The Villas at GF, which room, Deluxe Studio or Resort Studio and why?

In Big Pine Key?
I can’t remember if it was regarding BPK coolers already installed or gripes when it was announced that the coolers would be installed at BPK. I have only stayed in the original building but I do remember the coolers being heatedly discussed.

I will be back in Big Pine Key in about 2 weeks and will report back. I will write a trip report for the trip and will make sure to talk about the refrigerator.

what makes it a beverage cooler to you? The refrigerators at big pine key get cold enough for food. It’s not very big but it is cold. Its not like a cruise ship “fridge” that is barely cold.
I was not speaking to BPK specifically, but any time you are in a studio it’s absolutely possible to end up with a beverage cooler. The one we had in a Poly studio did not keep food cold enough and our leftovers went bad.

I wouldn't accept that and would ask the front desk for a repair or replacement. I don't care which resort or room I'm staying at (when it comes to DVC at least). Even in the "broom closet" tower studios at Riviera, I have gotten (small) refrigerators that are more than capable of keeping whatever I want cold.

Actually, the last time I was in a tower studio my boiled eggs froze solid. LOL

I just got back from VGC and had to call maintenance as mine was not cold at all but was a real fridge. There was not the normal control inside. Maintenance had to pull it out and the control was all the way on the back of the fridge. No idea who thought that was a good design 🤷‍♀️

I am pretty sure VGF resort studios opened with the traditional black beverage cooler found in all the WDW cash room refurbmishents, but were transitioned to actual mini refrigerators that fit in the cabinet. They still have glass doors, but I believe this is the model of the replacement (the temperature gauge is on the back of the unit): https://www.danby.com/products/compact-refrigerators/dag016a2bdb/

They put the control on the back, probably to keep people from messing with it lol

We have stayed in the Deluxe once and wouldnt stay again, found decor really dated and not for us! Shower was lovely there but that was a out it, the Resort studios are beautifully bright and love having the 2 full beds in the room, we are staying in a resort for the 4th time this September.

We’ve, DH and myself, only stayed at GF once and it was in a resort studio. The room was lovely and decorated beautifully, we has a nice view from the patio and the location in terms of the accessibility to the main lobby, pool and restaurants could not be beat. However, a few things made us decide to not book one again.
The coffee maker was a Keurig, not a duel machine. We had to call 3 times to get a full sized coffee maker, they kept saying they did not have one but eventually they brought a combination keurig and full pot machine which was fine. Good thing we had our own coffee and filters because the room was only equipped with pods. We expected a beverage cooler and that was what we got. We were advised, by friends, not staff, to put a bowl of ice in the cooler to lower the temp and it worked fine for the 2 nights we were there. I did not like filling the coffee pot in the bathroom sink, the short spout and small sink made it awkward and messy. The notice on the wall warning against using the coffeemaker and the microwave together was ominous.
The couch under the TV was a drawback but the extra sleeper would be appealing to a family.
I’m sure you will love wherever you choose to stay.
