I've never done one of these before although I love reading others, so bear with me as I venture into unfamiliar territory...

Who:

There are 12 of us. We generally go every 3 years and generally the first week of June (as it is our parents anniversary). Our last trip was in 2008. We had planned to go last year, but due to health problems and finances, we were unable to go.

The Cast of Characters:

Me - I'm the Dana of dananbethany. I'm 38 and Eeyore-shaped.

Bethany - my daughter. She's the Bethany of dananbethany. She's 16 and her favorite Disney movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Nana - The matriarch of the family. She is married to Papa, the patriarch of the family. (Neat how that works out, eh?) They will celebrate their 41st anniversary while we are vacationing.

KK and JJ - My sister and BIL. When we were growing up, our father used to say that KK could run a small South American country so she's the planner of the group. JJ is in the military and we appreciate all he does for us (especially the discounts!)

Buzz and Badger - KK and JJ's children. Buzz is our resident pirate and Toy Story expert (therefore, his nickname). He is 13 and has Asperger's. Badger is 12 and she loves to make videos! Her nickname comes from the fact they live in Wisconsin.

Unkie and Red - My brother and SIL. Unkie (as he is called by the kids) has back problems but he doesn't let that slow him down! Red is a redhead.

Toast and Tambo - Toast is 9 years old and is hilarious. She got her nickname from Badger. We never quite understood how she acquired it. Tambo is a 5 year old bundle of energy. His nickname comes from how he pronounces his middle name.

KK, JJ, Buzz, and Badger live in Wisconsin. The rest of us live in SC.

When:

June 2 to 8, 2012.

Where:

We will be staying at All Stars Sports. In the past, we used to camp, but once we stayed at All Stars Movies in 2005, we decided that we enjoyed staying on Disney property much better! In 2008, we stayed at Pop Century.

Stay tuned - I'll add our itinerary and other pertinent information as it becomes available!

You'll be there the week before us! Can't wait to read more about your plans for your large group!

Joining in!:goodvibes Love the title of your report! Sounds like it's going to be a great trip! Can't wait to hear more!:thumbsup2

The Itinerary:

Friday, June 1: The Wisconsinites (JJ, KK, Buzz, and Badger) leave Wisconsin. :moped:

Saturday, June 2: The South Carolinaites (everyone else) leaves South Carolina. :dance3:

Later in the day, we will all meet up at All Stars Sports.

Sunday, June 3: Unkie, Papa, and Bethany are big Star Wars fans. I'm only a Star Wars fan if Harrison Ford is on the screen. So what better way to start off our vacation than with some Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios? Per starwars.com, the guests will be:

  • Jake Lloyd (Anakin Skywalker -- Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace)
  • Silas Carson (Nute Gunray/Ki-Adi-Mundi -- Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace)
  • (Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice talent -- currently TBD)

Hm...no Harrison Ford. Anyhoo, Unkie and Bethany are also fans of The Clone Wars and Unkie loves the books, so they are excited. Also, this is our first trip to Hollywood Studios so we are excited to see what they have to offer. Buzz, of course, is excited about Toy Story Mania and I'm ready to find out about the key under the Muppets welcome mat.

Monday, June 4: With two somewhat disabled family members (Papa and Unkie) and one teen with Asperger's (Buzz), we find it best to alternate our park days with "off" days. On Monday, we plan to hang around the pool and arcade.

Tuesday, June 5: The Magic Kingdom! The Holy Grail of any of our vacations. This year, we hope to ride Pirates of the Caribbean as it was closed on our last trip. And no, despite what Bethany tells you, it was not because I stole the Jack Sparrow animatronic...:sad2: No big plans for the day - just to wander around the Happiest Place on Earth.

Wednesday, June 6: Despite this being Nana and Papa's 41st anniversary, we have nothing big planned. Probably another day by the pool and in the arcade with occasional walks around the All Stars complexes to look at all the giant stuff. :goodvibes In the afternoon, the women of the family (that being Nana, me, Bethany, KK, Badger, Red, and Toast) will head over to the Grand Floridian for a tea. Bethany is not a girly girl and was afraid this was going to be some fanciful princess thing, but I think I've managed to convince her otherwise. ;)

Thursday, June 7: When I asked Bethany if there was anything in particular she really, really wanted to do on this vacation, she mentioned two things: She wanted to eat at San Angel's Inn in the Mexico pavilion and she wanted to spend more time exploring the countries at Epcot. Since my family generally hits Mexico and Norway, then skips to America, before heading back to The Land, Bethany and I will be going solo for a while. :cloud9: We have reservations at San Angel's Inn at 11:30 AM, then we plan to explore the countries to our hearts' content until it's time to meet the family at suppertime.

Friday, June 8: We all sadly pack our bags and head back to our respective homes. :guilty: Except for those of us who quit our jobs and decide to overtake Cinderella Castle by storm to live there.

Next up, can your heart take the excitement of OUR STORY?

Just poppin over from my PTR! :goodvibes It's my first one too!

I love your title! I'm always too excited to sleep before Disney!! :hyper:

You have a great family! I can't wait to hear about your trip.

That's one of our family's favorite commercials! And we have 38 days...and I'm too excited to sleep now!

I have been informed by my lovely sister KK that we are actually doing the Grand Floridian tea on June 6 not June 4.

Our Story:

At least, our story as it relates to DisneyWorld.

As near as Nana and I can figure, our family has been to DisneyWorld in these years:

1972 - Nana and Papa
1973 - Nana, Papa, and me
1976 - Nana, Papa, me, and KK (Unkie was born but he didn't go. Hehe!)
1985 - Nana, Papa, me, KK, and Unkie
1991 - Nana, Papa, me, KK, and Unkie as well as one of my high school friends. This was for my high school graduation.
1992 - Nana, Papa, me, KK, and Unkie headed out for a two week trip across the US from South Carolina to California and back. We did visit DisneyLand on this trip.
1998 - KK and JJ. This was their honeymoon. And they didn't invite us - how unfair was that?
1998 - Nana, Papa, me, Bethany, KK, JJ, and Unkie. This was Bethany's first trip. She was nearly 2 years old.
2001 - Nana, Papa, me, Bethany, KK, JJ, Buzz, Badger, Unkie, and Red. This was right before Unkie and Red were married.
2005 - Nana, Papa, me, Bethany, KK, JJ, Buzz, Badger, Unkie, Red, and Toast.
2008 - All of the above plus Tambo.

That means:

Nana and Papa - This will be there 11th trip (if we've added right)
Me - 10th
Bethany - 5th
KK - 10th
JJ - 6th (with our family - not sure if he's been before he got involved with us)
Buzz - 4th
Badger - 4th
Unkie - 7th
Red - 4th (with us)
Toast - 3rd
Tambo - 2nd

In general, most of our trips that I can remember were camping. In 2005, however, we finally stayed on Disney property (All Stars Movies) and enjoyed it so much that we'll never stay off property again!

Next up - Planning!

Subbing!! Reading through your report, I thought it was pretty neat that:

I am also 38, my DD is 16, we're also going in June, and we're in SC!!!!

Our dates are different, though, as we're going June 13-19. And it's only the 2 of us, not the whole gang! :lmao:

Actually..........the 4 of us went in April 1977. Marc stayed with Granny and I have always regretted letting her talk me into that! All 5 us went in 1989. JJ and KK were married in 1997. Plus I made one additonal trip to Disneyland in 1967 when my brother was in California in the Navy. Great report so far!!

I wouldn't know what to do if it were just me and the kid
