They have applied for a permit to protest Saturday June 18th at 10:15 am to Sunday June 19th at 1:30am.

The permit is for 130 North Magnolia Avenue in Orlando

These are the folks that have made a name protesting gay funerals and such. (again...Google them)

If you are in the area...PEACEFULLY show them that love is stronger than hate.

Please remember to not get physical in any way with these people. They will try to bait you into it, but they are all lawyers and then sue.

That being said, I really hope the biker groups that often show up to block the mourning's view of the protestors come. The deserve to be able to mourn in peace.

They are a disgrace to Christianity. So wish we were still in town on vacation, as I would be there. I am sure they will be greatly outnumbered by those who not only support the victims but also understand that Jesus most certainly did not discriminate and was all about love.

Fully agree - and Jesus actually made a point of reaching out to individuals shunned by the establishment

I have a feeling, if they actually show up, this really, really won't end well. They've been known to no-show after making bold statements about where they'd be, and I truly hope they do so with this.

About 10 years or so ago my husband played taps at a military funeral for a young man killed in Iraq. Westboro showed up. So did bikers who lined the streets and kept the family from having to see the disgraceful and disgusting signs they were holding. They are an awful group of opportunists.

So they have a permit to protest at a church downtown. So where will they be, crammed on the sidewalk? between the church property and the street. Surely they won't let them shut down a road.

Maybe for their protection the city should put up barricades to put them in .... you know 6-8 ft tall ones or maybe a good day to drain a hydrant or two.

They tried that somewhere around here recently. They ended up going home because there were three times as many pro-gay signs and people that they couldn't be seen. No one touched them or did anything except stand near them, in front of them, behind them, beside them with colorful and fun signs. Some were about LGBT rights. Some were #lovewins. Some had arrows pointing to someone in the Westboro group that said "I'm NOT with stupid.". They TRIED to sue...but the judge said that First Amendment applies to everyone and to get out.

OMG I have never heard of these "people". When I googled and saw the name of their website, I feel like purchasing a plane ticket just to be there to show them how horrible they are. I know that they don't have the approval of the Almighty like they think they do.

I grew to know about Westboro Baptist Church and the horrendous protests that they hold from a play I read in a college English class called The Laramie Project. To shield Matthew Shepherd's family from the protesters, activists made these huge angel wings and stood in front of the church followers. Maybe people in the Orlando area would do the same thing.
