I made a reservation for 9:45 AM at the WAVE (at 2:00 in the morning the day of!) I was looking forward to having the eggs benedict - one of my favorite dishes. I was pleased that I was seated immediately, but that is where my pleasure ended. The restaurant wasn't that busy. A big group seated next to me had been waiting for their check for a long time and had started grumbling about getting up and leaving. I sat there all by myself for..... 15 minutes - yep, I timed it. No one came over to my table for 15 minutes, I was thinking of leaving. Finally my server came up to me and apologized and told me 2 people didn't show up for work that. Really! That isn't my problem, management should know how to handle a short staff. This is Disney, hire more people so that isn't a problem.

After she took my order, it was another 15 minutes before my meal showed up. My eggs were over poached, so much so they were close to being hard boiled. The hollandaise sauce was very nice, if the eggs had been poached properly it would have been very good. The server came by about 5 minutes later (1 egg now eaten) and asked how it was. When I told her it wasn't good, that the eggs were over poached, she did offer to redo it, but honestly, It was now 10:20 and I didn't want to wait another 15 minutes for my meal. By the time I left it was about 10:40. The restaurant had emptied by then, but when I arrived, it wasn't that full! The people that were seated next to me - a couple - were greeted within minutes by the server, and did the buffet, so within 5 minutes, they were seated eating. I still had not been served.

If you do the breakfast buffet ($21.99) it is a lot faster. If they have enough staff, you probably won't have a problem. It annoys me that families, or larger groups get served quicker than solo's. Solos should get faster service! They don't order as much and you can turn their table over faster!

Well, I could go on, but isn't necessary. I like the Captains Grille at the Beach Club better. They have delicious Lemon Souffle pancakes!IMG_0037.jpg

Sorry you are disappointed. It doesn't really sound that bad though. You were in and out in less than an hour and they offered to redo your eggs. It does seem like they were having an off morning. I do agree that Captains Grille is pretty great though.

I have a friend who, come heck or high water, simply cannot get the name of the Contemporary Resort correct. He has referred to it as :

The Continental
The Constellation
The Corporate
and yes, The Cosmopolitan lol!

I'm starting to think he's doing it on purpose...

As for the Wave...it was the best meal of our trip earlier this month (for dinner). I'm so sorry it didn't live up to the rep for you. Try dinner sometime. The bacon and eggs dinner app is worth the price of admission.

Unfortunately if staff call in sick or don't show up to these types of jobs, it can be quite difficult to get someone else to cover at short notice, it puts added pressure on everyone when you are short staffed. It's not necessarily bad management, if you need x amount of people to do a job and you end up 2 people down, sometimes you've just got to do the best you can with the situation, it's not always as simple as just hiring more people. Yes if staff don't turn up to work then it needs addressing but you sadly can't fire people on the spot for things like that, there's legal processes that have to be followed. I can't tell you how frustrating it is when my colleagues call in sick to work or don't turn up and so I try to be understanding when I see someone in a position I've been dealt many a time.

Really I don't think waiting 15 minutes for your meal is that terrible, they apologised and also offered to redo your meal - we had a great dinner at The Wave in August, it was a very nice evening. Hopefully you'll be able to return in the future and let them put it right.
