Lauren, we are all crying right along with you. None of us can ease your pain but we are all here in your time of need. You have been on my mind since receiving Kathy's news. Hugs to you and your family.

It seems so small but I was back at the ENT today to review my CT scan...bottom line surgery April 21st.
OK, I'm getting sappy here, I'll stop now.

Update - Lauren is drained and tired, who wouldn't be. Supposedly he will be taken off the vent this evening. I know from personal experience how difficult and painful that decision is and I am sure Nancy (his wife) is second guessing every thing she is thinking today.
Ann - Lauren has been my rock when I needed support and prayers.
I'm waiting for a nice warm day and I'm going to make "antipasto pasta." Just a pasta salad with antipasto ingredients, I'm just pleased with myself over the witty name.
Aimee, Good luck with the paella. Let us know how it turns out. I'm not very good with "all in one" rice dishes, not even jambalaya.

Ann - Lauren has been my rock when I needed support and prayers. It's amazing how close Lauren & I became without even meeting in person. We are best friends in every sense of the word, we even call each other "twin". It's scary how alike we are and when we finally met this past November our husbands both said it seemed like we'd known each other all of our lives. Having no family makes my friends my family which includes ALL of you here on this thread. OK, I'm getting sappy here, I'll stop now.
Lauren just called and her brother has passed. She sounded at peace.

I'm sorry you aren't any closer together. I know what it's like to be seperated by distance from your very best friend and it's hard. Esp in times like this.
