Hi! Wasn't sure if I should put this in restaurants or solo travelers. Has anyone gone to dinner at The Wave solo? I'd really like to check it out but I'm nervous going to a restaurant I haven't tried before alone. Is it noisy, quiet, formal, etc? Will I look like a weirdo? :/ Thanks!

Don't be nervous. It is a casual spot with a mixed crowd of visitors and Disney employees. It is neither noisy nor formal. Here is a photo of the place. Sort of occupies the territory between coffee shop and fine dining in my book.

Also, there is a bar where you can sit and be served a full meal if you prefer a counter to a table when dining alone.

I agree with this! Its not formal. its a lovely restaurant, a hidden gem, with great food. Many people dine there alone. My friend ate there many times alone on his solo trips. Trust me you wont be the first person to dine alone. And as the other poster mentioned, if youre more comfortable with the idea of eating at the bar, then go for it!

I will be eating there solo in Nov. I love their dinner but i have always wanted to try their breakfast. So i'll be eating breakfast alone. And i cant wait!

The Wave is really good. Not too fancy. I would eat at the bar if sitting at a table in the dining room makes you uncomfortable. There are also tables along the side that are close together. It's like one really long booth, then there are 5 or 6 tables with a few inches between them. That would make me feel strange to sit there because you are so close to other diners. I think there are a few tables for 2, if I remember correctly.

I had breakfast at The Wave solo a couple of years ago. I enjoyed it and didn't feel out of place. Something to keep in mind is that the Contemporary is a convention hotel and solo diners are probably not that uncommon.

Annual solo visitor here and I LOVE The Wave! I have eaten breakfast (twice), lunch and dinner here and all have been great (food and experience). It is quiet, nice without being stuffy, and you will definitely not look like a weirdo. :)

Oh, and @goofyintoronto the breakfast buffet is great! Sweet potato pancakes with honey pecan butter, and grits with Tillamook cheddar cheese and bacon! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
