are sick! Sounds miserable. :sad1:

The dr. my sonIL recommended for a 2nd opinion won't see me without a dr's referral! Like I want to call my neuro for a 2nd opinion referral. I'm mad.

Glynis - I'm sorry as well, I missed that. Hope everyone gets well soon.

Sheryl - I wouldn't hesitate to ask him for a referral, he should understand that you have to do this.

Sheryl- I agree with Kat, ask him for the referral. I would bet that you are not the first person to seek another opinion on such a serious matter.

Try to get one from your primary Dr.

I am soooooo tired. Schools closed early today and I had to work at a program. Already had a headache, add to that very noisy children and I am pooped! :headache: Tomorrow schools are closed and I have to be here at 7, think I will watch ER in bed tonight.

Speaking of watching TV in bed. Usually I will watch for a little while before I go to sleep. The last week there has been "infomercials" about the digital change over thingy on two of the channels every single night for HOURS!!!!!! I am really peaved because there are usually some really good shows on:mad: I don't have cable or anything hooked up in there and so I only get about 5 good channels. :headache:

Hey y'all I found out I can get a referral from the pain dr. I'm seeing them tomorrow. So that's what I'll do.

I'm happy to report that after a 3 hour nap, Mary seems to be on the upswing. No more vomiting, and she is hungry. I keep telling her we're going to be gentle to her tummy, but she wants spaghettios. I said no! Maybe chicken noodle soup later. Right now, she has to be satisfied with saltines and caffeine free coke. It's a good thing she's my easy sickie!

I didn't have a chance to get caught up...I have been busy all day and going back out to the mall to get A some new sneakers and now jeans. The ones he has are beginning to look like floods.

Happy Anniversary Robin!!!

Glynis, Sorry everyone has been under the weather. Glad to hear Mary is feeling better.

Sheryl, good news that you can get a ref tomorrow.

I wanted to say something else but can't remember...

I voted for Kris about 10 xs...we thought he was one of the best. I really do not like the format of the show this year.

I got alot of baby stuff in the mail today. The crib set is just gorgeous!!! I cannot wait to get it all together to show you guys. The color in the bedding matches the paint perfectly.

We also put together the changing dresser and it is absolutely beautiful!!! I LOVE it! I ordered 8" painted letters to hang over the crib spelling the baby's name...they came yesterday and I love them too. I am getting really excited!!! :goodvibes As soon as we get it all assembled I will show you all.

I hope everyone is doing well. Have a great night. Oh, I have been feeling better. That sinus concoction really did the trick!

I am getting so tired of all of the infomercials for the changeover. Can you add a box or a line into your room. We don;t need to pay extra to add a set and I know I like TV in bed.

Get some rest tonight.

I can't wait to see your baby's things. When you start putting the room together and adding all those little clothes you know how soon the little one will be joining you :cloud9:

Dinner was good. I heated up the caramelized chicken in it's own sauce and added gravy, served with salad, stuffing and green beans.

My sister is coming to scrap with Marisa tomorrow. She already has a lot of her stuff out and ready to go. I will bring another table in so that they have plenty of room. We are trying to get Welby to join them for a while, they will get her hooked.

I think Gail is bringing a quiche, an I am making egg and cheese sandwiches on light English muffins for breakfast. I have a lovely edible arrangement that was delivered today and that will be midmorning snacks. Lunch will be a homemade veggie soup and dinner is a refried bean pie and a veggie chili. I may make a tuna casserole for Buddy because he won't eat any of this and all I have besides eggs id chicken. Cannot have that tomorrow.

Maria- what a lovely hotel! You are going to have a wonderful time. How did I miss that you were going to Portugal?

I'll probably have basic cable put in later on. Right now I have to get the storage part of the family room cleaned out so they can come in an put it in.

Had chicken strips for dinner again! :sad2: Tomorrow night might be something out. Only allowed to eat out on payday for Lent, trying to cut down on the fast food.

Hey...

You will love Lisbon,it is beautiful.

The Boy tells me at bed time its dress down day at school tomorrow and the theme is Hobbies.

He wants to wear his Karate suit and it in the wash....:headache:

I had to wash dry and iron it.

Its nearly 1am and i can finally go to bed....dont ye just love the little blighters !!

Night x

Exactly how is the wild card week going to work?

They haven't done it in a while, but I think the judges are going to pick 12 contestants of those eliminated and let them compete for the final three spots.

I kind of like the new (but kind of old) format, Lauren. I like how the male/female ratio does not have to be equal for the Top 12, and I like it that people like Norman Gentle won't get weeks worth of air time to build a cult following (I did think he was really funny...but is a waste of an Idol spot.)

Oh, and Lauren, you shouldn't worry too much about the floods. Andrew would fit in fine around here. I have been in the schools the past couple of days, and almost all the kids have short pants. The parents can't do anything about it because the stores are now carrying spring stuff. Caili had her sock showing today...very chic.

Sheryl -- I am glad you are able to get your referral.

Glynis -- My kids always want to eat a seven-course meal once they feel better. It's never a good idea! I am Mary has her appetite back though.

Yeah....something like that ;)

:) I told Marisa that Kady looked like a hobo....short pants and socks look :dance3:She tried to buy her new jeans but they are to big when they fit to her ankles and that looks silly too. She is hoping they can hold out til shorts and capris are okay to wear....the child is outgrowing everything!
