The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Nancy--I am so sorry for the loss of your Aunt......I am, as always, impressed with your way with words.

:flower3:Hey friends....:grouphug:

Hey lady! You've been missed around here. :goodvibes

Sheryl I am hoping you are hanging in there.

I am trying to keep up but I am not doing a great job it was a very loooong week. It is a beautiful day here it is in the low 80's. Pretty unusual for this time of year but I like it.:yay:

I'm hanging in! ;) Sorry you've had a loooong week. Hopefully you're nice weather will hang around for a nice weekend. :goodvibes

Hi Girls......feeling better, thanks for all your thoughts & prayers on here as well as FB. The power of prayer still amazes me. Your support & staying power overwhelms me:grouphug:

I smashed my face this morning which has left it pounding all day but just took plain Tylenol. All in all I'm surprised at how easy this recovery has been. I'm going to have to use some self control this weekend, with the warm weather it's going to be tough not to go out & do some planting & weeding but I'm still not allowed to lean over.

Glynis, dinner sounds cool......
Lauren, have a great time:banana:
Ellen good luck with the walk, hope you have beautiful weather.
Lindsay any updates on Jan?
Vickie, hope you are feeling some relief:hug:
WENDIE!!!!!! So glad to see you!

Wendie--hi right back at ya! :)

Nancy-- so sorry for your loss. Lots of hugs and prayers.

Ellen--even if you do happen to be last (which i'm sure you won't be) it takes courage to get out there, to get to the starting line. You'll be awesome!

Sheryl-- your fair food sounds way better than ours. I need to head to a fair in nola!

Ok, Scott should be home any minute. Need to get the kids ready to go!

I hate that. ... My parents just keep a spare tank.

Hey y'all,

Ann, I have 2 tanks. A while back I still somehow managed to run out of propane with dinner on the grill.:sad2:

Sadly enough we have a spare, but neglected to refill the first one when it ran out. :headache: That will teach me a lesson!!!

Just flying by, I'll stop back later.

My Aunt passed on last night. :sad1: I am meeting my cousin at the funeral home to discuss the arrangements but the funeral is Tuesday, it was the earliest that everything could be coordinated. Thank you for all of the prayers, she is back home now and Heaven is a little louder now that one more sister has joined the group.

Nancy, so sorry to hear about your family's loss. Maybe she be at peace. :grouphug:

:flower3:Hey friends....:grouphug:

Hey there stranger...so nice to see you!! :flower3:

I'm going to have to use some self control this weekend, with the warm weather it's going to be tough not to go out & do some planting & weeding but I'm still not allowed to lean over.

You better have some self control or else!!! Sit in a nice relaxing lawn chair and chat with Greg while you direct him where the weeds are :rotfl:.
I know he is taking great care of you, so relax and enjoy the pampering!

WFD- Mom made corn chowder and we had subway veggie delite sandwiches to go with it...because that was what I was craving!

Had grilled chicken and oven fries for dinner.

I am soooooo frustrated! I had to hook the old computer back up. I had my mother come and look at the new one and she said call Comcast and have them check the connection but that is not the whole problem! I cannot open half of the stuff on the computer and that has nothing to do with the internet! I am wondering if she removed something from the computer before she gave it to me and it has screwed something up.

The news wasn't good. The leukemia is still there. Right now they are saying they are going to work on building up her immune system, sending her some for a litte while, and then proceeding to do a bone marrow transplant.

We are still going out with Kevin and Amanda tonight. I ended up getting them the Rosa Regale and put it in a pretty bag, and made them a 2-layer red velvet cake.

Leukemia is a tough egg to crack. I hope she gets her immune system boosted quickly.

Your gift sounds perfect :thumbsup2

Merle I hate computer problems. Does your Mom know about computer or is she like me click here and there and ooops :scared1:

Ann I hope you got to refill the tank so you don't do a me, forget and try to light it and think why it is not starting :rotfl:

Today is going to be busy. I have to get the rest of my yard work done before we get another round of rain. By the way who need rain we have had more than our far share here?

Tomorrow we go into the city to see the Harry Potter exhibit at the Science and Industry museum. I'm excited Alex seems so so. I hope he gets into it. He has been a perfect teen lately I may feed to one of the characters there.

Lindsay--so sorry to hear that the leukemia is still there. Sending more prayers her way!

Ellen--hope the race went well today!

Today is a busy one for us. We are headed to Disney on Ice in a couple of hours. The funny thing is I told the kids we were going to see Mickey and Minnie this weekend, and my son wanted to know what time we were going to the airport. :rotfl: Think they've been to WDW a time or two?;) And then after that, we have a cookout/get together for some friends of ours who moved away and are back for the weekend. Should be fun. I'm bringing a black bean and corn salad, and some sort of dessert (embaressingly will probably be store bought ;)) Okay, need to go hop in the shower. Have a great Saturday all!

Computer problems can be so frustrating, hope yours are resolved quickly.

Ellen- Thank goodness Eugene is back out of surgery and is okay. Prayers for his health  BTW-----I am with him on the underwear thing. His eyes were nowhere nextdoor to his unders!

Hugs to you, Nancy. However, I know that your aunt is happier where she is. Bless her heart!

Well, the Peruvian restaurant was only so-so. I was expecting more spice, but the food I had was really bland! We did order a drink that was pretty good. I can't remember the name of it, but it was made with purple corn, pineapple juice, apple juice, lime juice, and cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. It was really interesting!

After dinner, we went to a dessert place called Dippidee and got some dessert. Alan got a carrot cake cupcake that was as big as Timothy's head, I got a chocolate covered strawberry, and we took home a HUGE Orange Dreamsicle cupcake for the kids.

Not sure what's on tap for today. Alan's got the kids at work in the backyard, prepping the garden area. When they get that done, we'll go to Cabela's to watch the fish being fed. I'm not sure what we'll do for dinner. Maybe soup and sammies.

This afternoon, I get to take Katie to try on swim suits. Hers is beyond tiny on her! It will be good to spend some quality time with her.

For now, I'm off to try another wheat bread recipe. Got to find one we all like!

Dinner last night was a burger and fries at the XL center. We had tickets to see Springsteen. Buddy wante dto hit a steakhouse but he worked late and I did not get in from my cousin's until 5:30 so it was fast food for us with a glass or two of wine.

Dinner tonight is out at the lake. Buddy is not in the mood but I have gotten not one thing done yet, and since I am here :surfweb:, it's not looking good so I'm dragging him out. This little restaurant is open now and serving light meals and have a band on the deck so I just want to have a glass of wine and look at the water.

I really want to thank you all for your well wishes, prayers and hugs. I still have not been able to figure out how all of you mean so much to me and honestly stopped question that. It is enough to know that you are all in my heart as well. Auntie Angie was a killer cook and baker and we had numerous chats about all of you and what you were cooking. Her favorite was the warm winter lemon cake, I made it for her often.

Vickie, I'm glad your home, please feel better:hug: I wish we lived close we could watch girly movies!

I'm still in my pjs and bored to tears...tomorrow I will head out to a lawn chair. Uncomfortable today, hopefully better tomorrow.
