I heard somewhere that if you ate at the wave in the contemporary you are also able to watch wishes in the california grill with your receipt...is this true?

That's only true if you eat at the California Grill and come back later for Wishes by showing a Cast Member your reciept from that evening.

i wonder why they thought that you could eat there and then just go upstairs with that receipt...hmm did they use to allow that

In the past before the California Grill had their check-in on the 2nd floor anyone could take the elevator up to there and just watch Wishes. However I guess it got very crowded with a lot of guests doing that which is why you now check-in on the 2nd floor and are taken up in a special elevator to the restaurant. So this way they only have guests who had dinner there earlier in the evening that are allowed to come back and watch Wishes.

Anyway you can still watch Wishes from the 4th floor observation deck which is open to anyone, so you don't need to be eating a restaurant in the Contemporary to do that.

Plus, logistically, it was never allowed before because The Wave is only a few months old.

Has anyone eaten at the Wave? Is it any good.. Last time I was there it was the SteakHouse.

a Steakhouse???

Wave is downstairs, lobby floor where the arcade/quick food place used to be. Wave is very good.

If you want a great view of Wishes, just take the elevator to the the highest floor you can get to without a room key and go to the outside stairwell.
