Has anyone tried the Wave at the Contemporary? If so, give me the review.

We went in August and loved it. Nice place & good food.:thumbsup2 We Would definately go back.

We just came back from WDW 2 days ago. And one night tried The Wave.
It is on the uppity side. I felt a little under dressed. Very good food for adults. My kids weren't to happy. Even with the kids meals. They were "home made" not Mc. Donalds processed. LOL

We were happy with the taste but, the food came with no sides. Just the entree.

We went in March and LOVED it! Click on my March link for a ton of pics and full review

We have gone for dinner 2x now. We all really like the food. I love the veggie stew, very good and un-stew-like. Dh had the lamb which he said was excellant and DD gets the pasta without sauce. Dh was almost licking the plate clean.

The best reason I can give you to visit here is dessert!

"Creamy Indulgence - Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis, Coconut Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Drizzle, or Chocolate-Passion Fruit Mousse with Pecan-Olive Brittle $7.99

Decadent Flavors - Blueberry Compote with Yogurt Gelato, Lemon Cornbread with Vanilla Panna Cotta, or Chocolate Mousse with Salted Caramel Sauce $7.99

Crispy and Crunchy - Vanilla-braised Pineapple Spears, Almond-Pineapple-Raisin "Baklava", or Zucchini-Carrot Cake with Vanilla Panna Cotta $7.99

We did Creamy and Decadent. Dh was so sweet and shared his with me, 6 desserts with 1 good meal! (You get small sized portions of the group you picked.)

We had dinner there on our recent trip. My son had the pizza and his little brother ate most of it. Hubby really enjoyed his vegetarian option and my parents and I loved our meal that was suggested by the server. It was quite crowded, so I think word it getting around about it. Definitely a good option if you want to try something different. The only downside of my meal was I had an allergic reaction to my dessert. Leave it to me to find out I am definitely allergic to walnuts while on vacation.

We had lunch there the end of April. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing and not crowded at all. Dh and I both had the reuben sandwich with choc. shakes. Oh yum it was so good!:goodvibes

We had dinner one night at The Wave during our trip in early May, and we were all very happy with my meal there, much more so than the one I had at Grand Floridian Café the same week and all of my previous experiences at Kona Cafe. My husband had a crab cake for an appetizer, which he said was one of the best he’s had on property, and I had the soup of the day - Artichoke hazelnut. It sounded like such a strange combination that I had to try it, and it was pretty good. It came with a toasted brie sandwich.

When I had peeked at the menu earlier in the week, I had fully intended to try the cinnamon rubbed pork, but changed my mind last minute and got the marinated flank steak instead. Glad I did - it really was delicious. Very tender, good flavor, and I really liked the shredded sweet potatoes with it. My husband had the beef tenderloin, which he also liked, and my son had plain pasta. I tried “decadent flavors” for dessert, and liked all 3, my husband like 2 of the 3 “no sugar added” things he tried but I do not remember which was the loser.

We stayed at the CR, so it was super convenient, but even if not staying there, I would absolutely go back there for dinner. Definite :thumbsup2 from us!

We ate at The Wave a week ago Monday. It was my birthday, and while I was a little apprehensive about trying somewhere new for an "event," we have absolutely no regrets.

We were on the DDP, but had a couple of apps.

First, the space itself. DD, 22, said it was "chic." That seems apt enough. The waiting area was awash in a cool blue light. We got there about 15 minutes prior to our ADR, but basically had no wait.

The dining room itself is in warm earth tones, not aquatic at all ;) . The wave motif is seen in some abstract ceiling decorations and in the chair backs. Each table had a little electric votive candle. DD, ever the fashion critic, said the lighting make everyone's complexion look so nice. Lord, what have we raised with that one? :rotfl:

They start out with bread service, a thinly sliced whole grain something, nice and nutty, with butter and sea salt.

DD and her boyfriend split the lettuce wraps with lamb and scallops. P.F. Chang's has a similar dish. These were spicy, not gamy at all. DW had navy bean soup, and that stuff was so thick and rich it was a meal in itself. It was full of bacon. I had the chef's soup, which was sort of a creamy artichoke. Again, it was VERY rich, and came with two tiny grilled cheese sandwiches.

Entrees? DD had linguni with clams, rock shrimp in a chunky tomato broth. That's very descriptive. It was full of seafood, and had just enough kick to make it exciting. The broth tasted a bit like a marinara sauce, but was much chunkier.

DDBF had beef tenderloin. It was a generous piece, with oven- dried tomatoes, roasted fingerling potatoes, cabernet sauce and local greens. The greens were basically a side salad. He demolished his steak, and proclaimed it "as good as I've ever had." Perfect temperature, too.

I had the lamb shank, which was HUGE, and just saturated in a red wine sauce. I wasn't too sure about the side -bulgur wheat- lentil stew - but one bite and I was hooked. It took up a whole big dinner plate. The meat just fell off the bone, and you sort of mixed the lamb with the stew and shoveled it in. Dadgum, it was FINE. It was belt-loosening time.

DW had the cinnamon rubbed pork loin. Honestly, she just didn't care for it too much. I tasted it, and it was vaguely middle eastern, sort of sweet, and I could see where that would be a turn-off. I liked it, but it wouldn't be my first choice. It came with Honey-roasted Root Vegetables and Apple Cider Sauce, and she did enjoy the vegetables, which were parsnips ("a white carrot" DD said) and maybe celery root. Not too sure on that one.

The desserts, of course, were fine. You saw above what is offered. That was fun, mixing and matching and sampling each others. The only thing that was sort of off-putting to me was the lemon corn bread. Maybe it was a texture thing.

Service was attentive, not intrusive, and just spot on.

We ate dinner there last September. Best dining experience of the trip. Loved the ambiance, fabulous service, great food. The menu is not as extensive as some places, but everything was yummy. A bit more grownup. We have ADRs there for our next trip--IN 27 DAYS!!!--several times. Loved the bar also.
